Her name is Luna, and she's the perfect secret agent. Grown in a lab from the finest genetic material, she has been trained since her birth fifteen years ago to be the U.S. government's ultimate espionage weapon. But now, she is given an assignment that will test her abilities to the max -- high school!

"Amazing Agent Luna Vol 1" by Nunzio Defilippis is the first 6 issues of the Luna Stories. This is my first time reading the Luna manga and it turned out to be a fun read. Luna is the product of a government cloning project. Raised in the laboratory and trained as a spy/assassin, her skill are formidable. The one skill she has not mastered are her social and interpersonal skills, which turns out to be a problem on her second mission. Finding information which ties the staff of a high school to a dangerous villain, Luna goes undercover as a high school student. The story is simple and easy to follow, making for fast fun reading. Watching as Luna tries to fit in and is exposed to feelings that are foreign to her. A kind of coming of age story mixed with espionage, fast paced action and the usual goofy stuff teenagers go through makes this a great read. The characters are diverse and fun and like real teenagers some of the characters have depth of character and others are rather shallow. The 2 agents assigned to fill in as Luna's parents are her therapist and her controller. The banter between these to as the mission needs to be completed without damaging Luna's natural emotional growth I found very interesting. I enjoyed this and will be reading Vol 2 in the near future.
One word which absolutely defines and encompasses 'Amazing Agent Luna Vol 1' is: Cute.
This manga is so cute that it could bring down any evil organisation and corrupt nation just through the collective reading of it. I want to hug and squeeze this thing to my heart while lying in a valley of fresh, dewy green grass, and willowy ponds, and lily petals. I never thought before that a story about secret agents and espionage could be this freaking adorable, but here we are.
'Amazing Agent Luna Vol 1' is like a funny yet thrilling and action packed Saturday morning cartoon in manga form. It's mainly set in a high school, yes, but it doesn't feel stale, dry, or aggravating. Its premise is simple yet shows promise. Each character is distinguishable, memorable, and likeable. And because of this, some cliches still manage to come across as fresh, if that makes sense. The cliches are understated, at the least. The pacing is just right - its action scenes and character moments happen at the appropriate times.
And did I mention that this American-made manga is cute? 'Cause it is! It is a doll!
Luna is a teenage girl who from the test tube has been trained her entire life to be the world's greatest secret agent. US government funded, she's a biological weapon. But for all of her skills and intelligence, she is an adolescent girl in need of other, more normal experiences. Experiences like her new mission, which assigns her to Nobel High School.
For the first time this brilliant yet cute and naive girl will make friends, and social rivals; plus get to know new clothes and brands, plus modern slang, and game rules (like in netball). And since this is mid-2000s high school writing, Luna will have her first crush on a boy at Nobel High. And waddiya know, this crush and fellow new kid Jonah happens to be the son of Luna's agency's arch nemesis, Count Von Brucken! (Good old American xenophobia which I hope is subverted in later volumes).
But as naive as Luna can be, she has her priorities straight, and she won't let her feelings for a typical mysterious bishonen get in the way of her mission.
How can a spy girl be like a Magical Girl and yet not? That's what 'Amazing Agent Luna' presents to us, and I commend it.
Luna is serious, smart, determined and action orientated as an agent - particularly in her ninja gear - and also rather a crybaby when off duty, and uncertain, shy and self-conscious as a school girl being social for the first time in her life. She's as messy and complex as any teenager, no matter how she was raised. She really is adorable, and relatable (as can be, given all of her bizarre circumstances, and who hasn't felt like a lonely outsider alien in high school?) and worth idolising.
As well as her "Control"/Agent Jennifer Kajiwara (the serious one with the defrosting heart), and Dr. Andy Collins (the understanding house dad one) posing as her parents, other people in Luna's life now include her school friends: Francesca, who is pretty, kind and friendly, but is also friends with the school's popular mean girl Elizabeth, and Francesca will be forced to choose between her and Luna - she will realise who her true friends are, and she's a loyal cream puff; then there's Oliver, a loser skateboarder who always stumbles into trouble, and has a crush on Luna, but for all his moodiness and foibles he is genuinely nice and his heart is in the right place. Jonah is hardly worth mentioning at this time; the love subplot pales in comparison to the main espionage plot. Friendship is more interesting anyway.
Luna also makes friends with Aristotle, an owl, who is the school's mascot. Principle Ohlinger is hilarious, and so is Count Von Brucken, which I definitely did not expect from his serious first appearance. This manga contains great comedic timing.
How sweet, funny and entertaining 'Amazing Agent Luna Vol 1' is. I am actually thinking about reading more of this series, which almost never happens to me with manga nowadays. At least this is a finished series. Recommended for a wholesome and darling good time.
There is certainly more to this mystery - and to Luna - than meets the eye.
I love reading mangas. This series, "Amazing Agent Luna" by Nunzio DeFelippis and Christina Weir, is Volume 1 of this lively manga creation. It focuses on Luna Collins, a 15 year old girl who has never been to a high school institution. She was born from a test tube experiment, raised in a top secret government facility, was "homeschooled" as far as school subjects are concerned, and literally raised up learning much about martial arts and the spy network, and even has the ability to jump from the ground onto a multi actor he'd building. We meet Luna, and Jennifer (Luna's Control Agent) and Dr. Collins (who become Luna's Fake mom and dad, while she attends high school. We also meet Count von Brucken, who has many secrets up his sleeves, and it is Luna's mission to find out if those secrets are detrimental to the security of the World. Then there are Luna's classmates: Oliver Riggs (a skateboard riding nerdy, but nice guy, who instantly falls for Luna); Francesca, a beautiful girl who hangs out with the mean girls, but is really not a mean person herself); Elizabeth (a mean girl who really is a mean girl through-and-through); and Jonah von Brucken (the son of the Count, who is quiet, beautiful, and every girl's dreamboat kind of guy, but who is interested in Luna). Finally, there are some teachers, a janitor, a principal, and Aristotle the Owl. I really loved that bird. I gave this book 4 stars because, in my opinion, this first volume needs a little work, as far as making some of the characters more vivid with regard to the dialogue.
I received a copy for free from freebooksy, and this is my honest voluntary review.
A very cute first volume. I've definitely needed some fun, fluffy easy reads lately and "amazing agent Luna" (& a little James Patterson) definitely fit the bill. :)
the was terribly cute. Socially clueless secret agent teen must brave the perils of high school to gain valuable information on the world's most dangerous criminal mind?
Sign me up!
This was fluffy, yet exciting. Some very funny moments, too. The artwork is simple compared to the detailed beautiful (& gore) of last couple of mangas I've been reading. "Black butler" & "ubel blatt." (That means "sinister blade") but simple doesn't mean it was bad. It was actually quite cute. Just a bit different than I'm used to. It's ok though. Different is good.
The characters are nice too. I really like Luna. & Oliver hilarious. So are her "parents". Not sure how I feel about Francesca yet.
Over this was a very good first volume and I definitely look forward to reading volume 2. :) recommended for people who enjoy shojo manga.
Luna is the best as a created, genetically-enhanced secret agent for the U.S. government. Luna is prepared for an espionage mission. There is only one problem—high school. Now having to pose as an ordinary high schooler, Luna goes undercover to figure out the sinister plot of her nemesis, Count Von Brucken. However, is Luna able to handle friends, enemies and emotions while being a top secret spy? Not to mention that the boy she’s crushing on is none other than bad boy Jonah, Count Von Brucken’s son. I really liked this manga series and it was what got me into manga. Although kinda stereotypical storyline (top secret spy has to go undercover as an ordinary citizen but didn’t anticipate the struggles of school and friends) there was still twists and turns in its own universe of a story. Luna is such a cute and cheerful character while being able to beat a dozen of trained men. I believe this story has a good balance between showing strong, female characters while not overdoing an unrealistic female character.
It’s not bad frankly. the story is interesting it just pissed me off that this girl who was literally grown in a lab to be the perfect spy has no social skills. Like I understand her not being great at making friends with normal kids but she doesn’t understand how to interact with people at all and you’d need to be able to do that to go on an undercover mission and not be suspicious. you’d atleast think that in her spy training they’d teach her not to shout “I’ve never been to Paris” upon meeting THE VILLAINS SON who she believes could possibly remember her having been in Paris for a mission (thus blowing her cover)

For such a young girl, Luna is a very good secret agent. And frankly, I can very much relate to being unprepared for teenage emotional issues. After all, who isn't, right... right?
crickets chirping in the background.
Ahem, The story was very fun to read. The art was cute, but lacking some with scenery. It's reminiscent of Pokémon with the classical big anime eyes, but the overall art had a sharper edge that I believe appeals to a more mature audience too.
The story jumps into the action within the first few pages, but slows down a little bit by the middle for more setup and character development. It is definitely worth sticking around though, because it picks backup again and doesn't stop, including through the following volumes.
You can feel the care that went into writing The Amazing Agent Luna leap off the page, or screen for some readers. The story is family friendly, something that an adult or a younger person would enjoy reading, so long as they're young at heart.
I could not sleep last night so I decided to give a random book on my Nook a try, it has been years since I read a manage and Amazing Agent Luna was free so I decided to give it a try.
This was not the best manga I have read but it did have a clear story line. I like the humor mixed in with the serious moments. The drawing was alright and I did enjoy the little moments of the artists and writers adding in comics about making Luna. It is not a manga I would have considered buying I just do not consider the story line unique enough.
This was a fun book that I happened across by accident and I'm glad to have read it.
Luna is a secret agent who finds herself navigating what it's like to be a teenager going to a high school for the first time while also trying to stick to her mission that she's been tasked with.
Along the way, she finds herself making friends, crushing on a boy and also squeezing in secret agent things which is easier said than done even to someone who has known more of what it's like to be a secret agent than a regular girl.
I'm looking forward to continuing this series soon!
Good detailed black and white artwork. English language is smooth. Reads Japanese style but,you can isolate each panel with the double tap method, which should be standard but occasionally is not. The story is the typical alienation of teenagers deal, set in a high school with secrets.
I'm glad I read the prequel books about Jennifer, the control agent first. I'm still not sure how much I'm going to enjoy this series. The writing is okay and the characters have a good starting base. It will depend on how the storyline progresses and how much the characters grow.
This book was cute though I don’t necessarily think it’s my vibe. I thought the characters and the art were very sweet and I especially loved the character profiles at the end of the book. They gave me more insight into who the characters were but I don’t think I’ll be continuing the series, it just lacks something
This was a pretty interesting start to a series. Luna is a greta main character! She's interesting, kickass, and relatable. The side characters are funny and intriguing, as is the overall plot. I will be reading the next volume! 4 stars.
I was pretty surprised by how good this story was. I love the main character, Luna. She's a teenage spy with pretty slick moves, but knows nothing about being a normal teenager. Can't wait to find the rest of the series (which our library didn't have) :(
For the first volume, this book was interesting enough. The story contains some element of actions, romance, and mystery. The son of the villains became acquaintance with our hero here.
This is pure fun! It kind of reminds me of Spy X Family, only Luna is in her teen years where Anya is younger. There is a mix of high school with spying; a lot to like! BTW, Luna predates Spy X Family by quite a bit.
This is not exactly how I imagined this book starting. I read the Amazing agent Jennifer series first before this series and for now that helped. Grated this series is taking place 15 years later but Jennifer seems to have changed so much from the prequel. I guess we will see.
Cute book! The first bit of the book was boring to me and the art style kinda takes some getting used to but overall this read left me with a smile on my face! Francesca and Oliver are so fun!🤣
This is the first Manga book I've read, and I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I will likely check out other books in the series. I found Luna to be an interesting character.
