This had potential, but...

The set up was good, but Mars (Hero) was suspicious of Nike (heroine) for the majority of the book. He actually wanted to kill her to protect his identity. So, well, that just takes the romance out of it for me. He needed to come around faster - MUCH faster - for me to be happy.

This had the potential of being a really good book. The setup was promising, but it just really fell short for me. I never felt a connection between Mars and Nike. Mars spends 90% of the book having suspicious inner thoughts about Nike, and he just comes across as really cold. The dialogue also felt stilted and oddly formal. The ending was wrapped up far too easily also, just an all around miss for me.

Spoiler Ahead This book wasn't as dark as I thought it would be. Mars last hit ever and then he's free. It was in the bag until he heard her react to the muffled shot from his sniper rifle. He can't leave a witness, he may have been seen before he completely covered his face. Mars left the roof to pursue her, but went back to his rifle when she was getting away. He caught her in his sights, but couldn't pull the trigger so he let's her go. When he sees her at a fundraiser and Nike doesn't recognized him. While this was a good read I found myself wanting a bit more of a back story on both the MC. While the book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I have read this author other before and I am looking forward to reading more of her work.

Mars is a hitman , who wants out of the Tiresome, Never-Ending Blood Thirsty Business , but on what he thinks is his last Stake Out , becomes a lot more complicated than anything he's ever been involved in.... A witness!!

Nike saw something , something Horrific that she shouldn't have witnessed and now she's running scared for her life .
At a charity event weeks later how was she to know the delicious man chatting her up is the very man hunting her down ??

Can Mars Escape his past in order to keep his witness safe ?

I Love hitman / mafia romances they are so edgy and raw , but I really couldn't get into this one . Mars and Nike could have had lots of chemistry , but he was so caught up in the what if's , keeping his identity hidden and Nike's mouth quiet about the hit gone wrong that the romance portion came to late for me and was lost on the stories fast abrupt ending .
I wish The author had made a few changes to the story, because other than the fast ending and lack of chemistry , she had an exciting storyline .

Mars was on his last hit, once it was done he was walking away to start a life he only had dreamed about. He didn't expect to have a witness though and when he didn't catch her at first, he is stunned when he sees her again at an event. No recognition of who he is, but Mars can't let it go she is a danger to him he never expected.

Nike isn't completely sure of what she saw, but it has her a bit on edge wondering if the man will come after her. Meeting Mars is the distraction she is looking for and they quickly realize the chemistry between them is off the charts. What will happen once Nike realizes she is sleeping with the enemy though?

Fascinating story. I liked the way the story unfolded and especially the way Mars questions himself on what to do about Nike. Great read, will check out more from this author in the future.

Nike💋, a troubled young woman, is on the roof of an older building in a bad part of town. She realizes too late she is not alone.
Mars😈🔪🔫, mafia hit man, is on the roof, too. He is doing his last hit with his sniper rifle. The man he is killing will be the last one, he will be the final kill🔫 that will end his ties to the mafia🔫🔪 and his past.
Going forward, he is now a stockbroker, a philanthropist, a rich man from years of investing, an upstanding citizen!
Yet he is still a dead sexy man with dark desires🐺🍌🌋👋, and a closed off past.
Nike💋 doesn't see Mars😈🔫🔪 until he fires the one shot🔫 through the suppressor, taking out his target. Then All she sees is a man in dark clothing, his head and face are covered, but he sees her. He knows he can't leave a witness. He runs after her!
The chase is on....
Wish the book could have been longer with more about Nike 's family relationship and her relationship with Mars.
Great book though for a quick read!

Not what I expected. I would loved for it to have a connection t To the main characters as well as to the reader. Way way to much inter thinking, like chapters full of it. Mars will be suspicious of Nike from start to finish, that's not a relationship that any broken soul would want to be in but yet it's here.

Caught - A Hitman Romance with a side of humanity.
The story of Mars and Nike kept me entertained and turning pages well into the morning hours. Mars is a reformed hitman looking to make a new start in life, but Nike witnesses his last horrendous act. Mars allows the wide eyed girl to flee, and the encounter shakes them both. When the two connect again it is under very different circumstances which yields very different results.
Stella Noir wrote another dark romance with the perfect amount of heat. Her imagination and character development keep me coming back for more.

Para ser un libro corto me gusto.

Ella ve como el mata a alguien en un callejón. El le atrae pero siempre tiene esta situación de querer matarla porque es una testigo y el odia que hayan testigos.

En una fiesta se encuentran, pero ella no sabe quién es el y el si.

A partir de ahí vemos la tensión que hay entre estos dos y medida va a avanzando el libro ella se dará cuenta.

WOW!!!!!!!! I love Stella's books. The grit and raw sense to them. I like that even the "baddest" of circumstances can raise not so bad people. Of course I REALLY enjoy the journey these people go through, from the really bad to the not so bad.

Mars (Joe is his first name, but he doesn't like to use that as it was his fathers name and this is not a good thing) is a hitman who is trying to get out from it, but it he ever truly going to be away from it? He is about to do something to make sure of his exiting the dark world he has been in for far too long and move him forward. Just this one last thing to do and it is on to better things for him. Ok, well that would be awesome if there wasn't a witness.....

Nike (aka witness) is someone who has risen from being raised in the dark slums of life and moved herself up and away from it. She is a good girl just brought up in a not so good area. But she never forgets where she came from. It is a part of her, but not a happy part. She is in search of feeling safe....to do that she goes to the rooftops and allows her to feel at home/safe. That is until that one night......

Poor Mars, thinking he was all but out, is now in need of finding this person that saw what he did. He needs to get to her and get her not to tell. But he is not able to, not from a lack of trying though. He needs to attend a charity dinner as an MC for a brief moment. She is attending this charity as a favor to her friend/roommate, and because there is a bet between Nike and her roommate....Nike is not one who is willing to lose, but she also is completely nervous. He sees her, not expecting to at all. She has no clue this hot man that has made eye contact with her is the one she saw that night.....

I do not want to spoil you getting to read the book, and yet I want to go on about all the awesome twists in the book, and more. What is this that Mars must do to be "free?" What happens when they meet up at the charity? Do they get a happy ending or do they both get none of what they need or deserve? Does Mars become free of what is weighing him down? You really really need to read this book to see. I promise you that you will love it as much as I do.

Mars is working very hard to learn how to be a good man. He's spent so many years being trained and doing bad things that he's not sure he can be anything else. But he wants to be. Nike is a shy, innocent, young woman who doesn't seem to have a lot of self-esteem. Their connection comes across instantly, but the chemistry between them isn't conveyed as clearly in the story. I still found it believable even though most of that chemistry happens "off-screen". It was an enjoyable read that I was able to finish quickly.

It was a good story about a Hitman having one last hit and of course a woman sees him. Mars has no option but to take her out but of course he could never do that. But he must find her and he does in the last place he would ever look. Good story but kinda predictable

I received this book for a voluntary, completely honest and non incentivized review. This is a short read but contains a bit of suspense and heat, but not enough to push over the edge. It read more like a tease. It's a nice distraction but wish there was more.

I felt this was all ok.. I was sucked in from the beginning and enjoyed the romance between hitman and editor. some hot sex scenes. overrall it was a nice short read.

Joe Mars was close to his goal, one more job to reach it. He didn’t want the mobster life anymore. Killing had lost its appeal to him. When there was a witness to his last job he was very worried. He had to fix his mistake. Nike Halsted was very scared. Witness of a murder, she was fearing for her life. What to do? This story kept me interested all the time. The intrigue, the suspense around the two main characters was very good worked. Mars was cold, ruthless and calculating. Deep in his mission but at the same time he was fed of his current life and wanted a change like now. Struggling with himself, because he thought he was losing his north, he listened to his heart and went for more. Physically, Nike was petit but a strong willed woman with hot blood and more resources that what she was showing. Liked the story line, the twists, the mystery, the sex and how the author developed the plot and worked with Mars witness issue. I enjoy strong situations where the characters had life or death situations and had to consider the odds and the choices they have. The story kept me guessing about the outcome because Mars was focused in his safety. Have read other stories by this author and I think this is the most I’ve enjoyed.

Nike runs into Mars a masked hitman who just killed his mob target. Unfortunately for Nike there is nothing like being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Mars was trained to never have witnesses. Nike goes into fight or flight mode to escape Mars who is chasing after her. Mars thinks he should kill this woman that witnessed him commit this crime. Luckily Nike was able to escape. But as fate would have it these two just happen to be attending the same function together. When their eyes meet lust sets in. Mars immediately recognizes Nike as the woman on the roof. Nike has no clue Mars is the hitman. She approaches him on a dare and these two hit it off. Mars is a total bad boy who is trying to sever ties with the mob. Nike and Mars start to date while Mars still struggles with the decision to potentially kill his witness. Will these two be headed to disaster the longer they see each other? Will Nike discover the truth about who Mars is? This was an exciting book filled with suspense, passion and intrigue. This book was crap, I immediately disliked this book. It came off to me like a child porn flick, I could only finish cuz I new the"girl"was early 20's. Nike came off to me described as very ugly and I quote only words and sentences used in this book that will make you think otherwise of reading it... "I turned just in time to catch the pale and frightened face of a young girl", "it has to be a young woman, a girl even", "all of that surrounded by a wild mane of thick and wavy hair. "she is also innocent, just a young girl", "that thick and untamed hair, a wild mane dancing on top of a slim frame.It makes her head appear huge in comparison to her delicate and almost child like body", "gazing up at me like a curious child", "My hands look like they belong to a pale child when I place them against this buff chest", etc...


On top of everything the author drawed out everything because she kept repeating the same things over and over differently. It was exhausting and boring reading this book wouldn't recommend it.

I liked this book. I am never sure what to expect with a hitman story so this was a pleasant surprise. Mars might be a hitman but he's not intrinsically a bad man. He is trying to leave that life behind and become someone good and respectable. Unfortunately, Nike is a witness and he's not sure what exactly she saw or what he's going to do about it. He's torn by his desire for her and the fear of losing the new life he has crafted for himself.

Nike has tried to forget what she saw that night. Between the hot sex and the odd and intense questions he's always asking, meeting Mars has been a real distraction, however, she can't help wondering why he is with her since he's way out of her league.

This book kept me turning the pages. It's dark but not too dark. The sex is rough but not masochistic. It's most definitely a love story and I really enjoyed it.

Caught is the suspenseful and intense story about Mars, a Hitman who wants to get out of the business and therefore he's accepting one last job so he can retire for the rest of his live . He never thought that his last job would become a lot more complicated when he meets Nike , a college student .....as a witness !! But when they meet later on a charity event ,does she actually recognized him as the shooter from the roof or not ?????
This was a real page turner , one that has you hooked from beginning till end . The story isn 't too long but just long enough to really enjoy it and getting into the likeable characters of Nike and Mars . I really enjoyed this suspenseful ,intriguing hot story !
This is my first read from this author but it surely won 't be my last .

Nike witnesses Mars carry out his last hit to get him out from under the mob's thumb. She doesn't get a good look at him though and never tells anyone. When chance brings them together Nike approaches him, not knowing his true identity. They begin a relationships...Nike likes Mars, despite his odd behavior and the fact that he is always suspicious of her. Mars likes Nike despite the fact that he thinks she may be tricking him in some way. I didn't really feel any connection between these two, they were a little flat. And Mars had to be the lamest hitman ever...He works to save up enough money to have a life when he gets out and then meticulously kills countless people except for the two. And I don't think the story developed good enough reasons for him to suddenly grow a conscience where they are concerned. It just didn't work for me.

I received this for my honest review. Mars is a Hitman who wants to be free of the tiresome, blood thirsty job he was thrown into at a young age but on what he thinks is his last hit becomes a lot more complicated ......A Witness.
Nike was doing her usual rooftop gazing or so she thought but she saw something that she shouldn't have, she witnessed the shot and is now running scared for her life. She tries to forget about it and get on with her life knowing she didn't report it and hoping he never finds her but at a charity event weeks later how was she to know the delicious man she went to chat up is the very man hunting her down........ This story was suspenseful, interesting and the plot/ storyline flowed with the characters that were easily relatable. I really enjoyed reading this.

Mars is a Hitman for the Mob but he is planning to retire from this nasty job with this one last hit. Unfortunately, there arises one slight complication, a witness. Nike just happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. She sees the kill shot and runs for her life. Exciting chase! Weeks later, she meets Mars at a charity event but doesn't recognize him. However, he knows her and thus begins a very exciting chain of events. Very well written with lots of suspense and stimulating inner dialogue. Mars is trying to leave a business that he hates...just one more mission to get free. Nike possibly witnesses a murder, but she isn't sure at first. Weeks go by and at the urging of her roommate she talks to a really hot guy at a party. She doesn't realize it is the guy that she ran from weeks ago, but he knows she is the one that got away. Secrets have a way of coming out, no matter how much you don't want them to. These two have one heck of a secret...I really enjoyed this book. I received an arc for an honest review.

I rarely give 1 star ratings but this one was just not good. I tried to like it as I've liked some of her other stories but there was just no clear reason for anything. He wants to kill her because she saw him but she really didn't and no idea he was the person on the rooftop. There is never any shown affection and says he's falling for her until he gets mad at someone for shooting him because it might have hurt her instead. Literally an hour before in the story timeline he was disgusted with her and couldn't understand why he hadn't killed her yet.... idk...
