He lives for the rush… Thrill seeking ex-Navy SEAL Adam Torrey loves a good HALO jump. There’s nothing better than the exhilaration and freedom of a heart-stopping, high altitude plummet to earth—until he comes face to face with Shannon Reagan, daughter of the billionaire inventor behind the world’s most lethal military drone. She’s champagne and caviar to Adam’s beer and pizza. They have absolutely nothing in common. Except those damned drones…
She’s living the dream… Her father’s dream. Not that Shannon has a choice. She already has everything she’s never wanted. Obscene wealth. Dubious fame. A failed marriage. An unwanted pregnancy. When her father’s integrity comes into question, she jumps at the chance to redeem him by accompanying the drone prototypes to Hawaii. Why not? It’s a simple flight across the Pacific with Agent Torrey. She’ll be in one of her father’s corporate jets. What could possibly go wrong?
Growing up in the countryside of Wisconsin, I always wanted to be a writer. I've dabbled in poetry, short stories, and more daydreaming than most. Way back when, I remember long Sunday afternoon drives with my parents where they'd tell us eight kids to, 'Look out the window and see something!'
I've been looking out the window ever since . . .
In the great Northwest pines, I saw a woman who had nowhere to run find refuge in the arms of a tender warrior seeking his own road to healing. In the hills of Wyoming, I saw a broken man who thought he'd lost everything rediscover the man he was in the eyes of a pretty girl. And in the Dairy State, (yes Wisconsin), I saw two people fall in love and overcome horrific obstacles on their way to happily-ever-after.
Life is short. Pick up a good book. Read. Write. Enjoy. Look out the window and see something!
The heroine is considered a princess or spoiled rich girl. What people don’t know is she’s someone who tried to live for her dream, but was sucked back into her father’s dream of a crazy wealth, a failed marriage and a father and husband who don’t cherish her. Including when she finds out she’s pregnant. However, she feels she still has to stick up for her father when his integrity is called into question.
Our hero is addicted to jumping out perfectly good airplanes and relying on a parachute. It’s what makes him get up out of bed in the morning. This is until he meets our heroine, who is a different way for him to get his adrenaline pumping.
The plot is a great one. I know of people who have had upbringing like the heroine, but without the wealth. The author does a great job of describing what it must feel like because it is very believable. However, when our hero, heroine, and a few others are stranded on a small island, can they figure out who is responsible for the crash, deaths and what exactly the integrity of both our heroine and her father? When you think you have everything figured out, the author throws in some more happenings and areas you don’t see coming until they are right there, which is great.
This is the 11th from this series, I'm curious to see what the next book brings.
Adam In the Company of Snipers, Book 11 By: Irish Winters Narrated by: Troy Duran
In the Company of Snipers is one of my favorite romantic suspense series. Irish Winters has the knack for writing a great romance into an original story and keeping me entertained for hours. This is the 11th book of the series and it's fabulous. Adam is our hero, and he loves the adrenaline rush. Not looking for the relationship, he is happy with his life. Until Shannon. Shannon is helping her father when she is stranded on an island with no help in site. Until Adam. There are so many twists and turns in this one, from crazy ex-husbands to drones to falling in love, I could not stop listening. It's one of those stories that captures your ear and you just have to see what is going to happen. Winters convincingly writes such realistic stories, with current technology that it makes you think while falling in love. Plus we get to see Adam with a baby, and there is nothing better than that. Cameos from the snipers come in to help, giving us that family and friends feel. I can't wait to see what Winters has in store for us next!
Troy Duran continues his amazing narration of this series. I love his voice, he is the perfect fit for these alpha men. He can raise the suspense, heat up the sheets and give us all that happily ever after with his voice. Bring on the next one!
This is the book 11 in the outstanding in the Company of the Snipers Series, a Romantic Suspense. This is a series of intertwined characters. Each story has suspense, action, and romance. This is one of my favorite stories in the series. Adam and Shannon’s story is captivating, and action packed. I loved to follow them in their breathtaking adventure! The scenery is amazingly well described. The supporting characters are great. I loved to see again the other team members! As always, Troy Duran did a fantastic job with the narration. He has a great range of voices. I HIGHLY recommend this series. Looking forward to listen to Lee, the next book in the series.
This is my second or third re-read, but it won't be my last. The mysteries that course through this story could have been made into five separate books. Trust me, you will never have all of the answers until the very end. Poor Adam and Shannon endure more disasters than you can imagine. Buckle up for this ride! Just remember, love changes everything. 💕
Another great read. I never tire of reading any of the books In the Company of Snipers. I have read from books 1 -11 and I'm on way to book 12,Lee's story. Thanks Ms Winters you sure write beautifully, and each book was captivating from the first page right up to the end. 💜
I love how this author comes up with each unique story. And like she says in her forewords "love changes things". This author writes some of the most realistic and patriotic fiction I have ever read.
I do love Ms Winters books. I am always drawn in from the first and finally released at the end. Trying to summarize would have me rewriting the whole book. Let me summarize by saying I laughed I cried set on the edge of my seat. Very good book.
Good reading as always from Irish Winters. Kind of scary to think about the drone concept that takes front and center as well as generational greed and lies.
First I want to say I love the snipers! I want to say this is the best one yet, but, I feel like I would be saying that from Alex all the way to Adam the others weren't as good, and I can't say that! From the very first book, Alex, I have been in love and NEVER want this series to end! You can't put these books down! They are all 5 star reads!
Well here we are with book 11 (Adam) and I love this one as much if not more than the first one (Alex). I have said this before but I think it still applies. These books are like potato chips. You read one and you just can't stop. Keep them coming. Thank you!
3.5 stars. I really liked this story until they were rescued from the island. Then Shannon's storyline went overboard. I just don't see where she becomes this OTT power hungry crazy person. Book had good action, but just too far out there in parts, for me.
