Being able to stand on your own two feet, sometimes requires getting knocked off them completely...

McKenzie “Kenzie” Lane is newly graduated from college and looking forward to a dream internship she has lined up for the summer in LA. Unfortunately, her controlling mother has other plans.

Colby Singer, with his hot-as-sin looks and wicked charm, is never without attention from the ladies. Despite suspecting how Kenzie feels about him, he’s always kept her comfortably off-limits since she’s the baby sister of one of his best friends. But when he’s determined to distract her temporarily from the stress of her mother’s ultimatum, deciding to show her some fun, he quickly finds that keeping her in the friend zone is not as easy as he’d hoped.

Once Kenzie realizes this may be her last opportunity to gauge her long-time crush’s true feelings, she puts it all out there in the form of a bet. It's the perfect idea for her perfect man.

Until he isn’t.

Will a dose of reality lead to true love? Or will it crash and burn before it can even get started?

***Bet Me Something is for mature audiences due to steamy bedroom scenes that are in no way contained to just the bedroom.***

A 22 yo virgin, who was pining for a manwhore since she was 6 is beyond pathetic...
No woman with self-respect would ever wait for a man, who f*cked more OWs she ever was acquainted with...
He was well known to be intimate with strippers in Vegas, many different ones. First, not every stripper has casual sex. Insinuating it is an insult toward these women.
He was walking talking std stick, and she got pregnant from him??? 🤢
Ridiculous. And here I thought I found a good series... 🙄

Love is a gamble.

I’m not a gambler. Never have and never will be. It’s just not a vice that I find appealing. I like my money in my pocket and I’m definitely not a risk taker. In Bet Me Something I think their biggest gamble was on whether by putting themselves out there, would the payoff be worth the risk. Is it worth putting your heart on the line? How long will you let the line dangle before you realise that the fish you were hoping to catch isn’t ready to be caught until you change the bait? Bet Me Something is the story of Kenzie and Colby.

Poor Kenzie has a mother you wouldn’t wish on your worst enemy. She’s nasty, bossy and very self-serving. At the beginning of the story, we find out that Kenzie has just graduated from College. Kenzie’s mother throws her a graduation party, that she’s not particularly enjoying then drops a bombshell on Kenzie. She had been on a full lacrosse scholarship in LA which is on the other side of the country from her family. She picked a college so far away for two reasons. One, to get away from her mother, and two, because her childhood crush, who's also her big brother’s friend, Colby lives in LA. Now that her college is finished up, she plans to stay in LA and keep studying, while also attempting to get a foot into the music industry which is her first love. The bombshell Kenzie’s mother dropped is that she’s not going to pay for her further studies in LA and that if she wants to keep studying, she’ll have to come home to do it. Feeling all hope is lost, she intends to spend the little time left she has left in LA trying to make Colby see her as more than “practically his sister”.

Colby has a past…a very, very busy past. He has been with a lot of women and has a reputation for it. His older brother and best friend don’t seem to take him entirely seriously even though he’d started and was succeeding with a movie production company. Kenzie has always been in his life and he has always felt protective of her, but lately it’s been harder and harder to put her in the “practically his sister” box. She’s a beautiful woman who is sassy and very sarcastic. Colby knows that family and friends will think he’s not good enough for Kenzie, so he’s not willing to see her as anything more. He might not be willing…but his body is certainly able to see her as more when Kenzie comes to stay with him for a little while.

Colby and Kenzie now have to take the gamble. Are they willing to sacrifice their friendship for a tumble? Will they be able to go back to the way it was if things don’t work out? Will the potential fights with family and friends be worth it? If only they could keep their clothes on around each other….

This was an extremely sexy and steamy story. Kenzie has little to no experience, while Colby has an overabundance of experience. I think in the end they both learnt something from the other.

I liked Bet Me Something even though I thought it was way, way too long. The weird part is that I liked all of it even though it was too long. The author has a way of writing that every word seems to have a purpose, a meaning and a need to be included. Maybe, some of the dramas didn’t need to be included. Or it could have been that the couple took too long to come together. I think the part that was drawn out too long was their need to keep their relationship a secret from family and friends. That never works and of course, there was a big hullabaloo when it all came out. Besides the length, my only other complaint was that I thought that Kenzie was a little too accepting. She lets her mother rule her life, her brother tells her what to do and worst of all lets people make decisions for her. By the end of the story we finally see her stand up for herself…but it was a long time coming. I also thought that Kenzie put up with way too much from Colby. He has a bad habit of not thinking before speaking and let some doozies fly and she always forgives him. I hated that by protecting himself, by hiding their relationship, every time he introduced Kenzie as his best friend's little sister, he was hurting her.

In the end, I enjoyed Bet Me Something. I loved Kenzie's rules for dating and her beliefs that she was worth more than dinner and a tumble. I hated seeing Colby vulnerable but loved it when he finally realises that the future is way more important than the past. This was the first story I’ve read by this author and I don’t think it will be the last. I had no problems following along even though it’s the third book in the series. Now that I know they are long stories, I can better prepare myself for the ride.

The two stars is for the writing which was mostly ok, but I just couldn't with the plot. It's the horrible trope of pining for brother's playboy best friend, added with controlling mother, and the really terrible -she's beautiful, athletic and smart but a virgin because no one else will ever do; her body and mind only want him. Meanwhile he's spent years screwing around to the point her brother is appalled she's with him. Even though her brother is another man whore (of course only their future mates are not promiscuous) Add in most of the book is them screwing after she 'gives' him her virginity and well frankly I got really bored with it. Really bored.

I also hate the - I don't care how many people you've screwed, cause I am cool that way, but I am also special because I have high standards like a five date rule unlike other girls you know. And yes no one ever met it. Never mind I only created it so I could use it as an excuse to reject guys. Even though you and I never dated it doesn't count for you. Her ridiculous date rules make her seem less mature than 22, along with the annoying giggling, and her frankly more annoying hot-cold persona. I am going be honest - I just didn't like her and I could care less if she got her HEA or not.

Finally her tricking him into taking her virginity was low I felt - but its hard to feel for a guy who keeps saying he can't do something then does nothing to resist. Colby quite frankly was pretty bland. And Kenze was trying too hard to be cool yet naive and sweet. I didn't care about either of them or any one in the book frankly. By this point there was a lot of skimming going on to see if it got better. No such luck.
Some people might like the romance - its low on angst, the characters are not unlikable but not exciting either. No big triggers I could see in the book/ Didn't do it for me.

Kenzie Lane, 22, has a long time crush on Colby Singer, 31,—next door neighbor boy with a panty dropping grin and baby face, the younger brother of her older brother’s friend and a reputation as a player.

“‘I’m not a big kisser. I normally prefer to get to the good stuff.’”

But Colby has completely friend zoned Kenzie. Or has he?

“‘Do you think you can accuse me of being testicularly challenged and expect that I wouldn’t react? You want alpha male, sweetheart, that’s what you’re getting.’”

Kenzie and Colby sported tons of fun banter, and they definitely have chemistry that I felt right away even when things for Kenzie didn’t go as anticipated ;-)

Colby is cute, (*gasp I used that word*) a lot of fun, and pretty laid back till Kenzie gets under his skin. I enjoyed the ways that she could ruffle his cool and confident demeanor. Though their experience levels were completely unequal and he makes quite a few dick moves, overall he’s still a likeable hero.

“‘I still want to whack-a-mole your pretty-boy face…’”

Kenzie surprised me by turning out to be a pretty strong and solid, mature heroine. When we first meet Kenzie in the opening scene being dictated upon by her mother I wasn’t sure how much I’d like her, but that was just one facet of Kenzie, like most people in real life, and the more I got to know the character and as the story progressed it was clear she most definitely was not weak, and she held her own well.

“‘You’re asking me what the second date entails while standing here naked in front of me?’”

This book is seriously hot! It’s one of those stories where their interactions are sizzling off the page long before they even have sex and then there are plenty of smutty encounters. I love romances that really capture the details—the kiss, the touch, the bases… I’ll leave the rest to your imagination, but rest assured this book does sexy well.

“‘I’m torn between wanting to fuck you senseless or kiss you breathless. Take your pick, Kenz, but I’m not going anywhere.’”

Told primarily by McKenzie’s first person point of view, there were certainly places where I craved Colby’s thoughts or wanted to get inside his head. Hmm, but then don’t most women when it comes to men? Anyways, this third book in the Something series is mainly an upbeat tale with new adult themes of figuring out life and love while finding yourself or the person you want to be. It can easily be read as standalone though the characters in the stories are connected as family and friends. Having read the two previous ones as well, I’m getting curious about a story for Mark in the future.

“My mother was my kryptonite. Literally draining my strength with her very presence and killing my decision making powers.”

McKenzie Lane is home in Virginia having just graduated college attending the graduation party that she didn’t want thrown by her overbearing, controlling, steamrolling mother. Her post-graduation plan is to stay in LA to pursue a career in music, continue her studies with a music-related degree, and she is very much looking forward to the internship opportunity of a lifetime that she has beat one thousand other applicants for with a well-known recording industry producer. Not to mention that LA also appeals to her because it’s far away from her mother, and well, it’s also where Colby Singer, her longtime friend and crush, lives. Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear that her mother is on board with her plans, as she drops a bomb on McKenzie that has the potential to totally upend her life.

“In taking him down off the pedestal I’d put him on many years ago, I oddly feel relieved.”

Colby Singer is a very successful movie industry producer, long-time friend of McKenzie and her brother, Brian. Colby is also a notorious for being a man-whoring, playboy. Or is he? McKenzie is a close friend, and it seems that he’s always right there for her, ready and willing to step in and save the day. Following a horrible accident, McKenzie is convalescing at Colby’s and a bet between them is what gets the tide turning from friends to lovers. For McKenzie, the payoff was supposed to be the culmination of many a childhood fantasy, only it doesn’t quite go as she had hoped or expected that it would.

“You aren’t a little girl with an infatuation anymore. You’re a woman with an attraction to a man who happens to be imperfect, just like the rest of us.”

Close quarters, an abundance of time spent together and a simmering attraction between them both all collide and send them hurtling down the relationship rabbit hole. The change from friends only to lovers between these two relationship rookies is definitely a work in progress, but they’re off to a great start slowly building upon a years-old, solid foundation of friendship. Their biggest concern is the dreaded reaction that a relationship between the two of them will garner from her older brother, Brian, and Colby’s older brother, Josh, given Colby’s reputation.

My voice broke. “We can work through this, but walking away right now would be a mistake.”
He swallowed hard, emotion clogging his voice. “The biggest one of my life. ...”

Weeks go by and they grow closer and fall into a comfortable routine, both inevitably falling harder and deeper in love with the other. But McKenzie is growing weary of the secret-keeping, while Colby is concerned about timing the relationship reveal properly. A slip up on a group engagement trip to Vegas solves that problem for them, though, and Colby’s worst fears are realized. Will Brian and Josh see him for the man he is now or will they be unable to see past the man he once was? Can Colby ever get past the embarrassment of his youthful indiscretions and allow himself to believe he’s worthy of McKenzie’s love or will he make the biggest mistake of his life by letting that guilt and shame over his past eclipse his future?

“…Colby has to get beyond his insecurities over his past, or it’ll never work. If he loved me enough, he’d be unapologetic about it, no matter what you thought. Although asking him be secure when I’m not isn’t exactly fair.”

Bet Me Something is the third book in Bondurant’s Something series, and I have loved each one. Bondurant bills her writing style as Adult Contemporary Erotic Romantic Comedy—or smutty chick lit—and those descriptions describe her work perfectly. She blends comedy and conflict effortlessly in this book, intertwining it amongst a very sexy romance. I can say unequivocally that the first kiss scene between McKenzie and Colby is in my top five favorite first kisses of all time – it was brilliant!! It’s those little surprise plot twists and turns that Bondurant casually tosses in to her stories that keep readers on their toes and turning the pages. As a fan of all of her works, I can say that I happily go into one of her books not knowing what to expect but confident that I’ll get exactly what I want.

“This right here is my center. The outside world tries to tilt us, or I accidentally do it, and being together puts us back where we need to be.”

Bondurant’s writing is on point, her characters are endearing and her creativity in spinning a friendship into a passionate love story is remarkable. Aubrey Bondurant is an author whose name should be on every romantic comedy fan’s TBR. I’m already anxiously awaiting the next book in this series, and I’m looking forward even to what will follow that. I absolutely adored Bet Me Something, and it gets 5 smooches from me.

“…losing a bet to you has always turned out to be the very best thing to happen to me.”

Review by Lisa Kane

I think Bet Me Something is my favorite read of the Something series. Considering I have been gobbling these books up like my husband scarfs down my homemade stuffing at Thanksgiving that's saying something!

Colby Singer is Josh's younger brother (he was the main character in Book #1 Tell Me Something. Kenzie Lane is Brian's little sister from book#2 Ask Me Something. Kenzie has had a huge crush on Colby for years; going so far as to moving to Cali for college since she knew he was there too.

I saw the object of my thoughts since age six, when I'd discovered how "dreamy" the next-door-neighbor boy was: Colby Singer.

But Colby is a player, and so far he has friend zoned her. He's even gone as far as "little sister of my good friend" zoned her. But that is all about to change.

Trying to get away from her controlling mom, Kenzie agrees to a weekend in Vegas with Colby. But this is Vegas and anything goes right? Colby is on his best behavior, in spite of Kenzie's best laid (pardon the pun) plans. But once they return to Cali it looks like she may be wasting her time. But an injury brings out the protective Alpha in Colby and and he will go to any length to take care of her. But Kenzie is more interested in Colby taking care of business.

Colby has his reasons for not crossing boundaries with Kenzie. First off he is years older than her, secondly his brother Josh would have a shit fit over this, and thirdly he knows he has a reputation as a player. He worked hard for that reputation (again pun intended). Kenzie's brother Brian would never want Kenzie to be with someone like him. Most important, Colby believe that he isn't good enough for her. She deserves someone much better than him. But Kenzie won't put up with his back pedaling.

"My vagina is not a confessional, Colby Singer, so if you're having second thoughts, then get the fuck off me."

But the heart wants what the heart wants and Kenzie is determined that she belongs to Colby. While I was frustrated with her and was afraid she would become like a doormat, she surprised me. She knows who she is and just what she deserves and she won't settle for less.

In taking him down off the pedestal I'd put him on many years ago, I oddly felt relieved.

I loved this story. Of course all of the characters from the first two books are in this one. I'm more than ready to read Bk#4-bring on Catherine's story!

"Maybe it was seeing you in your lacrosse shorts and that sexy mouth guard in your last lacrosse game that started me realizing I might have other thoughts about you. You were so cute."

"4,25" stars for Kenzie & Colby from me!!

" Wanna bet??"

What a delightful and beautiful story, Bet Me Something is third installment in the Something series and can be read as a standalone. Kenzie's life is an emotional cage she can't make choices without the approving nod of her "Dracula" of a mother and her feelings towards the bad boy, womanizer Colby are not answered back.

But our heroine though is determined to do anything it takes to succeeds her goals and to make her dreams come true from a girl who doesn't make a step without her mother telling her she becomes a very different/independent person in the end. Colby on the other hand is nothing you expect him to be he is a frame showing what he wants to show the world meaning not everything is true, and he is quite ethical towards Kenzie who feels like she is his little sister for a bad boy that says it all. He brings the fun and the adventure in her world and oh boy she teases him a lot...even i couldn't understand how he managed to stay calm with her by his side (well if i count many reasons are keeping him apart from her). But life and good fortune will bring them together either they want it or not.

Furthermore the story was very enjoyable with steady pace and fun dialogues, both our character had great chemistry together. Definitely recommend it, i hope you enjoy it as much as i did.

Holy schmexiness! this book was hot. Bet Me Something is my second time reading Ms. Bondurant’s work and it was a great experience.

Kenzie is a 22-year-old graduate whose family (her mother especially) are pushing her to move back home and get a degree in business. She was very happy in LA where she lived for the last 4 years and had no intention of going into business, hoping to be able to focus on her music passion instead.

At first, I had a bit of trouble liking McKenzie, as she was a bit of a doormat to her mother’s wishes. I understand her mom’s bulldozing personality wasn’t easy to deal with but she almost didn’t even talk back when she learned she had already been enrolled in a school without her knowing. Then we had the whole I’ve-crushed-on-my-neighbor-who’s-my-brother’s-best-friend-for-ever thing. In the beginning, when she’s repeatedly turned down, I felt it bordered on, if not pathetic, a wee bit desperate. Fortunately, her easygoing personality, her candidness and dry wit, and her character growth throughout the book made me not only enjoy the story but really like her.

Colbie, 9 years Kenzie’s senior, although knowing about her girlish infatuation has always enjoyed her company. Unfortunately, now that they’re alone in Vegas for the weekend, he can’t pretend she’s still a little girl. Even when he spends 150% of their time together saying she is “his best friend’s little sister”.

Colbie runs a movie production company in the family company conglomerate. Having had a bit of a wild past, everyone sees him as the playing manwhore and for the most part, he’s not taken too seriously. Kenzie, on the verge of life changing decisions, throws a Hail Mary pass and sets on seducing Colbie at all costs. Well, both of them will be floored by the unexpected outcome of her maneuver.

Colbie was a great character. Although he had some issues to overcome, and he drops the emotional ball on more than one occasion, he eventually becomes a fantastic leading man. I actually loved him from the beginning, but when he let everyone’s assumptions about him roadblock his future he really pissed me off.

I really liked how the author showed us actual character growth during the whole story and how both mc’s had to mature in order to have a relationship and how once they decided that’s what they wanted, they set on being ready to really do it.

There was humor, romance, sexy times and even a bit of kink. Bet Me Something was actually pretty hot and an excellent story I greatly enjoyed reading.

“Sorry for throwing my shoe at you”

He laughed. “Don’t take offense, but I kind of like it when you’re feisty. Your potential violent streak turns me on.”

I rolled my eyes. “You’re disturbed.”

“You don’t even know the half of it because the fantasy reel in my head goes on with tying you to the bed and calming your temper with my tongue until all the fight is out of you.”

My body tingled with anticipation. “I take it back; we’re both disturbed because now I want that more than anything.”

While the epilogue was super sweet and I loved it, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of déjà vu. I’m pretty sure I read something similar somewhere else… but you know what? I was so happy with it I didn’t really care.

The Something Series is addicting and the latest release Bet Me Something only goes to prove that once again.

Kenzie has been lucky, she's always had her older brother, his best friend, and his best friend's brothers looking out for her. Only downside, they all considered her their little sister, and yet she'd been in love with Colby since she was a little kid. He was off-limits so she settled for the next best thing, being his friend. She kept all her other feeling for him locked away. That is until she has the opportunity to get what she's always wanted...all she has to do is win a bet.

Colby has always thought of Kenzie as a little sister and best friend, but somewhere along the way those feelings became a lot less little sister and a little more scary. She was off-limits, her brother would kill him, hell his brothers would kill him too, but when she wins a bet that will make the lines between them a lot more gray he'll have to decide if she's worth facing their murderous brothers.

They each have reasons to be scared, but sometimes love is worth risking it all.

The chemistry between Kenzie and Colby was refreshing and fun with a side of hot. The pages are filled with humor, friendships, and family. The friendships and family ties will be pushed and tested, but they're no contest for stubborn hearts. The part I enjoyed most is that no matter how serious the situation when a little humor is added in it not only lightens the mood, but it warms the heart.

"Nothing happened between us last night, Kenz. I held your hair when you puked and put you to bed. Your brother Brian would've done the same."

"Really? Because I don't thing he would've climbed into bed with me, stripped down to his boxers, to spend the night."

A vein on the side of Colby's face throbbed. "Nothing happened," he reiterated.

I grinned. "Well, I'd be greatly disappointed if something had, and I woke up without being the least bit sore."

My Favorite Laughable Moment: When Kenzie finally gets to collect on the bet she'd won only to realize her imagination was way better than the real thing. What's even funnier is Colby's reaction to her response.

I can honestly say I've never read a moment like that. Props to Aubrey Bondurant for veering left when I bet everyone assumed she'd go right.

McKenzie Lane is fresh out of college and excited about her upcoming summer internship in LA with plans for grad school at UCLA to follow. Unfortunately, her mother has other plans for her and McKenzie has never been able to stand up to her mother.
Colby Singer, partner at Gamble Enterprises and best friend to Kenzie's brother Brian, has been the object of Kenzie's crush for 16 years. He's been pretty sure of how she felt about him but she's Brian's little sister and besides, she deserves better.
When Kenzie's mom lays down her plans for Kenzie, Colby decides to take her mind off her worries and whisk her away for some fun distractions in Vegas.
Kenzie knows this is her last chance to see if Colby feels anything for her so she decides to put it all on the line with a bet. Where better to gamble than in Vegas? After all, if there is no risk, there is no reward.

I loved watching this relationship progress. The fact that Colby and Kenzie were friends first and at ease with each other made it all the more delightful. Some parts of this story were pure hysterical. the "first kiss" and Kenzie's trip to the Pleasure Palace were among my favorites. Other parts were more poignant. I could identify with Kenzie's struggle to juggle her wants with those of her family. Always afraid of her mother's reactions. I think she finally got the nerve to stand up to her mother when it was something that really mattered to her- her future and Colby. Colby was a beautifully flawed character. Even though he was oh so sexy and cocky, he felt unworthy of someone like Kenzie because of his "player" past. He had to trust that his past didn't matter to Kenzie. He needed to get past the shame over what he couldn't change and believe that he deserved happiness. Together they discovered that they loved each other- flaws and all.
This is the 3rd book in Aubrey Bondurant's Something series. This series gets better and better. The dialogue is real, witty, and sexy and you can't help but get pulled into the story. The Something series if filled with funny moments, steamy moments, moments that melt your heart, and tender moments. If you are ready for a guilty pleasure trip, this series is for you. 5 Star Review
This is book 3 in the Something series and its the best one so far, (I really hope we get more in this series).
Kenzie is sassy, sexy and funny and I love her to bits.
Colby is a guy who at times you want to whack some sense into but at other times you just want to love him.
This book is all about not being perfect and sometimes having to work for what we want and what we deserve. Its about learning to stand up for what you want. Its a story that had me hooked from page one and I could not put it down until I read the last page. This is a beautifully story with lots of hot make up sex. The author has given us characters that prove you don't have to be perfect and that made them feel real.
This can be read as a standalone but I do feel you would get more out of it if you have read the previous 2 books.
Can't wait for more from Aubrey Bondurant

DID NOT FINISH IT @11%
The first in the series was a 2 stars but decided to give the author a 2nd chance because I already had the third book in my kindle. Opening chapter was a disaster with the interaction of fmc, a 22 years old graduate, completely dependent on her parents, not making a single move to confront her mother or trying to find a job to be able to take care of herself and do whatever she pleases and go to any school she wanted. Sorry to say, but when you don’t have your own money and others are paying your way through life, unfortunately, they have a right to their opinion in how you are spending their money because they also have the right to not want spending their money in all your wants. If you’re not happy about it, then you know what to do.
That’s the impression heroine left in me in 1st chapter
Then, the infamous trip to Vegas where hero took her to get way from her fundings aka parents so she could relax and unwind and make decisions later. That chapter was so stupid. She demanded to be taken to a strip club with hero, they went to vip area, asked the 2 strippers to give her pole dance and strip lessons all in front of hero. And this, before the author made sure how prim and proper and also a virgin she is. Not forgetting how she had a crush on hero since she was 6 years old and in this 11% I read she repeated a thousand times what could she do to seduce hero. Add to that all the alcohol drinking, the getting drunk,throwing up while mmc held her hair up but not before she asked mmc to kiss her.
No way I would continue with this.
And the worst, it’s also only fmc pov, what again I felt like I was mislead from blurb. As the 1st one it looked like it was going to be dual. Disappointed. I would not be able to tolerate being only in the fmc for the whole book if I was to read it

Bet me something by Audrey Bondurant a fabulous four-star read. This is the third book in the Something series, but each book is a stand-alone full read, there are mature scenes so it’s not suitable for younger readers. Although each book is stand-alone, and they do read well as individuals together they make a great series, strengthening on each read as we get to know everyone better. This is the story of McKenzie and Colby and this is their time to shine and tell us their story, a story showing us different types of love. This story will keep you reading from page to page, the characters are great, and things happen that you don’t expect and you will be reading even harder after that to see if they get their happily ever after. This story is great, it started and I liked McKenzie Lane when the book started but I didn’t love her, but then as she started to grow in the book, becoming someone I loved, watching hr on her journey of discovery and watching as her eyes were opened and she became someone you would want to spend time with was great. It made the story from good to great.
If you want a great story then this is the one for you, if you read the series I am sure you would agree they just get better and better.

This was my first story by Aubrey Bondurant and I really liked it. I was nervous going in because I had no idea what I was getting myself into but I truly enjoyed the story. There were multiple times that I literally burst out laughing and a few times that I was crying along with the story. Colby was your typically bad boy who was a womanizer but once he met the right one, he was ready to commit. I loved how brave Kenzie becomes. She really grows into herself throughout the story. Definitely a great read. In gonna have to go back and read the others in the series.

This was a cute friends to lovers read. Kenzie has had a crush on Colby since she could remember. Kenzie gets into an accident and Colby is there to help her while she recovers & the tension grows from there. I loved to sassiness Kenzie had! The sexual tension between these two was 🌶️

Bet Me Something

This was my first read by this author, but I don't think it will be my last. I really enjoyed Kenzie and Colby's story. It was hilarious and full of chemistry. Seeing them navigate from life long friends to more was super sweet. The hilariously awkward moments that sprinkled in after were fabulous! Now, I want to go back and read the first 2 books about the other couples!

I absolutely loved this book. When I saw how long I was worried it was going to drag or have boring parts but I was wrong. I didn't want to put it down at all! I can't wait to read the stories of the other characters, but think Kenzie and Colby will be my favorite.

Yep, I know I was a fan of Aubrey Bondurant before this book but after Bet Me Something she has well and truly cemented her place as one of my favorite author’s. Her combination of great characters, great writing, romance, insanely sexy moments and angst draws me into her stories and doesn’t let me forget them in a hurry.

Kenzie has had a crush on her life-long neighbour and friend of her older brother since she was little. There was always something about Colby that drew her in and as much as she didn’t want, the man that she compared every other too. It was this crush that led her away from home for college. But on the worst night of her life – the one where she finds out that her mother has overruled her plans, Colby comes to the rescue and whisks her away from a weekend of fun.

As much as she had fantasised about Colby finally noticing her and taking the leap of faith into a relationship with her, what she didn’t expect was the effect that she would have on him.
Colby knows that Kenzie is the forbidden fruit that he cannot take a bite of without serious consequences. Her older brother knows all about his reputation with women and would not be pleased if he took advantage of Kenzie…but one fun weekend away threatens to snap his control.

Kenzie decides that she needs to take control by proposing a simple bet. The prize? A kiss from the man that she has lusted over for years. But nothing is quite that simple. Can the notorious playboy finally be tamed by someone that has been right under his nose the whole time?

Aubrey Bondurant has well and truly hit her stride with this book. I loved the previous books in this series, but the way that this book flowed so easily, the great witty dialogue between the two characters was so effortless and the character development really sucked me in.

Kenzie and Colby are everything that you look for in main characters in a romance story. A sassy, sexy and quick witted female and a reformed male that is pure alpha but has a soft spot for those he cares about. Throw in moments of vulnerability, taking charge and pure heartedness and the combination is irresistible.

I LOVED, LOVED the tension and angst in this story. You know, the whole should I/shouldn’t I risk all my relationships for the chance at real happiness. Never once did I think that Aubrey was dragging this out for the sake of drama. Every roadblock, obstacle and tension filled moment complimented the story and made me feel the frustration, tension and the nuclear explosions.
This heat in this book was off the charts. The build up of anticipation and the eventual coming together was hot as hell. The chemistry was electric and this really bled through into sexual interactions between this pair.

What Aubrey does really well is bring the other characters into the story so that you can get a glimpse of how their lives are tracking after their happily ever after. I really, really can’t wait for Will’s story. His presence in each and every story has grown my intrigue surrounding him and the woman that will eventually capture this all-round good bloke. His breath of fresh air and reason always shines through.

If you are a fan of romance that has a great storyline, tension by the bucketloads, forbidden romance, plenty of steam to satisfy all put together with great writing that is engaging, then Bet Me Something is for you. And while this book is part of a series, you can read it as a standalone but I think you should meet the others. Aubrey Bondurant has cemented her place in my must read list and I can't wait for more.

5 Crowns

Book 3 in the brilliant Something series. This book can be read as a standalone as each book follows a new couple, however I recommend you read them all in order. This is a great series with great characters and this book will contain spoilers if you decide afterwards that you want to read them all; and believe me you will.

Kenzie Lane has been in love with the boy next door since she was 6 years old. He may be 10 years her senior, he is most definitely a player and unfortunately for her she has always been the little sister of his friend, so forever placed firmly in the friend zone. But Kenzie remains hopeful that one day he will notice her for the woman she has become; even moving to California to place herself directly in his radar. Alas the radar continues to be on the blink, until a little bet leads to something more.

Colby Singer has always been proud of his playboy reputation. He is also proud of his career and although close to his older brother has always felt the need for his approval. Kenzie Lane is like the little sister he never had. Okay, so she may have a slight crush on him, but he has maintained a platonic friendship with her and has been careful to never cross any lines to encourage it. So when she needs cheering up following a blow-up with her mother, Colby rushes in and takes her to the one place that can cheer her up… Vegas. Little does he know how the best laid plans can suddenly go very wrong.

1 bet, 2 people and a simple kiss. Will Kenzie finally open Colby’s eyes? Or will Colby fall of the pedestal she has long placed him on?

I absolutely love this series and am not too proud to say I may have badgered Aubrey to get myself an ARC of Bet Me Something. Having read the previous 2 books back to back, I suddenly found myself anxiously waiting for Kenzie and Colby’s book. So I began channelling positive thoughts of speedy writing to the author. Then bam, suddenly it’s here. Eek, will it meet my expectations?

I love all of characters that Aubrey has pulled together in these books, but I have to say both Colby and Kenzie were characters that I really had a soft spot for. I loved these 2 in the previous books - the unrequited love versus the playboy. So understandably I then began to worry that when I finally got the story that it would lack in some way and not be how I so needed it to be.

Bravo Ms Bondurant, you pulled it out of the bloody bag with this story. It is abso-bloody-lutly perfect.

I don’t want to give any spoilers, but don’t expect it to be plain sailing for these two. If you think that Kenzie will be a pushover, think again. She is tough as boots and although madly in lust with Colby, she suddenly has her eyes opened to the fact that he isn’t as perfect and dreamy as she (or he himself) thinks. As for Colby, well he certainly has his work cut out with the vivacious Kenzi. Suddenly the girl he has always friend zoned becomes the ultimate challenge, and his hard earned reputation of player extraordinaire isn’t something he is proud of anymore.

A book full of love, friendship, sex and belly laughs. This is my favourite of the 3 books and that is saying something given how much I loved the previous 2. Aubrey describes her books as “smutty chick-lit” and I think that is bang on. The characters are engaging and the storylines fun. If you are looking for your perfect holiday read then look no further.

Meanwhile as I close my laptop, I do so channelling Aubrey those speedy writing positive thoughts again. I need Catherine’s book and I need it now.

McKenzie Lane has had a serious crush on Colby Singer for the majority of her twenty-two years. And for every single one of those years, he has treated her just like his kid sister.

And now on top of all that, her parents are demanding that she give up on her dreams and return home to attend a prestigious Ivy League university. She’s at a crossroads and doesn’t know where to turn.

Shockingly, it’s Colby who steps in and suggests that they spend the weekend in Vegas at one of his hotels to just relax and there she can contemplate her future.

And with one simple bet, they get more than they ever asked for.

He shrugged, obviously not ready to answer the question. “When are we doing ours for the bet?”
Shock didn’t even begin to describe my reaction. “Uh, I got the impression you didn’t want to. And since I’m quickly finding out the only thing worse than having to bet someone into kissing you is confirmation they don’t want to, you’re totally off the hook.”
He shook his head. “No, a bet’s a bet, but you aren’t going to act weird about it after, are you?”
“I’m already weird, but no, I’m reasonably confident there’s life after kissing Colby Singer— life which doesn’t involve dotting your last name with a little heart and planning a wedding.”

Colby has tried to keep Kenzie at arms length and it’s getting harder and harder. After an impromptu weekend in Vegas, it’s downright impossible.

She’s far more beautiful than he ever imagined. But Kenzie is far too good for him. His past has forever marked his soul and he’s not going to let that touch her – ever.

Even if it means walking away from the love of the one girl that could save him.

“That’s bullshit. You may not be willing to admit it now, but I know you’re in love with me. And it’s not about you not having the capacity to give me more, it’s about you not trying because of what you heard back there.” My voice broke. “We can work through this, but walking away right now would be a mistake.”
He swallowed hard, emotion clogging his voice. “The biggest one of my life. I’m sorry.” He kissed my forehead and left out the door without a glance back.

Aubrey Bondurant never fails to amaze and Bet Me Something is no exception! Not only was the chemistry between Kenzie and Colby molten hot – she laced the story with a kind of sweet pain that can only come from truly finding out who you are and sacrificing everything for it.

She even gives us a glimpse at the future of all of the characters in the series and it made for one really enjoyable read. And the ending?

It was everything a true lover of romance could ever ask for…

McKenzie "Kenzie" Lane has her own version of Kryptonite. She is not able to stand up to her mother because of being petrified of letting her down. But when Kenzie's mother goes one step to far, by taking Kenzie out of school in California and forcing Kenzie to move back home, something breaks. Kenzie is no longer willing to let everything in her life just go by. Now she is going to try and fight for what she wants. And first up on the list is Colby Singer. Her long time crush, and Mr. Perfect. Or is he?

Colby Singer has been watching out for his best friends little sister for as long as he can remember. And even more so when Kenz moved to California. But now that Kenz is canceling their weekly meet ups, and may be forced to leave him Colby is beginning to see her in a whole new light. What starts as an innocent bet may tear apart their close friendship or lead them down a great path. But first step for Colby is to continuously refer to Kenz as his "sister" so that he will never go for her sexually. But will that really work? Or will Kenz's bet be able to put them on to a new way of life.

So I am going to be honest in the beginning I really did not like Kenz because she seemed extremely spineless. But after a few chapters Kenz really develops into a great character who goes after what she wants. And Colby really did try to do the right thing. And he definitely did. After all who wants to be in possession of a PDG (Panty Dropping Grin) but yet be a horrendous kisser.

The romance between these two was exceptional but what made this book get a 5 star rating was the connections between Kenzie, Colby and their friends/family. Those connection made the novel so much more enjoyable in my opinion. Especially with how far they are willing to go to make each other happy.

There is quite a bit of sexual content but the romance between these two characters was amazing so the sex ended up on the sidelines.
I would definitely recommend this book.

~~~~~~~~~~Dee's ★★★★★ Review~~~~~~~~~~~
Kenzie is a beautiful, smart-mouthed, college graduate challenged by two weaknesses: singing in front of an audience and standing up to her mother. Colby is her brother's best friend and one she has secretly crushed on since a little girl. Colby has a nasty reputation as a man whore and party animal, one who avoids responsibilities and commitments. He drove me nuts when Kenzie tried to seduce him on multiple occasions and he would always back away, referring to her as his best friend's baby sister. Because he was ashamed of his past, he felt unworthy of someone as pure and sweet as Kenzie. Plus, he cringed at what his brother and her brother would do if they found out he had an interest in her more than just being a friend. Obviously, Kenzie & Colby needed to be together but it took forever for them to even take the first step to get closer. Written mostly in Kenzie's point of view, we see and feel her longing, frustration and hopes for Colby to see her as a grown woman and not just a little girl. Their journey to love is filled with potholes, challenges from past decisions, regret, fears and complicated with personal weaknesses. The ups and downs, the progress and the setbacks, the laughter and the tears will entertain a lover of romantic stories with lovable hero & heroine, victory over crippled hearts and passionate scenes so hot to set the pages aflame. Excellent story and well written.
Review of Bet Me Something (Something #3) by Aubrey Bondurant
Review done for Hooked on Books & CherryOBlossoms Promotions
5 out of 5 stars
Kenzie Lane is desperate to be in charge of her own life for once. Her controlling mother has her future planned out for her. Kenzie loved living in LA and going to school but now her mother wants her to get her business degree at a college at home.
Kenzie has had enough though; she is determined to follow her own dreams as soon as she figures out what they are.
After her uneventful graduation party, her longtime crush whisks her away to Vegas for the weekend. Colby Singer is everyone woman’s dream. Too bad he only sees Kenzie as her brother’s younger sister.
That all changes when a series of bets brings Kenzie and Colby closer together. Each one pushes the boundaries of their relationship.
Just when things look like everything is perfect for them, their friends and family state their disappointment. None of them approve of Colby’s past but Kenzie doesn’t care. She is going to prove to them all that Colby is the man for her.
I loved this book. It flowed perfectly and I loved how Kenzie and Colby grew together. They both had to work through many personal issues and then together through their relationship issues. Their chemistry is off the charts.
I definitely recommend this book to read and I will definitely go back and read the first two in this series!
Aubrey Bondurant has done it again, she's presented a book that's kept me turning pages, loving more and more, every page, hoping, expecting, and getting, the perfect story.
Bet Me Something is Book Three in the Something Series, following Ask Me Something Book 2 and Tell Me Something Book 1. I've read them all, loved them all and hope she continues to write them, because she's doing a fabulous job.
Kenzie Lane is looking forward to her internship in California. Her mother has different plans and throws her life into a tailspin. Kenzie thinks there's more going on but can't put her finger on it. Kenzie is forced to make decisions and stand up for herself on more than one occasion and with more than one person. When an unexpected emergency throws a huge wrench into her life, an unexpected person steps forward to take care of her.
Kenzie places bets with this person on more than one occasion to get him to loosen up, to hopefully get him to see that they can be more than friends and to see how good they are together. Hot and spicy is how things can be with them together. The family dynamics are important to both of them. Ooohhh the trials in this one. Come and see how much Aubrey has done for these fabulous characters to make sure, something turns into everything.
I was provided an ARC for an honest review. Thank you Aubrey Bondurant for the honor.
