Magic: Book Three In The Kemla Saga

Rate this book

The long awaited book 3 to the Kemla saga has arrived. Join Kemla as she discovers how much hard work is involved in being in love, having magic and learning to joust... have I mentioned that a girl jousting is illegal? That her fire magic is out of control? That Leon isn't shy of declaring his feelings for her?

Aquila Realm is the fairest of them all, it's not really a bad place to live, but a woman carrying a sword still gets unwanted attention. A woman entering in a tournament - now that's illegal. Which is wrong, according to Kemla, and she's set on changing things. Even if she has to disguise herself as a guy to do it.

Meanwhile she also has to keep up appearances, show up to her magic lessons and her job working for the horse mistress. This is a recipe for disaster, she just can't see it yet.

Join our kickass girl as she changes the way society perceives girls, deals with two guys who are overstepping their boundaries, learns to love a ferret, saves everyone in the end, and earns her honour. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll cheer.

This excellent book (i.e., 3 novella saga is actually 1 novel) reminds me of Tamora Pierce.

An excellent read with character consistency flows steadily, abrupt only in novella endings which are easily picked up in the next episode of the saga. If only the publishers were as honest with the readers as this author is to her characters. The action is fluid as are the interactions. The story is neatly wrapped leaving room for future progression for our heroine or another central character.
