Touring with Beggar's Choice. Sharing a bus with four of the hottest men in the music business. Most women's dream - one woman's nightmare!

Three years ago Nell's world came crashing down around her and she removed herself from an industry that had taken everything from her. Circumstances however dictate that she take the job of backing singer to Beggar's Choice while they tour Europe. She adopts the motto of get in and get it done, but she never expects to fall for Sid Hudson, the enigmatic guitarist, and a man with more baggage than an airport conveyer belt!

Eighteen months ago Sid Hudson suffered a much publicized overdose. Now he's clean and sober for the first time in years, and focused on living a different life. He can't help noticing the beautiful singer touring with them, but after his last toxic girlfriend, the last thing that he needs is to fall into another relationship.

She doesn't want to fall in love with a rock star. He doesn't want to fall in love at all. Sometimes it's the choices that we don't make that are the best ones.

This is Book Two in the Beggar's Choice series but it can be read as a standalone.

So. I am currently a little addicted to this authors work. It had everything I like in a romance and some tropes I love. It had a few misunderstandings. I know this trope is not everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s totally mine. Hurt and comfort, rock stars and a tour. Sigh. Loved the drama and angst and it is super hot with a nice slow build. Loved it. Sid was such a broody and broken hero and I just loved Nell. I am straight into the 3rd book now and hope the 4th is coming sometime soon!!!!!

I read the 3 Beggar's Choice books because I wanted to read the spin-off book, The Summer of Us. I loved her book Rule Breakers and wanted to read more. Sadly ... I had major issues with all 3 Beggar's Choice books.

**this review is for all 3 books**

For the story arc - nicely done. The band is finding it's footing after one of it's members overdoses. The series spans years, each book centering around a different band member's romance while overlapping the lives of all the members, family, friends, and love interests. I liked how the non-romance elements developed. Drug use is no joke and I think it was handled well. Life on the road isn't easy and I think that was handled well. Families aren't always close and I think that was handled well. General conflict is expected and there was enough in these books that I liked despite my opinion of the romance elements.

Which brings me to the romance elements. I hated them. If I rated these books based solely on the romances then they would each be only 1 star.

As I mentioned, I read this author's book Rule Breakers, which is an MM title with 2 male leads, and I loved it. Then I read these 3 books and was disappointed, even angry at times. And then I read the spin-off book, which is also an MM title with 2 male leads, and loved it too. I liked all of John and Matt's appearances in the BC trilogy and loved them even more in their own story.

So why did I love this author's MM books but not her MF books?

I think it comes down to equality. The couples in both the MM romances where much more evenly matched. Yes, the had issues. Yes, they stumbled and made mistakes and worked through things. Yes, they were fun and romantic.

Unfortunately, the same can not be said for the MF couples. Everything between the couples was pushed to such extremes. Attraction was always instantaneous, which is fine, except the way it was written was very copy/paste. I didn't count how many times their eyes "darkened" in desire but it was so over the top that it became ridiculous, especially when it was noted during a time when the couple was in separate corners of a large, dark room. Insecurity caused all the couples doubt the intent and sincerity of each other so the misunderstandings became absurd. Jealousy wasn't just jealousy ... it turned into blind rage and cruelty. The amount of venom thrown at each other blew my mind. And while the women got a few unfair digs in, most of the nastiness came from the men. The pattern emerged early. Obvious attraction, sudden sex that seemed to surprise and overtake the couple, a brief moment of tenderness before "reality" set in and one of them (usually the man) freaked out, followed by a lot of misunderstandings and unwarranted jealousy and intentional emotional abuse, but then momentarily forgiven during angry makeup sex, except that nope, they just restarted the toxic cycle all over again until finally, by the end of the book, they finally get that the other person is not out to get them somehow.

The whole series was romantically exhausting. I don't understand this kind of treatment in real life, and I don't understand it any better in fiction. A fiery relationship, yes. Out-right cruelty, no. And for it to be the same for all 3 books .... I don't get it. I just have no idea why the author chose to turn strong, caring men and women into decades-old stereotype caricatures of themselves. They were on equal footing before the relationship, and after they got together for good. But during the events of the book .... respect and equality were severely lacking.

And because the romances were out of my understanding, I noticed how much else was repeated throughout the stories, even in the MM books that I loved. Names, drug abuse and overdoses/deaths, twins, sketchy exes intent on havoc, bad relationships with parents, various phrases in key moments.

Others may not view these romances in the same way I do so I'm going middle of the road on the rating, because as angry as I was about some of the author's choices, I still kept reading. That says something.

OMG the feels...

This book put me through the wringer!!! I had to take a break and message my book buddy Kathy because I was a blubbering mess at one point. And that ladies is a brilliantly written book......
This book will put you through every emotion imaginable. I am freaking floving the characters, storyline, hot AF sex scenes and well dangit everything about this series. This hits home for myself considering I grew up with drug addicted parents a d I have a twin sister whom makes my heart smile. I couldn't, wouldn't, and never dream of my life or next breath without her. I liked that this book dealt with some heavy issues and it actually had more of a Rocker feel to it.
Since I don't do spoilers just know this book and series is amazing CHECK it out NOW!!

So angsty and dramatic. There were so many times when I just wanted to puch Sid in the face and smack Nell for letting him off the hook so easily. I didn't wanna put it down and I was so sucked into the story that it has to be 4 stars from me.

the book was 4.5 stars for me till the 70% mark when sid did something extremely stupid.

another 1 star deducted for their dysfunctional relationship. sid was really the king of assholes. the way he always talks to nell whenever they quarrel is uncalled for. pretty much like verbal abuse and then he will always feel guilty afterwards. i got kinda tired of it after reading it a couple times.

it's a pity because the book started out so good. if only sid was less of an asshole.

oh well, but still at least the epilogue was cute.

2 stars (possibly 3 but Sid was an ass)

This book started as a solid 4-star read but Sid's attitude kept dragging it down which is a shame because I loved him in bk1.

He had too many asshole moments for me to even think him and Nell should be together. I was still hating him at 95% so no way did I buy the HEA.

Sid gave me emotional whiplash and Nell was WAY too forgiving. As individuals, not in a relationship, I like them. Together they were awful. Definite miss for me with this one, which is unfortunate because I liked the 1st book (and some of her other books). I will be continuing with the series though, as I still want to read about the other boys.

4.5 Stars...I really, really liked this second book in the Beggar’s Choice series and can’t figure out why I waited so long after reading book one to pick this one up. I won’t be making this mistake with book three!

The emotion in this book is so visceral...I think I broke down in tears at least three different times. Any book that has you with a crying/almost crying sore throat and headache when you”feel finished is a fantastically well-written one.

The two main characters are well developed plus we get more character development of the secondary characters from the first book. These characters evoke strong feelings as well, whether it’s the warmth of Charlie and Mabe, the humor of Bram and Viv, or the all out disgust “I want to throat punch you” feelings inspired by Leah, Vanessa, Bill or Nell’s mom. That’s an author who has done her job well.

The story arc moves a bit slow at times and there are a few plot holes that don’t work for me. These come at the hands of Sid and the cruel way he treats Nell despite professing his love for her. The first one is understandable from the plot perspective (though frankly I hate that old trope) but the second one serves no purpose and the third one is just plain awful, made even worse by the ultimate way Nell caves eventually. It really serves to undermine what the author tried to build in Nell’s character and just makes her look like a spineless wimp. It also seems to go against what the author tried to get us to believe about Sid as well. It really disappointed me, making me feel like the author just wanted a quick wrap up, in which case she should not have written that beach scene.

However that one lapse isn’t enough to turn me off this author or this series. I’m moving on to book three right now and I strongly recommend you give this books a try. You’ll love them.

Another good, angsty rockstar story - worth your while

Once again, with Book 2 in this series, Morton draws three-dimensional people. She hits all the right emotional notes (again) at the right times, and you feel everything the heroine is feeling. Sid has his points of view here and there, too, but it’s mostly through her POV.

The only thing missing is, what happened with Bill? I’d have loved to see him sacked.

Loved it!!

I loved Sid in book one of this series so I was excited to read his story. Everything was great up to a certain point but then he turned into an idiot lol and made me want to murder him!! What a rediculous set of circumstances, I mean really! Then that ending...epic! So sweet! Can't wait to see what's next! Hope it's Bram's story!

Far too much drama and cattiness for me. I couldn’t be happy about the reunion of such a painfully dysfunctional couple.

TITLE: Trust Me
SERIES: (Beggar’s Choice #2)
AUTHOR: Lily Morton
PUBLICATION: Sept 24th 2015 (ARC)
Dual POV's and No Cliffhanger; Can be read as a stand-alone.

If you're a lover of sexy, rockstar love stories, you'll get that plus much more and you’ll love Trust Me.

Nell doesn’t want to fall in love with a rock star. Sid doesn’t want to fall in love at all. These two lost souls find themselves drawn to each other after Nell takes on the job of backup singer for Beggar’s Choice and meets sexy guitarist Sid Hudson.

I LOVED the slow build up of Nell and Sid’s relationship. The sexual tension between these two was undeniable. I was hooked pretty early on with the easy flow of writing and the fun banter between the main characters and their friends. I thoroughly enjoyed this book from the beginning until the last page. I didn't want it to end!

4.5 stars!!!

Beautiful & Funny

I loved the first book & I think that I loved this one even more. Fell in love with Sid even though I wanted to yell at him sometimes. Love the camaraderie of the band too. Looking forward to the next book, I'm hoping that it will be about Bram.

This is a great rock star romance. It's not a groupie, love at first sight story. It is a really love story with ups, downs, and a HEA.
