Lindos Retribution

Rate this book
The relaxed holiday atmosphere in the picturesque little village of Lindos is shaken into one full of suspicion and tension when the dead body of a British ex-pat is discovered early one June Friday morning in nearby St. Paul’s bay. Enquiries by Inspector Dimitris Karagoulis from Rhodes Town soon uncover a web of infidelity, jealousy, misinformation, and gossip in the village, particularly amongst the ex-pat community. Over the following weekend further events lead him even to doubt the true identity of some of the people involved, and to question their past. The urgency for the arrest of the murderer or murderers is heightened by growing concern by the bar and restaurant owners in the village over damage to the tourist trade. As the Inspector’s enquiries proceed he eventually discovers a story extending back long before that summer, and far beyond the Greek paradise of Lindos.

I really enjoyed reading this novel. It is a perfect summer read with gripping plot and complex character of detective Karagoulis solving mystery murders on Rhodes Island (Lindon town). The book has a fascinating twist at the end which I have not expected and enjoyed thoroughly. Having read John's first book 'The Hope' I could see how he cleverly connected the two stories and could better appreciate this novel's interesting plot twist. The perfect combination of setting (Lindos) and mysterious plot transports the reader to this little Greek village and evokes a desire for summer adventure. I would recommend this novel to all the thrill seeking readers out there.

Great Holiday read

Really enjoyed this book. Purchased as a holiday read as we were visiting Lindos. Both me and my husband (who reads very few books) liked that we could find the various bars, restaurants etc mentioned in the book. It became quite a talking point. Great holiday read in the sunshine.

good read

Interesting plot involving historic events but seemed a very abrupt ending - was final page missing? Look forward to book two.
