Daryl's husband left her and he didn't just leave her, but he left with her best friend. Daryl lost two important people at once, but now it's time to move on. After a night out, she throws her wedding ring in a fountain and her friend Sam suggest that they could take a fortune forecast. They both got good news, especially Daryl, who was predicted to fall in love by Friday and the chance is as high as 99 %. To help the fate a little bit, Sam invites Daryl along to speed dating. The speed dating offers several opportunities, but the best man seems to live much closer-Daryl's neighbor Will. Daryl and Will are both hesitant in the dating game, will the fortune forecast come true?

It was the first book by the author, but I truly liked the writing style and the characters were realistic and easy to relate to. There was so much humor in it and I especially loved the speed dating moments. It's a great book filled with humor, romance and importance of friends. I am definitely looking forward to read more by the author.

My first thoughts when I came across this book besides being very glad there was a new Fiona Collins, was that the title keeps reminding me of the animated film Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs. Well there is only one word difference, but what a difference it makes, however yet there are some similarities too, both a pretty funny, and both also feature a weather girl!

In fact I was laughing from the opening pages, where Daryl was waxing lyrical about how pleased she is with her rather large behind, and how on trend it is now to be well endowed in that region. We then move onto her throwing her wedding ring into a fountain at Trafalgar Square and best friend Sam using a fortune telling app.

The app states categorically that Daryl has a 99% of falling in love by Friday...it was Sunday when the book starts. So what proceeds is Sam getting Darryl to do speed dating amongst other things to try and get a date a day to increase her chances of falling in love.

Darryl who is only just divorced, goes along with it, and the speed dating event they go to is one of the best I have read about in chick lit. It's hilarious, full of people who have dressed up, and an MC who is big on the cringe factor, and has sorted out 3 different rounds for the speed dating!

Sam also persuades Darryl to a singles cooking event, where the quality of men they meet was arguably better, and again was a fun event to read about.

I pretty much loved all the character descriptions in this book, I had a real feel for their personalities, even if I didn't like the character, the writing was done well.

What I am quickly discovering is that Fiona Collins is a fresh new voice in romantic comedy writing, I really enjoyed her previous book and this one is even better. I found myself smiling my way through this book, and this is the first book I've read during the Olympics, where the sport hasn't been a bigger draw than the book! Anything that can keep my attention while I'm trying to multi task with top level sport, definitely is a winner in my eyes!

Thank you so much to Netgalley and Carina for this review copy. This was my honest opinion.

Ugh, I just never really enjoyed this book. From the very beginning when she starts off by going on about her big bum I didn't have a good feeling... It never really got better. It was such a slow start, but then when you get to the ending I felt it was rushed. So slow throughout, why rush the end? Oh well, not really for me.

Review first posted on my blog 'A Spoonful of Happy Endings': http://spoonfulofhappyendings.blogspo...

After her husband ran off with her best friend roughly a year ago, Daryl Williams is now a forty-something divorcee trying her very best to move and get her life back on track. Her friend Sam truly believes it is time for Daryl to get back in the dating game and this is only confirmed after the two of them take a fortune forecast. According to the forecast, Daryl has a 99% chance of falling in love by the end of the week and Sam is determined to make the forecast come true. With her handsome new neighbor Will and evenings filled with speed dating and a cooking class for singles, Daryl undoubtedly has enough opportunities to get some male attention, but is she really ready to fall in love again after everything that has happened…?

I think I am slowly falling in love with Fiona Collins and her writing; ‘Cloudy with a Chance of Love’ is another entertaining romantic comedy which I didn’t want to put down and just really enjoyed from start to finish! The book already had the great title (which also fits in really nicely with main character Daryl’s job as a weather presenter on the radio) and a lovely book cover, and the story inside is definitely one that matches, filled with a great sense of humour. Protagonist Daryl is really funny and down-to-earth and the kind of character I think many readers will be able to relate to in one way or another. I’m not yet in my forties, not a mum, and not out in the dating field, but I easily warmed to Daryl and just loved reading her story, focusing on rebuilding her life after her husband left her for her best friend a year ago, and seeing what happened to her.

Thanks to her friend Sam (who is one of several great secondary characters), Daryl finds herself in some entertaining situations, such as a speed dating evening and a cooking class for singles, and I really just couldn’t get enough of the book. Romantic comedies like this one are perfect to take on holiday with you for a read that will make it easy to forget about everyday-life for a few hours, but it’s a read I’d like to recommend to anyone looking for their next read; you won’t be disappointed. ‘Cloudy with a Chance of Love’ is another fantastic read by Fiona Collins; an entertaining, fun and light-hearted romantic read that will undoubtedly make you laugh, I loved it!

I received a free copy of this novel via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

This is a refreshingly different modern romance which will leave you feeling satisfied. It's different because Daryl is a 40-something divorcee, and she's nicely normal and together. She's about a year post-betrayal (by her husband and her best friend) and has just moved into her new house, next door to hunky Will. The novel covers a week in her life after she has thrown her wedding ring in the Trafalgar Square fountain. Her new best friend, Sam, does an online dating forecast for her and Daryl receives a prediction that she has a 90% chance of falling in love by Friday. But who will the lucky man be?

We follow Daryl as she re-enters the dating world and deals with the impending reunion with her exes (husband and best friend) at her daughter's graduation on the Friday night. Daryl is smart and sassy and has a very funny inner voice. Her problems are real, not over the top, just the sort of stuff that most women in her situation would have to face. The characters are realistic and easy to relate to. The character of Will didn't really ring true for me, though. In fact, when we first meet him I thought he was going to turn out to be gay. Not so, apparently.

This is an entertaining romance for grown up women who want to read about characters which could actually exist in real life. I enjoyed it and would happily read more of this author's work.

"Cloudy with a Chance of Love" is a light, delightful, easy summer read. The novel reads like a romantic comedy, taking place in the live changing week of Daryl, a middle aged woman whose divorce is finalized on Sunday and who falls in love by Friday (as the online psychic predicted).

The book is predictable and the characters are very typical, but it's such a lovely journey and a very satisfying progression and ending. The title of the book is perfect with Daryl's profession as the weather person for the radio. Her daughter is lovely and such a fun character. This is the ultimate beachy read for everyone who loves second chances, love and comedy. Daryl is all of us, and it's wonderful to watch her life unfold in a week.

Please note that I received this book from the publisher through netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

Cloudy with a Chance of Love is the first book I have sampled by Fiona Collins. And I can say it won't be the last.
The story of Daryl Williams had me in stitches from the beginning. I love to read a book about a heroine with a witty sense of humour and a pinch of hope for romance.
Although Daryl struggles with the "horrors" of today's dating scene, she has her cheering daughter, crazy mother and a best friend( who is still search for the one) all supporting her quest for a new love ( even the the love prediction is on Daryl's side for this week).
This book is fantastic summer read that warms your heart and makes you root for the heroine. The storyline is quick paced and well developed, and the characters are easily relatable. And the book cover is just gorgeous!

A big Thank you to NetGalley and Carina for the ARC for my honest review.

First time reading this author. I found this to be a fun read. Having just come thru a similar experience-my husband cheated..I wasn't sure if I would like the story. It made me laugh. Will and Daryl are fun to watch and read about. This is a pretty predictable book-but still fun. I think its a light hearted beach type book. Let me know what you think. Enjoy

I can truly say that this book had me laughing out loud. This book is a light-hearted read that will lift your spirits. I was in a book funk and found that this book was just what the doctor ordered.

Daryl is a woman that I can relate to. I found that this book was written about a good friend rather than a fictional character. Well done.

This is the first time that I have read a book by Fiona Collins.

What a wonderful, funny, romantic read. Being 40 and suddenly having to go on dates again sounds awful to me but Daryl gives it a go again. I loved the characters and was sad that the story ended, I wanted more. Really good writing by Fiona, if you are looking for a good old romance and something light to read then I would recommend you pick up Cloudy with a chance of love.

Thank you to Netgalley and Carina UK for the ARC.

breezy light chick lit that will catch you up and entertain you. You will sympathize with Daryl and root for her. As preposterous as it sounds, the driving force behind the plot- that she will find love in a week- makes this the perfect book for a hot afternoon, a day at the beach, or travel. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC- you will like this if you enjoy books about mature women dealing with romantic adversity and coming out ahead.

I loved this book, a woman betrayed by her husband is starting to rebuild her life and decides to try speed dating and singles cooking with mixed results. The characters in this book are well written and believable with Daryl's mum and Aunt, literally laugh out loud funny. I really recommend this book. It is poignant but heart warming.

Disappointingly predictable

I normally really enjoy this authors books but this one was not good. The story was completely predictable from the beginning. The characters were very cliche. It was a quick easy read but not an enjoyable one.

I wasn't sure if to give this book three of four stars (since it's somewhere in between for me), but ... There are not a lot of books (at least I haven't read them) about older women finding love and their second chance, having the courage and strength to put themselves out there emotionally again, so that was definitely a big plus in my book, to read about sth. like that.

One of the best things about this story is Daryl, I love the way she looks at life. This really drew me to her and made her such a likeable person. Daryl is upbeat about things even when life and people have treated her badly.

Daryl's next door neighbour Will is pretty perfect and I have to admit I had a bit of a crush on him myself! I loved the easy interactions Daryl and Will share but is he the one?

The story was so easy to get into and I was interested to see what had actually happened when Daryl's marriage broke down. It was intriguing to see if the fortune forecast would work especially with a timescale of a week. However the story moved along at a brisk pace but with enough detail to get a feel for the story. Throughout the week Daryl experiences lots of things and they were so much fun to read. The speed dating was especially entertaining with lots of shall we say interesting people taking part.

I enjoyed every chapter of this book, I read the last half of it in one go as I couldn't put it down. I'm so glad I picked this as my first book of 2017 it was such a great way to start the year!

Witty and entertaining with an uplifting story!

Five stars from me!

Another cracking comedy from Fiona Collins! I read and enjoyed A Year of Being Single, and her latest book, Cloudy With A Chance of Love, was equally funny and enjoyable.

Collins makes writing look easy, when actually, it isn't. Her chatty, warm style makes you fly through the book as if you're chatting to a friend, but actually all the ingredients are there: strong characters, good plotting, realistic, witty dialogue that pushes the action forward and a well constructed story arc.

You'll be rooting for lovable Darryl, just like I was.

I thoroughly enjoyed this and will definitely be buying Fiona's next one.

This was a slow starter, at first I wasn't in to this book at all, the characters were weak and the plot line didn't have much to it, other than being unrealistic. I continued with this book and was pleasantly surprised, I began to really like Daryl; the main protagonist. The speed of the storyline increased and I became really invested in the book. The ending was rushed and over very quickly in my opinion, I felt this could have been expanded, which would have given the reader more satisfaction. Overall an enjoyable light hearted read!

This is an okay/good 2.5 stars read really about starting over after a divorce and finding love again. A common enough theme in contemporary romances and it can be done badly or mediocre or really well. In this case, it's mediocre.
