Gamon Sakurai is a Japanese comic book artist from Tokyo. Born in 1986, Sakurai was selected for the Afternoon Magazine Four Seasons Award for New Comic Artists. Upon being selected for the award his short story was published and he was selected for editorial review by manga publishing giant Kodansha. Sakurai would make his publishing debut with indie publisher Issuisha in 2010, releasing a short story anthology. He would then work with Kodansha to work on his first feature length series AJIN: Demi-human in 2012.
This volume brings the tower assault arc to a thrilling conclusion, packed with intense action from start to finish.
However, I couldn't help but notice that Ajin has gradually lost the eerie, horror-infused atmosphere that made its earlier chapters so captivating. For me, that's a bit of a drawback.
That said, it's still an enjoyable and engaging read overall.
4* for the beginning, 3* in the middle, and just 1* for the ending.
So Nagai Kei was one step behind the old experienced veteran Satou. So the entrapment didn't go exactly like it was planned. So a lot of people died that day. So he failed. That's bad, but I would really dissapointed in him if the result of one battle made him chicken out and discouraging him to fight the war.
So ends the second arc. I think I stopped breathing at one point. No one is safe in this series it seems. This series is now SO different than the anime that I am in love with it.
. . . Btw Hirasawa 🥺❤️
During an intense gunfight, a person of black clothes lose his life. The black clothes which were left and became three people succeed to have time and put Sato to sleep by an anesthetic gun.

Pero qué final: "Comienza una nueva vida... Aunque no sé si podría llamarla vida. Posiblemente no vuelva a ver a nadie. Ah, sí.. Debería llamar a mi mamá por última vez."
File 39: Kei and Nakano are fighting against the guards but are able to press on. Separately Izumi is fighting Tanaka (and their ghosts) but she ends up handcuffed to the stairwell (and police believe her to be with Sato).
File 40: Sato has a gunfight in a swimming pool area on one of the floors in the tower with Hirasawa and other black suits. Sato manages to kill 2 of the suits and Kei Nagai enters to try and save Hirasawa but gets attacked by Sato himself.
File 41: Sato goes all the way to toe CEO floor and manages to burn a hole in the safe room wall and kills the president. Separately Tosaki goes to help Izumi who is still shacked to the stairwell but abandons her by saying he’ll go find a key. Tanaka manages to get hold of the secretary who is on the list to be assassinated but ends up saving her instead.
File 42: Hirasawa, Kei Nagai and Nakano all run to the roof to escape Sato who wants to chop Nagai’s head off (to make him less of himself and a better killer). Turns out Hirasawa has been shot already and bleeding to death but has a final fight with Sato, letting Nakano and Nagai jump over the edge. After fighting Sato also jumps off and disappears.
File 43: The media look down at where Nagai has fallen and recovered himself. They recognise him and assume he’s working for Sato. Nakano comes up behind with a stolen media van and they drive away from the scene. They abandon it by a river but argue about their next move. Nagai wants to escape into the wilderness whereas Nakano needs him as a sense of purpose (one wants isolation the other needing others). Separately, the tower has started to evacuate with Takana and Tosaki being escorted out without anyone knowing who they are.

Tá ficando ok a leitura, sei lá.

Sato is a killing machine, even when he doesn't use his demi-human abilities. With them, he is near untouchable. He again lets everyone know that he isn't to be trifled with. The good guys are ready for him. Their own plan to stop Sato is just as complex as Sato's plan to get at his targets. The long fight started two volumes ago is ended here. And it's a roller coaster ride!
I found that the conclusion to this arc wasn't as powerful as the stretch leading up to it. The powers at play in regards to the demi-humans seem to be kind of an anything goes situation, one that also means they've kind of left the Ajin scream power on the wayside. But in this volume, we get more Sato action that is conveyed wonderfully, a successful assassination, an assassination that's canceled because Tanaka doesn't want to kill the woman, and Kei and Ko fighting with one another over the value of human life and what it's worth doing or not. Ultimately, Ko wants to value all lives and do what he can to protect others, while Kei just wants to live a life of peace without worrying about anyone else, so they part ways.

The fight in the Forge building finally comes to an end, and things appear pretty bleak. There are some developments with Tanaka that might be a ray of hope, but Sato continues to be a force to be reckoned with, Kei has turned (reverted?) into a coward, and a lot of people have died. Ko seems to be the only one with any fight left in him, and this situation has him in over his head. This is a sobering volume, but another good one, which balances the action with existential musings and questions of morality. I don't quite know where the story is going to go from here, but I'd like to think all hope isn't lost quite yet.
Sato once again shows himself to be the ultimate warrior (though a total psycho).
These stories contain to amaze me with the originality of how someone who can immediately regenerate themselves could use this to their advantage in a fight. I came to really care about Mr. Hirasawa in this volume and he's been a little tiny side character prior to this. I'm unsure of how much more story remains but I'm definitely along for the ride.
Kei and co. continue to fight Sato. Kei figures out an inventive way to get thru a locked door after Sato does it. Sato demands Kei's head be cut off just once. Kei ends up running off to live roughly and no longer deal with the fighting that he only did because his friend asked him before to join him.
The good: -The outcome of both strategies: Sato and Nagai. -Sato is amazing character. -Nagai shines with his heroicness. -Kawaki fate. -This issue was action packed. -Sets the pace for the next part of the story.
The bad: -This was just the conclussion of the events of volumes 8 and 7. I guess that though this wasn't a verty solid volume, the whole story is.
