I have now several of these info-graphics style books from specific subjects to general knowledge and I must admit this was probably the most disappointing of them all.

Now first of all I will declare that I am a huge fan of Star Wars (as no doubt reading some of my other related reviews will no doubt indicate) and I have some knowledge on the subject although I am no expert.

As a result when saw this book I was fascinated with this ideas someone had taken time out to collate all this information and create this book.

The problem I have is that it seems both very thin on the facts and in many cases rather frivolous. Now I will concede that some of the other infographic books are equally (or even more so) as frivolous (there a particular one about an actors moustache for example) but they are woven in with actual facts so you can accept there are a few tongue in cheek moments rather than out and out silliness.

Then there is the fact that the whole Star Wars universe is massive, form one only films to TV shows and not to mention the printed material and yet the pages felt sparse and under whelming - now the cynic in me says this is because there are other books to be released (and a quick search confirms this) but you would have thought that its better the overwhelm the reader with the sheer volume of information rather than leaving them thinking hmm okay learnt nothing new there

Okay so this feels like a damming review - its not I am just aware that they could have done so much more, however you have to respect them for their creativity and ingenuity and yes it was fun to read, I just feel that compared to others out there - it could have been so much more

Some of the infographics are really nice (especially the ones dedicated to costumes) but this is something to ingest in a long period of fragmented time, not all at once (so I have learned). But that's probably my fault instead of the authors, but I feel that it's necessary to say.

Honestly though: If you're looking for some quick facts from the Star Wars universe (up until Revenge of the Sith that is; there's no The Force Awakens in here), this is the book for you. If you're looking for the framework of the Millennium Falcon or the Cantina, THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU. If you want to know how many stormtroopers are on the Death Star*, then this book, it is for you.

Knock yourselves out, you nerds.

*There's 607,360 troops overall, 25,984 of which are stormtroopers. Just so you know.

I got this book as a gift from my wife. She had previously got me "The Star Wars Infographic Book" which was longer and better than this one. This particular copy seems to have been marketed to the UK. There are a handful of typos in the book, two of which were switching Episodes VI and IV and most if the rest were incomplete graphics on maps. Beyond that this book was a mix between creative infographaics, straightforward data, and timelines of the climax of each movie with a little bit of humor tossed in. For a graphic book the timelines had a little too much reading and felt a little belabored or forced. Still it was creative at times and enjoyable to look through and read for a fan.

September 2019;

I loved all the cataloged details in this book. It's bright, well laid out, and so informative. It was a delight to just get to flip through all the pages seeing the actual data of this universe stacked up against and with itself, all across the time periods and the first six movies.

I hope they do an updated version after movie nine is released.
