Things Nick North is supposed to A space pirate. An awkward teenager on the verge of adulthood, newly navigating the maze of gender and sexuality. Things Nick North is not supposed to A psychotherapist. Escort to a pair of alien princesses. Owner of an amusement park. Captain of the entire ship.
The Suddenly Space Pirates have an unwanted stowaway in the form of Raul Ales de Foc, genocidal destroyer of universes. How the crew reacts in his time of need will ultimately test their character--and their Patience. The question Can Nick steal three new pieces of treasure and still find time to hand in his summer homework?
On a cliffhanger that doesn't even feel like a cliffhanger per se, more like someone ripped out the second half of the book.
I'm super upset. Because, just like the first book, I enjoyed this soooo much.
Ending the story (which again was all over the place) like this?? Mean. Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of serials, but when they end like this, without having resolved any of the plot in over 200 pages? I'm just upset.
If I don't get to read a third book ASAFP.....
:(
About the book?
It picks up exactly where book one ended.
Well, yes it was a lot of fun. More like the Captain's story to be honest and nothing like what the blurb has you expect. I still loved it. I just feel like the blurb is a little misleading.
Also, I wanted a bit more of Jason. Expect for a few lovely scenes, he was always in the background, never really too close to Nick :(
Book one and two combined read like ten episodes of a tv series. There's a lot of random stuff happening, but since the characters are all super fun, it's enjoyable to read.
The plot really is all over the place and I think it's intended that way. The books simply tell the stories of a pirate crew, with a big mystery to solve and smaller adventures to master.
The big mystery though is still fucking big. We all know less than when we started the first book...
If you're not very patient and totally in love with the crew... you might not enjoy the series as much.
