Still under the wing of DI Martin, he realises his superior ranking officer plays to win and will stop at nothing to avenge his own personal vendetta.Dancers is a novella and sequel to the first book in the East End Noir Series, The Towers.
I don’t read a lot of novellas but this one was definitely more action-packed than the ones that I have read. I read The Towers earlier today and couldn’t wait to continue the story of Matthew and Mark. What stood out to me here was how well the storyline worked as a novella. It wasn’t rushed and everything moved at just the right pace, and the character development didn’t suffer because of the shorter word count.
It is a story of revenge and of Matthew starting his new career as a policeman. I did want more information on his mother and younger brother and also his girlfriend but the story focus was mainly on the revenge from somebody he was responsible for putting behind bars in The Towers. Once again Natalie Hames has written an intense and gritty tale, there are numerous uncomfortable scenes to be read here but none that I could take my eyes away from. It’s a dark read and just the type of book that I love to read in this genre.
Events in this book showed Matthew’s mentor to have a bit of a different side to him and it will be interesting to see how Matthew moves forward in the future with his career. This was another great read to kick off 2018 and as with The Towers comes highly recommended by me, however make sure you do read The Towers first because I feel reading this alone would lessen some of the reading impact that it has through already knowing the characters involved.
A great follow on to book one. We get to see how Matthew gets on in his new role as a policeman. Was it all worth It? Will he and brother Mark ever reconcile?
Fast paced and gripping. Love how it all developed and now want to read the next book. Certainly to be recommended
Very enjoyable; a shorter and crisper novel than the first but equally good. With bent cops, double-crossing grasses and some seriously evil, neo-nazi thugs stalking the streets of London, the suspense kept me turning the pages, right until the end.
Throughly enjoy this read. Only thing is thought it should have been longer, more could have been added. Love the characters recommend reading just wish it was longer.
Natalie Hames Dancer Book 2 in the series. Following on from book 1 this book follows the Connolly family on there new lives. Mrs Connolly and Sam have been relocated to a new more respectable area. Mark is in Sheffield with Cheryl and Mathew is now a policeman. This is a great second book. 5* 10 February 2017.
Read this in one go... My goodness, what a fast pacy book. Following on from the Towers it is a brilliant insight into possibilities of off record policing, tit for tat punishment and ongoing street gangs. Can't wait to read next book. Gritty and violent. Whatever next?
