Der im ersten Drittel des 13. Jahrhunderts entstandene, anonym überlieferte Mauricius von Craûn ist eine besonders vielschichtige, facettenreiche schwankhafte Erzählung. In ihr wird das Ideal von Frauendienst und Hoher Minne ironisch parodiert, indem es in Handlung umgesetzt und mit der Wirklichkeit konfrontiert wird.
Der Text wird - ebenso wie der eine inhaltlich verwandten altfranzösischen Fabliau - zweisprachig präsentiert und in einem umfangreichen Kommentar erläutert.
