BLACK EDGE Series (5 books!)
Mr. Black bought me at a secret auction on his yacht. I’ve never done anything like this before. What happens when one night isn’t enough?
Does Alice move back to New York or does she stay in L.A? Did Alice and Tristan resolve any of their problems? I feel like the ending was a rush and that the author wanted to wrap it up quickly. I don't think that Alice and Tristan resolved any of their issues. Yes, the grand gesture at the end of the book was romantic but, I personally don't think it was enough. I was a little disappointed with this book, the blurb sounded great! There was a tonne of angst, it was like an emotional roller-coaster with all the highs and lows of Alice and Tristan's relationship. I don't know how I feel, I liked it but, I didn't like it at the same time. And this is why I don't write reviews!
I don't think I ever wished the main character did not end up with THE guy!!! What is wrong with Alice? She keeps taking Tristan back!!!! What is wrong with Tristan? He always put other thing in front of Alice!!! The book was a fun read... Very frustrating some times... But I see how real the characters are and I hope there is another book. I NEED to know what happens with Dylan and Julia. I also need to know if Alice and Tristan will last more than 2 weeks.
Rant over!!! ;)

Great idea for story, but unfortunately the execution failed. It had so much potential but was an enormous let down. Poor character development and the leads were so lame The h, after getting broken up with (with the love of her life) keeps taking him back. First, he was scared of them getting too serious and starting college. Second, he gets an internship and starts spending his extra time with a colleague who's hot and looks like Kate Middleton; and decides he's confused and has too much on his plate and wants to "take a break, BUT not break up" because he's so confused. Third, she gets depressed and drunk and ends up marrying her friend, room mate, and Hs best friend. Blah blah blah...
This is a college romance staring Tristan and Alice. They've been best friends since middle school. One day in 11th grade that all changes when Tristan kisses Alice. Tristan's family moves away for his senior year and they decide to have a long distance relationship. They've fallen madly in love with each other so they decide to apply to the same colleges. Everything is going well until two weeks prior to college starting when Tristan announces that he wants to break up with Alice. Alice is heartbroken and trying her best to move on after Tristan. She heads off to New York for college, what does she find when she arrives? Tristian is one of her roommates. How will they move past this. There are so many obstacles in their way. You'll have to read to see how they overcome everything that's thrown their way.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Okay I first read this story when it was published seperatly. Loved Tristan and Alice's story then and love it still. One Semester I really enjoyed this book. You have Alice and Tristan who have been friends almost all of their lives. They started out as friends then best friends and it turned into a relationship. Tristan broke up with Alice a couple of weeks before she was due to start at Columbia University. Tristan happen to be one of her suite mates, wow didn't think that would happen. Things weren't really great between them. But you have Dylan and Juliet who were awesome. Things weren't great Alice still has a broken heart. Tristan starts dating a girl name Tea. Oh yeah that ducked for Alice. Tristan's and Alice's friend from back home came to visit. But Nick's visit didn't go very well. But the first night nick was there when everyone was asleep Nick was on the couch Alice wakes up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, it goes really really wrong. Nick tries to force himselfon Alice and Tristan saves her. After that things seem to get better between them. Alice meets a guy named Simon they start dating. But Tristan doesn't like Simon. So Alice is dating Simon and Tristan is dating Tea. Things with Tristan and Alice were up and down with them. But when Simon plans a trip to a cabin, Tristan goes into protection mode and tells Alice that Simon does drug but that didn't go well. So Alice goes with Simon anyways, and guess what she finds out Tristan was right. So can you guess what happens. Alice confronts him and then she leaves. She takes off and starts to walk to the train station. About a mile into her walk she starts to get nervous / afraid. But Tristan comes to her rescue. He tells her that he and Tea broke up. Then he tells Alice that he loves her, that he misses her. Tristan wants her back. But she is scared. And the Tristan has a surprise for her he takes her to the roof and has the whole romance thing going on. He tells her he wants to be her boyfriend again. So it happens they are back together and in love.
One Weekend Well Tristan, Alice, Juliet and Dylan are back from break for there second semester. Tristan and Alice started out happy, but with his class and his internship he has no time. He wanted a break. Alice was heart broken heart. Remember Tea well they are still friends. So Tea is writing a new book. She is going to Atlantic City to do some research, she invites Alice and her friends. So while there they drank, drank and drank. oh boy, so Alice and Dylan end up getting married.Neither one could remember. So Alice didn't want Tristan to know and Dylan didn't want Payton to know. So that backfired big time. Tristan found out because of a post card, him and Dylan fought, Alice got hurt, Tristan tells Payton. So Tristan turn vengeful. So basically he got the college experience he want in the first book. Alice found herself thru it all. She decided that she was going to transfer to a college closer to home. But then Tristan confessed his feelings, she wasn't going for it. But when she was at the airport to fly home to California Tristan shows up. So they get back together and he even returns to his childhood home so he is close to Alice. This was a really great book.
So this book is awesome. Read it you won't be disappointed. Charlotte never fails me.
I love the beginning chapter where we meet the characters and learn their quirks and fears. Picking out the comedy duo, the player and the straight man. The play between characters builds over time, you feel a constant sense of anxiety due to Tristan and Alice's past. You wonder if you would be as calm and accepting as Alice is in the same circumstances. But I love their petty arguments and adore her no shite attitude when calls him out on his. I thought there would be more lighthearted moments with Juliet and Alice, and after a few chapters I did wonder about Juliet's part in their story, but as it is revealed you see her as the distraction for Dylan. As I read more chapters I could feel my frustration rising with Tristan and Alice, why are they like this? why aren't they better defined in their positions within their relationship? I kinda wanted to knock their heads together! Reading on and you get the feeling there's more going on for Tristan, the breakup doesn't make sense and his actions don't tie up. The author prompts my intrigue and I want to keep reading, I need to know about Tristan. Alice is more transparent, her character is clearly someone who doesn't hide her emotions well and you learn to read her. As their communication and relationship starts to dwindle again, your heart goes out to both of them, they seem so well suited. You feel frustration that they continue to hold back. And then....... Oh My God! Tristan Stop! I want to shout at him, I want to slap some sense into him. Why? Why would you say that, think that, act that way? Just when you think it can't get any worse, Oh Lord! How do they come back from this? How do you fix this, I read on thinking there was no way back. I completely lost myself in the book. I have only recently found this author, so i haven't read many of her books, but I will be now! A must read, highly recommended!
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review (Thank you!).
Tristan and Alice had been friends for many years, and finally, in their teenage years, they dated. Now they’re about to go off to college and Tristan breaks up with her. When they get to New York they’re surprised to find out they’re roommates. When Alice realizes there’s no way to change it, she’s not very happy and knows it will be awkward. That doesn’t even begin to cover it…
One Year was a deeply moving romance, with a colorful cast of characters who kept me completely involved and thoroughly entertained. This story had plenty of depth and many trials and misunderstandings. It wasn’t simply a book about a romance. There was plenty of detail and a lot of character interaction that kept me on my toes. There were some really intense moments and plenty of surprises to keep your attention the whole way through. Ms, Byrd is a new-to-me author, but I’m very glad I found her. I’ll be looking for more, now and in the future! 4 1/2 Stars!
I was so excited when I heard that Charlotte Byrd was releasing a New Adult College Romance.... I couldn't wait to see her hand in the New Adult world... I was not disappointed! At. All.
This was a coming of age, New Adult Romance, about two people learning their way through life and essentially each other.
Charlotte has written such a great story and I can't wait to get my hands on more New Adult Romance from her in the future.
This is book 2 in Charlotte Byrds New Adult Romance and I didn't know it could get better! Poor Alice, I seriously don't know how she deals with Tristan and his flip flopping ways. He makes me want to pull my hair out. So much drama! But, I guess when you really truly care about someone, you give your all. That's what Alice does, I hope in the next installment that Tristan can redeem himself with more than just flowers, I'm sorry, let's get back together.
I'm officially hooked on this college romance. Can't wait for more.
****I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.****
Tristan and Alice were friends forever. Best friends. Then they got together in 11th grade and he broke her heart, breaking up with her two weeks before they went away to college. And then they ended up suite mates.
I loved the premise of the story. And that he eventually realized how stupid he was to break up with Alice. But I really wanted to smack him around for everything he put Alice through. The book finds the couple together and apart frequently. I found myself skimming pages trying to get past all the back and forth, only to keep finding more of the same.
Overall, the story was good. I just don't think it needed to be as long as it was.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
So I started liking the book, the characters are great but for some reason I'm starting to get annoyed of the main characters. Tristan is supposedly loves her but for some reason always walked out on her. Why does she keeps on taking him back? Never have I read a book and half way through jump all way to the ending because I was getting annoy. The way it ended doesn't even fits the part where she's mad at him and all of a sudden he's there to go with her. I don't know I have a bad feeling that they won't last long. Hahah sorry this is the first book I think that the main character be better off separated. Always the first huh?
One Year by Charlotte Byrd was an amazing book, It consisted of two previously published books, One Semester and One Weekend, by Charlotte Byrd. In both books we met Tristan and Alice. When they left for college, Tristan broke up with Alice. Little did they know that when they got to college, they would be roommates. This was a great book and I really enjoyed reading it. I recommend this book for everyone.
I didn't really like this book . I'm not sure why Alice keeps taking Tristen back. He is an asshole . I understand being in love with your high school sweetheart , I've been with mine for 13 years. However if he were to treat me the way Tristen treats Alice we would not be together. These two need go their separate ways or actually sit down and talk , actually resolve some issues but they never do
This was an amazing romance book. The chances of your ex boyfriend being your roommate is crazy. Alice goes on a roller coaster ride of emotions. No relationship is perfect and when you add the stress of college on top of that, drama is going to happen. I love reading about Alice and Tristan I hope there is another book. I would love to find out what happens next.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This is a well written story that is full of teen drama, and a couple of laughs. Tristan is a major douche, Alice is a little pathetic. Their on again off again relationship is so full of drama, sometimes it seems like too much. After Vegas things get real interesting for a while. It is definitely a different read.
Alice is moving to NYC to attend school and live one of her dreams. Having recently had her heart broken by Tristan she wants nothing more than to move on.
So when she arrives at her new home and finds out he is one of the roommates imagine her shock. She can do it though for a year... how hard will it be?
I really enjoyed reading the ARC I received. While the story line is a bit outside the box from what I usually read; it was very refreshing to see a new HEA.
What a lovely wholesome read. I really enjoyed the relationship between the characters, Charlotte always gets a great level of chemistry. Well done Charlotte looking forward to your next offering. Well, you don't disappoint Charlotte. This is a great read.
