So begins the journey of a 3,000 year old vampire who has learned there is no such thing as redemption, and a young dhampir who has never learned to die.
I was really enjoying this book. Slow burn, enemies to lovers tropes. But it became too much after a while. This book is extremely long, and it is not a standalone book. The povs alternate between hero and heroine, and sometimes I was sure who's perspective it was. The timeline spans over centuries, and sometimes, I'd have to backtrack to see what year it was.
The progress in the couples relationship is as slow as a glacier. In the end, they still constantly misread and misjudge each other. They both claim to themselves, to be in love with the other, but I'm no longer sure is a romance with a hea or hfn. I'm going to skim the next book or just read the end first.
The author is very talented, and I wondered at first why this book wasn't more well-known. It got so tedious after a while though.
the build up lit my soul on fire. the descriptions and the writing is beautifully detailed and is nothing compared to that wattpad shite. I read a few reviews saying it was too slow but we're so used to romance pieces rushing characters connection. the dual pov is brilliantly written - admittedly I would have preferred if more was written about each characters love for eachother. I totally expected them to have a juicy moment right at the end but I was seriously longing for them to just go at it! this is an amazing read I can't recommend it enough.
I ran across the suggestion for this book on Facebook; and I'm very glad I did. It's a fabulous read, and I'm looking forward to starting the next one tomorrow!
