Believing life always gives us all a second chance is too bookish.
Because sometimes, when we finally know our faults, the times
acutely change from what they once used to be.

Like a couple of migratory birds, both Charlie and Edwin leave everything back in their village and settle for a new life in a big city. For Edwin, it was where he
was going to chase his dreams, but for Charlie, it was just another place to
be with his only friend. However, when he meets Aster, who was silently
walking through instabilities of her own destiny, he was in for an
absolute unthoughtful phase of profoundness that was going to last
forever.

its definitely bringing a change

Let me be honest in saying that i am probably biased when it comes to this book but no matter how much biased and opinionated i am, others who are raving about it can't be wrong and i standby the fact that this book brings out a benchmark for its category and a fresh breath of air in romance category especially for the indian market where every romance book is just following a particular template blindly and without the basic element- romance in it. So the book in many ways for me personally have brought a change

Its not easy to bring out the emotions in its full form through the use of mere words and that is where I find the book absolutely fantastic for its raw and yet impressive portrayal of emotions, the weakness and strength of characters. The author has in perfect manner brought out the character strength and most importantly the romance just shines through the book.

Yes I picked up this book expecting to read a romance but what I in turn got from the book is much more than that. It did well than any life coach to instill many important lessons. The thoughts that the book had on relationships and friendship was so impressive that I couldn’t fathom that a romance book could be so profound

One of the most important things that I noticed is how with few words, the author could not only just portray the pain, joy and sorrows of the characters but he even manages to bring that out from the readers as well and this is a feature that is only achieved by very few people and that is why I am so impressed by the book but since this is a romance book to begin with, lets discuss the romance.

The relationship and the yearning of the central characters and the phase of their growing together in love is so tangible that I guess no book has ever been able to strike so hard the readers with its emotions. I couldn’t stop my tears from flowing from the onset as the emotions were that real and tangible

I am truly amazed and impressed by the book and I could only imagine what the author would bring up next in his book.

‘Promise Me a Million Times’, as the name suggests, is a love story. As it had been long since I had read a love story, I decided to read this book as it had good reviews. Love stories, after all, are touching and we require that sort of a therapy to melt the heart from time to time. So, here’s what the book has to offer the readers!

The book is a heart-warming story of love, affection, care, brotherhood and friendship. It has many hidden messages in it; it teaches you the importance of parents, of having true friends in life, of what love can do to a human, of how important it is to be optimistic in life and that success comes only after failure. It will touch your heart in a number of ways and bring tears in your eyes at the end. The end surely is heart-breaking and you will feel the pain of the characters. For those who like reading simple and emotional love stories, this book is highly recommended!

I am, usually, reluctant to pick up a love story and even more if it is an Indian author. But this one has changed my view on romance Indian writers.  It is different from other love stories out there in the Indian market which is full of cliches. The book does have a little of the 'rich girl and poor guy' thing going on. It's good that the story doesn't focus a lot on it.

Charlie doesn't have an extraordinary story but his character is depicted so well it makes you cheer his on and also smack him for his stupidity. As for Aster, there's something about the name that makes you fall in love with her. As if that wasn't enough, Love pours out of each word in the book. I was in tears when I finished it...

Dear Aster,
One fine morning, I will get up to notice my face in wrinkles and furrows. My hair will be scattered all over the pillow; most of them will be grey without a doubt. The spring of youth will have made way for my final years, and I’ll no longer be able to walk swiftly. My voice will tremble as a result of impairment; it will get hard for me to read words and things will get no better until I close my eyes forever.
I’ll spend every minute terrorized, unwilling to end this beautiful journey of being in this world. However, I’ll cheerfully accept this truth of life, if you hold my hand, and promise to walk with me, until we breathe. Because no matter how ugly both of us look seventy years or a million years from now, I’ll take you in my arms with the same devotion that I’ll do it for the very first time.
Charlie.

The book is less than 200 pages. You can finish it in a day!  Go read it!

#BookLysis of 'Promise Me A Million Times' (Book Review: 4.6/5*)

I don’t read already published reviews of the books which are added to my bookshelf. 'Promise Me A Million Times' was added to my bookshelf even a month before its launch. This book is an exception because one of my author friend and an avid commenter on my blog Mr. Pankaj Giri sir asked me to read his review of this novel. He is a consistent visitor and probably a first commenter of my reviews from so long, so I couldn’t deny his request. I read his blog post and I already got to know how interesting this book would be. I ordered the book from an online store Amazon at a very next moment, but delivery of this book was delayed to me due to some technical issue by local courier service office and continue holidays. In the process of an inquiry of my delayed product, I communicated with several customer care executives of related online store as well as courier service. I believe that “whatever happens, happens for the best.” (Jo bhi hota hain, achchhe ke liye hota hain). As a result of our communication; surprisingly, I got one very good friend Shammi Shahid who works in Amazon as a customer care executive.
Keshav Aneel’s debut novel, 'Promise Me A Million Times' is the third book published by Srishti Publishers which is being analyzed on my BookLysis. And I would like to proudly mention that the novel has already hit the Bestseller chart and around 2000 copies of this novel’s first edition have already been sold within the short span of two months.

Promising Cover and Title:
A shadow of a young couple’s kissing moment under a tree looks romantic. Orange paper birds and their white shadows resemble real flying birds. White stars can also be spotted on the upper corner of the book cover. Huge buildings can be noticed nearby. Bluish background colour looks awesome and attracts readers to pick the book.
‘Promise Me A Million Times’ is a lovely title which can tend you to pick up this novel and read. The title suits its storyline and reveals its meaning in the fourteenth chapter. Fonts and design of author’s name Keshav Aneel are really catchy. Overall Merril Anil has done a wonderful cover designing to this novel.

Literary Language and Unique Writing Style:
The language of ‘Promise Me A Million Times' is not very simple. But I am sure that this book will add so many new words to the vocabulary of readers. Author Keshav Aneel has a good command over the literary language. He prefers compound and complex sentences. Though the novel is written by an Indian author, he uses a combination of British and Indian English without a single regional Indian (Hindi) word in the novel. The author uses the first person narrative technique to narrate the story. Expressions and emotions of each and every character and each scene are magnificently scribbled by the author. In short, one won’t believe that 'Promise Me A Million Times' is a debut novel of the author. Keshav Aneel’s dedication and hard work of setting, characters and language illuminates in this novel.

Fictitious Setting:
The story and the plot of ‘Promise Me A Million Times’ is developed in fictitious locations like Lugaaar, Etiole, Chaste city, Matrix Grand Arena, Bratten and Grane. All the locations described in the novel belongs to abroad but they are the creations of author’s imagination; however, each and every location is described like a live place.

Promising Characters:
All characters of the novel belong to western culture and Christianity like what we read in British or American literature. Charlie is the male protagonist of the novel whose soul narrates the story as the first person. Charlie’s life and some fictitious incidents like passion for writing, his misfortunes and loss of data saved in his laptop relates to my true life. Aster Elice Rembert is the female protagonist and a doctor by profession. Aster’s positive attitude towards life motivates readers. Both the protagonists Charlie and Aster are my favourite characters. Edwin aka Ed is Charlie’s best friend and more like a brother who wishes to become a best actor of a movie. Jonathan Samuels aka Johnny (who works in a publishing company), Max, Benoit Right, Eugene Left, Laura, Claire and Jessica are Charlie’s friends while William, Isabella and Monty Pebbles are ex-classmates of Aster. Monty plays the role of antagonist in this novel. There are some more memorable characters like an old lady, Mr. Perks, Albert Ferguson, Robert Smith (a publishing agent) and the bakery owner Tommy.

Plot and Storyline:
The story starts with the friendship of Charlie, Edwin, and his friends. True friendship is an important aspect of the story. Charlie’s opinion on friendship really touched my heart and I would like to quote his sentence - “When we aren’t capable enough to defeat the afflictions of our friends, we must at least choose to not let them stand alone in its face. Okay, maybe it won’t lessen their pain, but it surely gives them that much needed help to survive. And that’s what the most important things really is. That’s what life really is.” A first half of the novel is really amazing. Some chapters of this book will make you laugh out loud. Charlie’s making up after sleep about the word ‘every day’ is amazing. The first interaction between Charlie and his dream girl is outstanding. First telephonic communication between Charlie and Aster is just adorable. I like Robert’s viewpoint on true love - “Two people don’t fall in love to seek a comfortable life. It isn’t a game of lottery where you are testing your luck. People fall in love to be earnestly guarded during the worst of times. And the most beautiful part about it is that lovers don’t seek any guarantee from each other for satisfying them in bed or getting them all the luxuries which they themselves aren’t capable enough to have. Love is the assurance that even if death stands in front of you, your loved one will hold you and love you until you gasp your last breath.”

The story of 'Promise Me A Million Times' remarks a sarcastic but direct comment on the so called ‘love’ of today’s generation. A story narrated to Charlie by Aster remarks on the glimpse of inhuman activities in hospitals. Readers might relate their girlfriends to the character of Aster. Max comments on the dark reality of people mocking at rape victims - “The reality is, people mock at girls who have been raped. Sympathy is not shown to lessen her pain, but to quench this insatiable spirit of enquiry. Consequently, a girl first suffers at the hand of a rapist then by the questions of the society.” The story also positively comments on two people in the same profession getting married to each other. Author elegantly adds a girl’s molestation scene in the twelfth chapter. Beautifully described scene of an argument between Charlie and Monty comments on the irony of rich versus poor. Charlie’s letter sent to Monty really touches my heart. An old lady gives an example of water into a bottle to a young boy and that is an extreme motivation for the readers. Aster’s letter sent to Charlie really inspires me to resume my writing. She defines the term ‘impossibility’ to Charlie - “Impossibility is just a blasphemy that survives in exhausted human minds, Charlie. It is simply a hostile disorder planted by excuses. It puts limitation to excellence of the imagination. It truncates the power of love. Life means to see beyond the boundaries of possibility. That knack is what differentiates miracles from mere happenings.” She tells all budding writers and to be authors like Charlie - “You don’t have to live enough to write. Rather, you must feel to write. When you sit down the next time and discern that you cannot pen down anything, ask yourself: what is my life all about, and what has managed to touch the deepest extremity of my heart? Most importantly, don’t try to make things special. Just keep them true and simple. And then you will realize how incredibly your words will weave magic that will wonderfully impact each person who reads it.” End of the twelfth chapter gives a simple and loud message: “Respect girls, they are meant to be treated well. The who does deserves to be called a man.” Charlie gives a positive message to help victims as a responsible citizen instead of being an irresponsible viewer.

Benoit’s story of quitting tea and his emotions, feelings and sentiments for his girlfriend Jessica are really heart touching. Ninth chapter touched me so much and I lack words to share my feelings after finishing the chapter. I would like to quote a paragraph written by Charlie for his debut book ‘The Crumbled Gender’ - “A girl is not a trophy to be won. The beauty she possesses isn’t a product to be consumed. The sacrifices she makes aren't brainless. The kindness she exhibits is no subject of pranks. She is delicate. She is sensitive. She takes all the violence and abuses. Not because she is intimidated by anyone’s outburst. But she is patiently waiting for her love to get noticed. She is an ocean of benevolence. She will care for us even when we don’t reciprocate. Let’s treat her well. She never asks for it. She deserves it.” Charlie’s imaginations and painful nights spent in the memories of his loved one deeply touches my heart and commemorates me my past. Charlie’s expressions after his debut book getting published are described gracefully.

A scene of people dying to see a glimpse of living legend Albert Ferguson performing live reminds me similar crazy fans’ enthusiasm to see a glimpse of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan in his recent MIET, Gondia visit on 9th February 2016. I can feel Charlie’s fictitious pain of losing a laptop after I really lost all data from my laptop due to attack by a ransomware CERBER3. ‘Promise Me A Million Times’, is an art of fiction but I feel like Aster asks me and not Charlie that “what is (was) more important: your (my) life or (my) writing?” Of course my LIFE! Thank you KeshavAneel sir for this eye opening motivational character like Aster.

Fight or action scene in the eighth chapter is portrayed elegantly. Aster asks a serious question on behalf of all girls, “What wrong have we girls done? Are we so heinous that we have to be brutally dealt with? Don’t we have a heart? Don’t we feel the pain? Only because we are delicate, does it give licence to boys to overpower girls and fulfill their animal like desires.” A narration of a brutally described girl’s molestation scene and Aster’s sarcastic comments gives me goosebumps. I would also like to remark Charlie’s point of view about the reason behind such immoral activities- “The reason why these activities were on the rise was because people were focusing on becoming good engineers, clever business tycoons, efficient doctors, acclaimed writers, genius mathematicians, but no one was bothered about becoming a good human being. And since the element of morality has taken a back seat in our everyday system, things weren’t meant to get any better. Then on the other hand we had nations swamped with weapons, building an army, being diplomatic, working to be superpowers, but who wants to consolidate on making civilized citizens? None.”

The second half of the book shock readers with so many unexpected twists and increases excitement of an enthralling read. The last chapter of the novel is incredible. Author elegantly adds a scene of terrorists’ attack in the hotel which tend readers to relate with 26/11. The first part of this chapter is really exceptional. Don’t expect me to reveal the climax but I must tell you that the climax of this novel is unpredictable and thrills you with goosebumps. If you have questions like whether Charlie and Aster get married or not? What happens in their love story? Does Edwin achieve his dream to become the best actor? Then you must read this novel.

Promising Quotes from the book:
1. “It’s never the reason of your pain or its magnitude that determines whether it can be shared or not. It’s the compassion and security you feel in someone’s company that makes do so.”
2. “When we were kids, we wanted to quickly grow up, and now when we are adults, we wish to be kids again.”
3. “When a person has fallen down and they say that they fear to get up, they don’t necessarily mean it. They might just mean that they want the most loving hand to defeat their fear.”
4. “Being an artist or a writer isn’t only about finding fun in our imaginative work built in an unreal world. It was more about taking that gift thankfully while working towards changing the world into a better place.”
5. “It feels like dying when you have to return to the point from where you had started with a billion hopes and dreams, and even worse to find no courage to re-start because time has prudently tailored you to believe that you won’t ever reach the finish line.”
6. “Time and terror have one thing in common; when they aim for you, they are strictly merciless.”
7. “It’s tough to argue with a man who has fallen in love.”
8. “You know, it’s tough to survive without love, without anyone telling you that you mean the world to them, and that you really do matter. But then, what hurts you even more is when you learn that the person who once cared for you, is humiliated by who you really are. You feel like you should have never met them and you wish you could go back in time and erase them out of your brain, out of your memories, out of your heart and start everything all over again.”
9. “Love is an inexplicable remedy. People who fall in love, never fail.”
10. “Love is sacrificing, without letting the world know about it.”
11. “A girl doesn’t want to be with a guy who is rich, she wants to be with a man who is perfect at heart – one who is honest, who genuinely cares for her, one who loves her wrinkled face as much as he admires her youthful smile.”

Minor Drawbacks:
I feel that Srishti Publishers could have been used better quality pages to print the novel. Srishti Publisher’s twitter handle @Srishtipub is misspelled as @Srishtipup on the back cover of the novel. Though there are not so many major drawbacks in the storyline and plot of ‘Promise Me A Million Times’, I have found some minor punctuation errors left in the novel by the typesetters and editors of the book. Of course a reader can ignore these minor drawbacks but I am noticing those punctuation errors to make corrections and to make next edition of the novel error-free. There is a full stop (.) missing in the end of some sentences on page numbers 18, 37, 40, 56, 64, 96, 121 and 131. There is a single opening inverted comma (‘) at a place of double opening inverted comma (“) in the beginning of some sentences with the direct speech on page numbers 68, 87 and 115. Double opening inverted mark is missing in a direct speech sentence on page no. 121.

Reviewer’s Opinion about Promise Me A Million Times:

I feel that first three chapters are written in a slow pace, so those chapters might not engage readers with the storyline until first 30 pages. But trust me, I didn’t feel to put the book down even once after starting to read the fourth chapter in which the storyline picks up a grip. An interesting thing about this novel is this book does not only points out social issues like women molestation but also remarks the different reasons behind social harmony. The novel motivates readers with the positive messages and positive opinions of victims as well as protagonists. Short chapters along with western characters and fictitious imaginary locations keep readers engaged with the unique storyline of this novel. I have mucked the whole book as my favourite.

'Promise Me A Million Times' is one of the perfect stories of dreams, friendship, struggles, will, love, romance, action, emotions, drama, suspense, thrills, twists and everything needed for a perfect entertainment; so, I won’t wonder if any filmmaker adopts this story to make a blockbuster movie.

Rating in my BookLysis:
I am rating 4.6 on the scale of 5 stars to Promise Me A Million Times by Keshav Aneel. I recommend you to must read this novel if you wish to read a fresh story with literary aspects.

Starting from the cover a shadow of a young couple’s kissing moment under a tree which gives the readers a hint of a love story. The first impression is the best impression the foremost thing which I liked in the book is the beautiful cover and romantic title Promise Me A Million Times. This is a perfect blend of true friendship, brotherhood, parents love, romance, compassion, respect, sacrifice, pain and life.

This is the story of two childhood best friends Charlie And Edwin who leaves their village and moves to the city of Etiole with new hope and better future. Edwin was going to fulfill his dream of becoming an actor on the other hand Charlie was aimless, he was in Etiole to just accompany his friend for chasing his dreams and promises each other that they will stand each their in their good and bad time. In the new city they meets Max. Max lives in a rent flat with four other friends and he Ed. and Charlie to live with them. Ed. and Charlie settles with max and his friends as roommates. Max and his friends plans for to go for a little party with there new roommates to Chaste City. Charlie was attracted towards a girl who was celebrating her birthday in Chaste City but he was unable to see her clearly.

Charlie got’s a job as salesman in Salud Pharmaceuticals and Ed. moves forward to catch the butterfly of his dreams. But he was not able to do his job as salesman on first day itself, the incident he had witnessed while entering the hospital. Then to overcome his fear and tension and to do sales he got drunk as per his friends advice and goes to hospital to sales his products. But rather the opposite side happen the guards of the hospital had beaten him a lot of because of the drunken state. Then suddenly a girl says the guard to leave him and bring him he was injured and needs to do medical attentions. It was the same girls whom Charlie had an encounter in Chaste City ans she enquirers about Charlies drunk state he narrates his experience of his first day of work. ” The first sight i saw was a man whose eyes were bleeding and then there was this person who had his flesh hanging out of his body like it was some withering leaf on a tree. It appalled me so badly that my body kept shivering the whole day. I couldn’t stand watching all those horrific scenes, but i had to do my job as i couldn’t afford losing it. So i returned drunk today thinking i would be able to do my work and ignore thinking i would be able to do my work and ignore such sights” listening all this Aster Elise Rembert a medical intern who will be a doctor soon. She said Charlie to meet her the very next day. Aster helps Charlie selling the medicines at hospital. So they almost meet every alternate day wherein she would do the selling for him. With each passing day they come closer.

In a dinner Charlie shares his love with writing, in his school days. his story has won the first place in inter-school state story writing competition and fortunately the name published under was his teacher who had stolen his story. He had complained about this to higher authorities of his school but the result was he was thrown out of the school with a blank transfer certificate and which puts Charlies academic career and writing an end. Aster motivates him for writing and but he doesn’t agrees with her words he can’t overcome the pain he had gone through that time. So finally Aster shares a story of her life. Her parents were meet with a accident, her father died on the spot and her, mother was in critical condition admitted to the hospital. the doctor who should be a guardian angel instead of that he was devil. He brutally raped her for almost four years until her mother finally died. Aster had face a lot of pain and then also she stand up for her by faces every difficulty with a courage. “Impossibility is just a blasphemy that survives in exhausted human minds, Charlie. It is simply a hostile disorder planted by excuses. It puts limitation to excellence of the imagination. It truncates the power of love. Life means to see beyond the boundaries of possibility. That knack is what differentiates miracles from mere happenings” Aster words motivates Charlie. He feels more connected towards her and promises to give every possible kind of love & affection. The story moves on smoothly with Charlie and Aster discovering their newly found love with one another.

Charlie leaves behind everything to write a book dedicated to the love of his life. Charlie writes for his debut book ‘The Crumbled Gender’ – “A girl is not a trophy to be won. The beauty she possesses isn’t a product to be consumed. The sacrifices she makes aren’t brainless. She deserves it.” Charlie’s imaginations and painful nights spent in the memories of his loved one deeply touches my heart. Charlie leaves behind everything to write a book dedicated to the love of his life.

He is only few steps away from his dream that his laptop gets stolen (in which his complete manuscript is). His heart dies and his soul gets shattered. Aster consoles him and takes him out from the dead hole of depression.

The story moves ahead blissfully until one of Aster’s old classmate Monty Pebbles make Charlie feel inferior. He tortures Charlie with his rude remarks & tells him that he does not deserve Aster as he can never give her all the luxuries. After a long introspection, Charlie decides to part ways with Aster for her benefit. He starts to believe that he isn’t really the right one for Aster. He leaves her with an untold story.

Charlie was alone depressed. Will Charlie be able to move on? What will happens the relationship between Charlie and Aster will she come back? Will he found out his stolen book?

The story revolves around the life of Edwin, Charlie, Aster, Jonathan Samuel aka Johnny, Max, Benoit Right, Eugene Left, Laura, Claire and Jessica, William, Isabella and Monty Pebbles, Mr. Perks, Albert Ferguson, Robert Smith (a publishing agent) and the bakery owner Tommy. The book is full of motivational words which will definitely inspires the reader. The story flows like a movie and takes the reader on a journey of true love and friendship. The every scene is so well written than you can actually get images of them in your mind. It made me cried i can feel the pain of the protagonist. The language of the book is simple which will make it easy to read for the readers. Narration is done well. Characterization is perfect. My favorite character of the book is Aster who taught me how to stand up by letting go all difficulties we faced in past inspiring one. It’s never the reason of your pain or its magnitude that determines whether it can be shared or not. It’s the compassion and security you feel in someone’s company that makes you do so.

Highly Recommend To All.

Finally a well written story by an Indian writer....loved the intensity of the main characters Charlie and Aster. Love brings out the best in us and this story is exactly about that....the selfless act of wanting to see the one you love achieve success and happiness.

The friendship between Ed and Charlie is beautifully shared and so is the genuine concern of the other friends. Its a book you read and smile about long after the last page. It leaves you feeling happy about the power of love and relationships. Looking forward to more from the writer :) All the best

This book made me wide awake throughout my journey of 16 hours while reading and afterwards too. This is one book where I have highlighted so many quotes in them. Simple motivational quotes yet powerful. Though the book is dramatic in between, liked the simplicity throughout. I am sure each one of us could relate to this book - let it be friendship, 'fight like hell' in life and those relationships when you least expect of them. This book is a surprise find for me and highly recommended!

The novel is over. The book has been read. But I still cannot stop myself thinking of the bond Charlie and Aster shared. What wonder of a story that was! Take a bow Keshav Aneel! Brilliant is the only word that comes to my mind. The situations are unbelievably realistic. The dialogues are awesome. The plot is strong and completely beyond thinkable.
Coming to the story, the two orphans Charlie and Edwin head to a town named Etiole leaving their jobs. Edwin wants to pursue a career in the film industry whereas Charlie is merely accompanying his friend with no personal goal in mind. In Etiole, he comes across a girl named Aster, and then what begins is touching revelations from their respective pasts and a heart-warming true love that keeps you glued to the book. At many instances you just think you know what will happen next and the author pulls off something totally different.
I had tears in my eyes at many instances. THE LETTERS IN PARTICULAR- THEY WERE JUST TOO BEAUTIFUL! Full of love, pain and sometimes those complexes reminding me a bit of Nicholas Sparks. Keshav Aneel’s writing has a poetic flavour to it. Charlie’s friendship with Edwin is infused with a sense of brotherly warmth and some of the situations built, will form a lump in your throat. The ending is so heart breaking that you'll not be able to hold back your tears. That's a guarantee. All in all, this is a MUST READ and marks an entry of one of the most talented authors I have read in recent times. I give 4.75 glorious stars to this wonderful book.

Promise me a million times evidently shows the home work done by its author, Mr. Keshav Aneel for his debut work. From its beautiful cover, the plot... the catchy title to the presentation he took great care to bring out the best I think. The story is mainly focused on Charlie, Aster and Edwin; on their voyage of love, friendship, dreams, trust and life... no it is not the usual as you might think! It stands out different and creative for sure!

The book effortlessly succeeds in creating the best first impression and does justice to it. The author easily connects with the readers with his plot and the presentation. The experiment with the background and name of the leads, considering it is an Indian book is impressive and fresh. I liked how it sidetracks from cliche on love and friendship . The framework of characters and plot-line is concrete and effective. The beauty of the book will grip you for sure and with that it stands out strongly. The way the author handled emotions and bonds is appreciable.

Even though the presentation made it fresh, it could have been much better as i see great potential. A little bit of care needed on language. It became a little predictable which could have been taken care of.

I would rate this book 4.25/5 and invite my readers to give it a try, you will love it for sure!

The book is a wonder!! The best storyline I have read till date. It not only teaches you love but goes beyond educating you to defend it, fight for it, and in the end to live with it. I will be impatiently waiting for Keshav's next book. If this is what he can do with his first, I can only imagine of what level would the rest be.

Not recommended. It's pretty lousy. And the book needs some serious proof reading before they can publish another copy.

Ordinary leaves when extra-O enters.
There is stating 'A man who is an expert in some field then he would have broke in that field to his butt off'. The way he conveyed emotions with such a huge weight from page128 to the end left me dumbfounded and brought me tears. In spite of the fact that characters are fictional however not the content i believe in one or other way every one goes through this phases. Not all gets supporting companions or a genuine love or a person like a Robert smith yet this book itself a true mentor that lets you learn the ethical equality and tells you the crude facts of love.
First i thought this book is about friendship but it swings to something exceptionally fresh. The romance amongst aster and charlie is quiet opposite to the pattern that other authors follows its delightful.
After Ravinder singh's debute, this is second debute novel that made me cry like a puppy. Sad endings always made me upset if i would have known it earlier i dare to peruse it. Presently no regrets.
Very impressed with the conversation piece of Robert Smith and Charlie in certainty it knocked my socks off with absolute virtue. 'Happily Ever After' would have happened to aster and charlie. He would have gotten house for aster in lugaar where she lives peacefully and his friendship with Ed would have taken additional miles. Life is roller coaster we never know when our soul takes off all we can do is to experience the minute minus all potential limitations.

The story is pretty simple with two guys Charlie – the main protagonist, and Ed – his best buddy moving out of their old town of Lugaar and into a new city for better life. The book starts with these 2 guys, who are about to enter the new "imaginary" city of Etiole. The initial part of the book is written nicely with the exception of a part where an old lady and an unknown passenger meet in train and have a discussion about the passenger's parents. That part seemed very preachy (and so does few more parts of the book like times when Aster tries to correct / teach / just explain Charlie what he is doing). So they enter the city and then the usual stuff which I think many of us have seen in movies – Ed and Charlie are looking for job that could help them get rich and have better lives and while searching for house and job, Charlie meets Aster and falls in love, etc. Ed is a struggling actor, which is also the main reason he came to this new city of Etiole. They meet few strangers while searching for a new house and for some reason these strangers, even thought they for the first time, they are very friendly and helpful to Charlie and Ed. What happens between Charlie and Aster ? Do they get happily married ? Will Ed be able to become an actor and fulfill his dream? You will have to read the book to find out.

So here is the good and bad of the book, and this is strictly based on what I feel.

Spoiler Alert!

Good:
- The story starts with a good pace and keeps that pace almost till the middle of the book.
- Language is simple enough for new readers to understand
- Friendship between Charlie and Ed. This kind of relationship is what every person would want to see between them and their best friend.
- Aster's character. She is a very strong character but at the same time filled with lots of emotions and kindness.
- A sudden twist in the story at the end (which I believe many of us would not be expecting). I only think this twist in story was introduced to create emotional drama and a sense of thrill in the reader. However, there is lot more to say which I will put in the "Bad" section later in this review.

Bad:
- Main protagonist – Charlie, is very, very .... very low on self esteem. At times, it just creates a sense of pity and annoyance for the actions this character decides to take. He has very low self esteem, however, is able to achieve something many people are not able to do – all this just because he is in love??? (I believe that's what the author wants to portray.)
- Same with Aster, she easily trusts strangers, without knowing them much or their background. I can't relate to a fact that Aster easily falls in love with Charlie who is such a low-esteemed person.
- There is not much effort spent to describe the town of Lugaar (from where the main characters are originally). As I mentioned, there is a twist in the end of the story, but is not explained and left to reader's imagination. Still more could have been told about the town.
- Friends in Etiole are shown as too kind / helpful and attached to Charlie and Ed, like it seems that they have known them for years. Why would a stranger start to believe, help, offer things, etc, etc right from the first meeting? Also, no background, emphasis is given to describe them, leaving them again, a little hard to relate to them.
- The ending, even though there is a twist, is mostly predictable and filmy.

In general, I believe the story is good. But many things are missing. There are opportunities when author could have explained things with little more detail and emotion, which, towards the middle and ending chapters would have created more drama and effect. Because of this, you start reading the book and as you reach somewhere in the middle of the book, you feel like skipping some parts of it because of 2 main reasons – story becomes predictable and you except more explanation for actions and situations that the main characters decide to take, but, you don't get that explanation most of the times. I would say, the last 25% of the book, I just read main points and few dialogues and was able to read it in less than 15 minutes. Lots of emotional drama and feelings could have been there, but as a reader, I was just not able to visualize or agree with the situation because of the incomplete description/background information needed.

Bottom-line:
If you have few spare hours with nothing to do (waiting for a flight, travelling) and if you have a copy of the book (for free to read), then go ahead and read – You may like the story. Otherwise, its best to overlook this one, as it does not offer anything new. I am giving this book a generous 2.5 stars)

"The best gift in life is a second chance to make things right, but not everyone are truly gifted."

Charlie left Lugaar with no goal in mind, what he actually had was a friend by his side, a friend who needed him to be there through his thick and thin, a friend who has been there ever since he could differentiate the good from bad, a friend who was family to him, yet when tables take a turn, you just can't stand by the people who have been by your side ever since.

Edwin Perrod, a lost soul who travelled along with Charlie, the one who was family to him has decided to live by him and accomplish his only dream to be an actor in the dream city, Etiole. Ed has always been with Charlie, ever since he knew friendship, he knew Charlie yet what he didn't know was things will take a turmoil when everything was about to set right.

Between their friendship, flickered a ray of love, when Aster met Charlie. A girl who made him believe in his capabilities, fight his fears and conquer his past, while she herself held a mystery, a mystery which held her back from entrusting people, a mystery that was soul reason for her being confined, yet she gave up her mystery trusting one last time, only this time it was forever because someone finally had his chance to break through her shell and love her soul.

Promise Me A Million Times is a story of dreams, friendship and struggles, but most importantly it is a story of rising up from the ashes of your past and conquering your ambitions because where there is a will, they certainly has to be a way to fulfil it.

Keshav Aneel, the author of the book has penned down his dream quite beautifully, portraying love and defining a new height to friendship because in the end, what is left behind are memories. The memories with which the years are lived by.
Charlie decided to live his dreams, but sooner accepted defeat in all aspects, what he didn't realise was, defeat do not touch one, unless we accept it, Aster taught him to fight back yet there was a time when he lost it, completely. When he realised his fault and prayed on for a second chance, probably it was too late, yet he did live upto the promise he made a million times.

On a personal note, the events of this book certainly made me cry, leaving behind a sleepless night, which actually made me ponder how uncertain life can be, how a simple decision of someone else can leave behind a thousand tasks undone, a million words unsaid, therefore one should certainly live in the moment and love what one has, than to crib for what's gone, grieve the losses, but certainly shouldn't let the loss be your life. It's good to be in love, yet each one of us should learn to love unconditionally for only then, world will be a happier place to be in.

So certainly, I would say, not only did this book can make you smile, it will certainly take you for a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Mr. Author, the book is simply supercalifragilicticexpialidocious!

Life always has many things to offer us. Challenges, grief, regrets, sacrifices, smiles, lovers, friends, enemies… Sometimes you may see your course of life as interlaced and embroiled, you think your existence as wastage and you start drowning into your inner self. But it also true that you always find a light inside you to achieve which aids you most. And then you fight for it.

Leaving their old lives in a village called Lugaar, the two friends left for an unplanned journey to a city named Eitole, wishing for their dreams to come true. Charlie and Edwin were more than just friends, Edwin wanted to make name in the film industry while Charlie just wanted to accompany him and help him to fulfill his dreams. What more the two orphans had other than each other?

They kept on accepting everything that came for them. Made friends, started working and faced life’s hardships anyway with open arms. As life is unforeseen and unpredictable, we all are well informed with that… Charlie met a girl and at the very first moment he knew, like a presentiment but a good one, that she might be the one. There was so much light in her. Finally, his rendezvous with Aster did not go well but they soon became good friends. To his surprise, she too had faced ups and downs throughout her life but still she was happy, content and so kind. And this same thing she taught him whenever he was broke and filled with negativity. She then provoked him to write, what he loved and what he always wanted to do.

Filled with love, ugly truths, struggles and dreams… “Promise me a million times” is one such book that is a blend of friendship, love and trust.

The book is easy to read and solely deserve everyone's favoritism. I will surely recommend this book. And I wish the author luck for his future endeavors.

#Promise me a million times# by Keshav Aneel is a story of two friends Charlie and his best comrade Edwin,as well as, a story of two lovers, Charlie and Aster. The bud of the book opens with the two best friends walking towards Etiole. Edwin wants to pursue his career in the film industry whereas Charlie is merely accompanying his friend without a single point of selfishness in his mind and this is known as a strong bond. As the story moves on, generally in many of the chapters, they were beleaguered. But the vigour which was in their innerself, was an atrocious one. Coming to Etiole, had made a U Turn in the life of Charlie, when he met with a girl named,Aster. This love story needs an extol,to which i am enamoured with. The temper of love in Charlie's life thrived his situation and transformed his days into the bed of roses. But this venture resulted into a heart-warming true love thats keeps you glued to the last leaves of the book. The ending is so heart breaking that you will not be able to hold back your tears.

The story starts with Charlie and Edwin settling in a new city 'Etiole' and looking for a job. While working for a pharmaceutical company, Charlie met Aster, and the love story begins. The characters throughout the book are penned down well. The readers will witness the amazing craft work of author, knitting the story with his fictional work and characters.

The language used in this book is somewhat fresh and remarkable for a debut Indian author. The narration is quite impressive and the flow of the story is smooth. The story becomes a bit predictable at a few points, which could have been improved.

The author describes love, trust, friendship and emotions of all the kinds in an awfully beautiful way. The book is a page turner, that grips a reader, making it an entertaining cover to cover read.

This book is definitely a good start for the debut author, Keshav Aneel. The readers would surely like to read more from the author, in other genre too.
Kudos to Srishti Publishers and Keshav Aneel for raising the standard of current Indian romance writing. Way to go!

Life is nevertheless same for every one of us. The difficult and obscure situations become more unbearable when we don’t have anybody beside us.

Keshav Aneel has presented a beautiful recital about friendship and love. Two best friends left their village, Lugaar, to give their lives a chance to fulfill their dreams. Their days in the city were difficult but they had each other and a reason to live. Life wasn’t satisfactory but enough for both Charlie and Edwin.

Charlie didn’t know what to do with his life but he was determined to make Edwin’s dream come true. He met a girl who showed him care and pushed him to do in which he was best in. he tried, he somewhat quenched his thirst for happiness and love. But it seemed that his destiny wanted something else. No matter how hard he tried to make things work but, all in vain. No doubt he had his friends with him who helped him in almost everything.

Author has done a fabulous job in his very first novel. All the scenes have been described with utmost care. Plot is strong with twists and turns and totally unexpected climax.

The depiction of love and loosing is perfectly narrated. The will to toss ourselves to winover the odds is well putforth by Aster,a girl who was molested and raped. And the title of the book 'Promise me a million times' is vividly justified by Keshav Aneel, proving his calibre as an author. The way he narrated the sprouting love in Charlie was outstanding. And on a whole, this can be marked as a must read one.

“People fall in love to be earnestly guarded during the worst of times.” Keshav Aneel serves us not only romantic fiction, portraits struggle for survival in a new city, a bond of friendship and love wins over all odds.

The book kicks off with a promising story. The protagonist Charlie and his best buddy Edwin sets out from Lugaar and came to their dream city Etiole, the kind of relationship is what every person would want to see between them and their best friend. They are made to sleep on an over bridge footpath owing to the inability to pay hotel room rent. They are looking for job that could help them have a better life. Edwin wants to become an actor wherein Charlie is aimless till he met Aster. Charlie fall in love with Aster who becomes a great support of Charlie’s life. The story of 'Promise Me A Million Times' remarks a sarcastic comments over harsh realities of society. The story ends at a sudden twist which no one can saw coming.

The story is mainly focused on Charlie, Aster and Edwin; on their voyage of love, friendship, dreams, trust and life. The story is simple and depicts struggle of life but as the story proceeds, it became a little predictable which could have been taken care of.
