The women who have the great honor of adorning the pages of our Bible with their presence were very real. As real as you and I are today. They lived and breathed and made mistakes; just as we do today. But God has graciously recorded some of their most incredible moments for us. My prayer is that we can learn from their stories and take to heart the lessons God has for us in His Word. Let’s take a journey in the sandals of a few Real Women in the Bible.

My Faith Was Challenged

I was hesitant at first about reading a two week devotional such a Real Women of the Bible by Jennifer Jennings. I usually prefer thirty day ones but I really like this. I was also concerned that the author had fictionalized some details of the Biblical women but this was done to imagine what might have been happening at the time such as in the case of Hannah and Peninnah. The study question at the end of each days reading were thought provoking. I highly recommend this book for all Christian women and I would suggest having a journal to write the answers to the study questions and journaling thoughts on each days devotion.

Understanding

I really enjoyed this book. I have tried to read the Bible but have trouble understanding the lesson. This book tells the stories of 5 women of the Bible. First it tells what happened to them and then it explains how their faith was strengthened or their prayers were answered. These women were important and God rewarded their faith. The stories are short and after the story, the author shares a prayer for the reader. It is a very uplifting book and easy to understand. I have ordered anther book by the same author.

Good devotional

This was an interesting devotional. I liked the enhanced stories from the scriptures. It gives you a good picture in your head of stories from the Bible that are not very descriptive. I enjoyed the second day of the stories when you read the verses and answer questions. Recommend.

Excellent devotional

I love this author's writing. This is a book I want to own. The stories of a selection of women of the Bible are so well-written and so very interesting. This author brought each woman to life. The questions at the end of each chapter are such a welcome addition. I look forward to reading this author's other books.

I would have liked to have more commentary from the author in this book. It was given at the end of every chapter, but that wasn't enough for me. I know the Bible pretty well, and a simple read of the Bible could cover this book well. No need to buy it, really, because there isn't enough commentary from the author.

This is a delightful collections of bible stories. Most I have never heard of and now look forward to reading, from the bible. This devotional is a good, quick and enjoyable experience. Enjoy this book!

Sweet little bible study for women that gives a semi-fictional account of a woman with overwhelming problems and a God that reaches down to meet the need. The questions are challenging and thought provoking. I read this quickly and will have to go over it more slowly next time.

Second read took it from sweet to an excellent learning tool. Could not slow down as much as I intended though. Maybe the third time?
