True Crime by Evil Killers #16

Christopher Wilder: The True Story of The Beauty Queen Killer

Of all the many psychopaths and sociopaths that have hunted for human victims throughout history, few have been more disturbing or mysterious than Christopher Bernard Wilder – the beauty queen killer. From the middle of the 1960s until 1984, Wilder sexually assaulted countless women and murdered at least nine in Australia and the United States. The beauty queen killer was not only a true psychopath, but also a hunter as he carefully chose attractive girls and young women to victimize. But Wilder was no creepy looking killer; he was an attractive, articulate man who used a camera and offers of a modelling career to get his unsuspecting, naïve victims to remote locations where he would then rape, torture, and ultimately kill them.

Among serial killer biographies, Wilder’s is a cautionary tale. First as a juvenile and later as a young man, Wilder was arrested on numerous occasions for sexual assaults in both Australia and United States; but he never served any time behind bars due to technicalities, witnesses refusing to testify, or the judges showing sympathy towards the beauty queen killer. When one considers some of the better known American crime stories from history, many red-flags are apparent that point towards the future criminal potential of an individual: for Wilder, the flags were bright, crimson, quite large, and difficult to avoid, yet were ignored by his friends, family, and the authorities. Christopher Wilder’s saga is therefore not just a true crime murder story, but also an unfortunate example of how the system can fail to protect the public from a known sexual sadist.

Open the pages of this intriguing book and read the story of an American serial killer who had it all: looks, money, and beautiful women. But as this captivating true crime story will reveal, nothing was ever enough for the beauty queen killer as he killed his way across the United States in order to satisfy his sadistic lust. Aspects of the Christopher Bernard Wilder story will disturb you, but at the same time you will find it difficult to put this serial killer biography down because you will be drawn in by the FBI’s hunt to capture the elusive criminal.

I live in one of the most beautiful places in Florida, Jupiter, with my wife, two kids and our golden retriever, Vincent. I've been a full time author for the last 15 years and I wouldn't trade it against anything in the world!

My father was a journalist and wrote about some of the worst crimes you could ever imagine, and that's where my big interest from serial killers and other horrible crimes comes from. Just to hear my father talk about the evil acts of Ted Bundy as we were out fishing as a kid are some of my best memories.

The life/times of the serial killer Christopher Bernard Wilder (aka beauty queen killer).

Warning: This book contains extremely graphic adult content, violence, or expletive language &/or uncensored sexually explicit material which is only suitable for mature readers. It may be offensive to some readers.

I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review, only an honest one. All thoughts & opinions are entirely my own.

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great movie, college PP presentation, or a mini TV series or documentary (True Crime; American Crime Story; Investigative Discovery). 4/5 stars again no references or works cited.

Ok so let me start off by saying when I was much younger my parents used to make us watch true crime tv shows and movies to tech us about "stranger danger" rather than actually talk to us. Well i remember the movie Easy Pray about Christopher Wilder. And still to this day do not understand how he goes under the radar as a serial killer. To me he is up there with several others who are well known. I was so happy to see a book about him and his killing spree
HOWEVER... this book is awful! The author uses the term "Beauty Queen Killer" at least once on every page if not more. It is just obnoxious to me. The book is seriously only about 70 pages because more of the back is samples of the authors other books. This is a book that should be read in a few hours and it seriously took me a week to get through.
I could never sit through another book by this author unless he changes his writing style. 🤢🤮

The thing with this book is that they didn't have much to work on. Wilder didn't live to tell the tale and didn't leave behind anything to give a hint about his motivations. So, you can tell, in this book, that all they have is witness accounts and police speculation. That being said, there are some pretty big coincidences that seem to point to other things he may have been responsible for.

Also, there weren't many details about the murders they did know about. Unlike other books, the author pretty much just brushed over a lot of the gory details.

As it is, I paid $4 for it, so it was worth the read at that price.

Christopher Wilder: The True Story of The Beauty Queen Killer (True Crime by Evil Killers #16) was a good true crime read by Jack Rosewood. Christopher Wilder sexually assaulted women from the 1960s until 1984. He murdered at least 9 women in Australia and the United States. This was another good true crime read.

I made the mistake of reading a newer release of this story and just got the impression it was salacious and hotchpotch to some degree...was told about this edition and so glad I read it...this tells the tragic story with integrity 👍

Definitely lacking in details. And am I the only one that thinks exclamation points in true crime books are inappropriate?

I like books about serial killers and this author doesn't waste words - a very quick read. He just tells the tale without too much phycho-babble.

I find it amazing many serial killer have existed in our society, serial killer who have vanished into the history of serial killers here in the United States and elsewhere, who more the most part have faded into the history of sadistic, heinous murders.

Unlike most of the individuals covered so far by the author, an examination, as Mr. Rosewood wrote, In fact, an examination of Wilder reveals that in many ways he lived a charmed life: he had plenty of money and material possessions, was respected by his neighbors and colleagues, and was popular with women. It was this combination of attributes which allow his victims to become an easy prey for Wilder’s depravity.

If there were no financial reasons for Wilder to kill and with apparently no physical damage to his brain, then the only possibility which remains is a psycho-sexual disorder.

Once again Mr. Rosewood has cut to the chase to give his readers the story of what made each of the serial killers covered in his series tick, especially when it came to their psychopathology. Having written commentary type items for several years for a community newspaper I can see the same kind of improvement I’ve had made during that time as I see in the author as his series of books have progressed since the first one. This is the same kind of improvement everyone makes the more they do something repeatedly.

Wilder, unlike the rest of the killers covered by the author, had a relatively, as I’ve said before, a relatively charmed life. He never served any time behind bars due to technicalities, witnesses refusing to testify, or the judges showing sympathy towards him.

For once again giving his reader an informative insight and story of another serial killer I’ve given the author 5 STARS for his endeavor here. I had a mobi.file of this book in return for my honest review.

"An Excellent History Of A Serial Killer"

Author Jack Rosewood does a great job in researching files about serial killers. Some of the killers are well known, but there are many who haven't hit the big-time publicity. Here, Australian born Christopher Bernard Wilder was sexually assaulting many girls and young women in both Australia and the United States. He became active as a teen in the 1960s while in Australia. He was a dual-citizen of both countries and his most known and violent crimes were in 1984 where he traveled across the U.S., raping and murdering nine women and brutalizing three others in a little over one-month's time. He was a homicidal sadist, a man of wealth, who hunted beautiful woman by baiting them with photographic promises to help them become models. The laws in the earlier decades were not adequate to punish him when younger as there was no substantial proof and his rape victims refused to press charged or appear in court. Author Jack Rosewood gives us an excellent view of the many criminals in this series of books. They are fast reads and make us all aware there are still many killers of this sort in our modern world. But we do have better procedures and evidence to bring these abusive, mentally unstable offenders to justice.

Once again we receive an interesting view into the mind of another serial killer. Some may want to prefer calling this perpetrator a spree killer.

I liked the book and the information Mr. Rosewood provides us with about this case. But I have my doubts that Mr. Wilder ever had a near death experience - You can visit my blog to figure out how come I suspect this. You find the link to my blog under my description

As always Jack Rosewood manages to place a lot of information about a case into a few pages

If you like true crime books that aren´t too heavy this book is a must read for you

Creepy story

This was a really creepy story. Well written for the most part. The only thing I would change is possibly putting the back stories about the same killer as the story happens not after the end. I thought the book was over and I almost skipped interesting information about the serial killer himself. Would definitely read more book by this author though.

Interesting story, but poorly written.

This book needs a great deal of editing. It is full of poor sentence structure and grammatical errors. One potential victim is described as having a "photogenic personality."
