A daring historical romance set at the beginning of the Victorian Era. She returned to Jamaica to claim her land, her freedom--and the forbidden love that could not be denied. A child when her father's death left her the sole heir to a vast plantation on the lush island of Jamaica, and great estates in England, Elyse was raised in England by scheming relatives ready to claim her wealth by any means. When they announced her engagement to a broken earl, Elyse makes a daring escape, fleeing to her beloved home in the Caribbean. Then she saw Brace Denham, the handsome convict's son she had once adored as a brother. Now, to her surprise, she desired him as a man. Brace, the son of a debtor, fought against his love for her. Elyse, impassioned, fought for the love his pride would deny.

This story fascinated me beyond words. It was set in an exotic Caribbean world of a bygone era and I was enchanted to read about the plantations and the local magic rituals among many other things. The irresistible sexual tension between Elyse and Brace had me turning the pages thirstily, especially in the beginning when misunderstandings and Brace's hard front made it impossible for the two to express their deep love for each other. I found myself hating Elyse's evil aunt and uncle, and her anguish for what harm they might cause her next felt palpable inside me. The climax was fantastic, with many twists and turns along the way, and wonderful revelations at the end. By reading this book I felt like I'd traveled to Jamaica and witnessed it all first hand... this was a truly exhilarating journey. Quite a feat, and well done to Monica Barrie for that! I look forward to reading more from this author (I was given a free copy to read in exchange for an honest review).
Elyse, raised in England is left a plantation in Jamaica when her Father dies. She decides to leave England and her overbearing greedy family and go to Jamaica. Once there she reconnects with Brace, a man she once looked at as a brother. The two fall for each other. But things are not so simple for them. Will the act on there feelings for each other? Or will they go their separate ways?
The story moves at a fast pace, the plot is intriguing, the characters are likable. The setting in (mostly) Jamaica adds a tropical flair, the writing is good and pulled me into the story. I felt satisfied after the story ended. I highly recommend Silver Moon to those who love romance. (I suggest to readers 18+ due to sexual content)
