Can two very different people find their HEA on Fate Mountain? Find out in the next installment of Scarlett Grove’s exciting new PNR series!
From Paris with pastries ... Pastry chef Maisie Green has come home from Paris so she can be close to her mom. Starting over on Fate Mountain means long hours of work, but her mom persuades Maisie to sign up on the shifter-human matchmaking site started by a local bear shifter.
Ski instructor Zach Rayner competed in the X-Games before the war, and like the rest of the Rescue Bear crew he’s an ex-Navy SEAL. He loves high-risk, adrenaline-rush living … but he knows it’s time to settle down and be the steady kind of man who’s worthy of his mate.
To Fated Mate-dom ... Maisie and Zach get an instant match on the mating site. Their chemistry is undeniable, but Zach wonders if he’s sophisticated enough for a woman who’s used to the high life of Paris.
Maisie isn’t sure she’s ready for the demands of being a bear shifter’s mate -- especially an uber-athletic guy like Zach. She doesn’t even like skiing … and her business still takes most of her time. Is getting involved really fair to either of them?
And the dangers of a snowy forest Zach takes it slow, and his patient courtship is slowly winning her over. When Maisie decides to practice her skiing, however, she gets lost in the woods. Can Zach and the other Rescue Bears find her in time? And if they do, will Maisie finally be ready to trust her heart to her mate?

Shifters are now acceptable in the world after helping to win the war. A group of bears that met in the Navy during the war have joined up as a rescue team and now live on Fate Mountain. Zach Rayner aka Ski Bear has decided he want to find his mate and settle down to start a family. But despite being on the website mate.com which is ran by one of his buddies. mate.com matches humans and shifters but his true mate has never show up. Zach at 30 is getting desperate when Maisie Green returns to Fate Mountain after being away for the last 6 years at college and then Paris as a Pastry Chef.
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.Ski bear Zach is ready find his mate but it looks like she isn't on Mate.com. Maisie has come home to Fate Mountain to open her own bakery and doesn't have time for anything else well until she glimpses a really got shifter at the lodge where her mom works and she signs up for mate.com. Zach knows Maisie is special the moment he lays eyes on her and once they are matched on mate.com he knows she's his fated mate. This is a really sweet story that I thoroughly enjoyed. The characters and storyline were well written and the book flowed along at a perfect pace.I definitely recommend this book to others who enjoy a good paranormal romance.
I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. This is book 5 in the Rescue Bears series, it is a stand alone book with a HEA. I recommend reading them in order just for the character development. Zach is the free spirit of the clan and lives his life to the fullest. Once he meets Maisie nothing is the same. Maisie is the daughter of Kelly the receptionist at the Fate Lodge and is coming home to start her own bakery. This is their hot steamy story of finding their true mate. Recommend to all shifter lovers. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
As I have been commenting on the covers of these books, Ski Bear looks like a dude from San Diego, CA. He's got surfer dude written all over him. Although, I thought his hair should have been more blond. Maize is from Fate Mountain and has returned to be near her mom and run her own bakery. Her mom persuades her to sign up for mates.com and voila! She is matched to Ski Bear. Pastry chef and X-Game athlete, I don't think so, but opposites do attract. This is a great story, because Maize does the one thing we women will do to impress a man. Maize goes skiing by herself, so she can get good enough to impress Zach. Now, Rescue Bear has to be called out to find Maize before dark sets down on the mountain.
☆☆☆☆ This is novella is about Maisie and Zach aka Ski Bear.
Zach meet new pastry chef Maisie who just moved back into town from Paris. She is the daughter of the receptionist at Fate Mountain Lodge. Zach has an immediate connection and he doesn't understand why. Maisie joined mate dot com where she learns they are fated matches. They try to take things slow but when Maisie ends up in trouble they finally give in and go for it all.
Zach is such a sweetheart that deserves Maisie. He trys so much to impress her and to understand her. Maisie is very loveable and makes sure she understands everything about the bonds of shifters ro humans. Overall, this one was super sweet.
Zach always seemed to me to be the wild and crazy bear. He was a exotic dancer, ski and snowboard instructor, past X Game athlete, navy seal, and a search and rescue bear on the mountain he loves. He loves adrenaline of all kinds. Maisie was a Parisian baker who came home to open a new bakery. Both ended up on the site mate.com . They find common ground through Maisie's mom . She has worked at the front desk for Levi since he took over the hotel/ lodge. Her mom has grown very fond of the Rescue Bears and their mates. There some heat in this story but a good fan will keep you cool. On to the next bear
Another great story about a Bear shifter finding it's fated mate on Fate Mountain. Rescue Bear and ski instruction Zach felt a deep need to find his mate. all but one of the other rescue bears on Fate Mountain had found theirs. He had signed up on shifter mating site over a year ago without a perfect match and was wondering if he would ever find her.. Then he saw a luscious redhead walking toward the Fate Mountain Lodge.... and felt his bear sir and an instant attraction to her...Was she his mate??? and would he get his happy every after???
Ski bear Zach has been waiting along time for his mate even though on mate.com the dating website nothing has come up until Maisie arrives at fate mountain village even though not on the website yet briefly passing each other at the lodge things stir inside of them both they both try and impress each other Maisie trying to be more athletic and Zach more worldly but no need to impress each other they find out when Maisie is in trouble. This was a brilliant read as the other books now moving to book 6 can’t wait
It would be this series. They are short and sweet to read. There’s always a little mishap or drama but it always gets sorted out and there’s a simple sweet ending. I do wish that these books had more character development and had more interaction of the previous and future book’s characters. I like to read one of these when I’m feeling down and just want to fill the warm and fuzzies with no action or mystery to get in the way.
I loved this sexy tale of fated mates. Zack's been missing his mate and not only does he find her but she's perfect him. Maisie returns home to the Mountain and falls in lust with Zack at first sight. Zack saves the day using their bond. Great sensitive exploration of the bond wins out.
Maisie and Zach were two totally opposite people who were destined to be together. One thought the other wasn't good enough, and they both had a love for one another that could not be challenged.Grab the book, great story.Great series too.
They say good things come to those who wait, but when you have watched all your friends find their mates before you, it makes you a tad bit impatient! Zach is definitely tired of waiting.
This was my favorite in the series so far. I love the couple and the story. Although I would have liked to see more interaction I the bakery because I love bakery romances.
A good read for people who are into the series recommended highly a good read but quick shaping up to be a enjoyable series must read the next one of the series
If you want a quick, easy read with a happily ever after then this is that book same as all of those in this series. It's a cute read. Nothing special, no real plot or character development but then that isn't what this series is setting out to be.
Also, any book where the female says to a proposal "Yes, yes a thousand times yes" they automatically lose one star, this is the worst cliché line ever!
I always enjoy the light entertainment that I get from reading a book by this author. Ms Grove has forever written books that a reader could enjoy and get lost in.
I have not read the previous books. I am sure I have missed out but I was not lost since this was a story about Zach and Maisie. Previous characters are in the story but it can be read as a stand alone. I loved these two. Neither of them thought they were good enough for each other. Being so opposite of each other they try to change themselves. I liked how they both came to the conclusion to just be themselves. The pull of the fated mate was really strong but she had doubts - did lots of research- still had doubts. But I liked how the author pulled it all together for her to see that he was perfect for her and she was perfect for him. Great read.
Scarlett Grove is an AWESOME author and she has rocked another Rescue Bear book. She has proven that not only can she write awesome Alien romance, she can do paranormal romance as well. I love her work. “Ski Bear” is the 5th book in the series and in my opinion almost as good as “Brew Bear.” She has taken Zach (Ski Bear) and the rest of the Rescue bears and worked out another great book. She grabs your attention at the beginning of the book and holds it till the end of the book. I look for that in the books I read. She also has an amazing story line for the book that works great with the characters of the book. Another aspect I also look for when reading. Then she brings on the emotions that you feel with the characters in the book. You cry, laugh, get mad, you fall in love, and the sex melts you inside and out. Oh, and did I mention the AWESOME SEX? Plus, the handsome hunk on the cover helps (I look at this too). I recommend this book for mature readers 18 and over. I promise you will not be disappointed. She has not disappointed.
Maisie Green is the daughter of Helen Green, who is the Front Desk Clerk to The Fate Mountain Lodge. Maisie is a Pastry Chef who has been in Paris studying and working as a Pastry Chef. She has finally come home to Fate Mountain to be close to her mother. Helen is so happy to have her daughter home finally after all these years. After checking out her new Pastry Shop Maisie goes to the lodge to see her mother. Upon entering the lodge, she sees a blond hunk leaving the lodge with some guests. This blond hunk makes Maisie go weak in the knees, and she feels things she hasn’t in a while. Maisie’s mother talks her into signing up to Mate.com in order to find her a shifter mate. Even though she has signed up for Match.com Maisie isn’t sure she believes in this fated mate business. But when her match pops up and Maisie sees the blond hunk from the lodge, she then begins to wonder if there is something to the fated mate stuff after all.
Zach Rayner is the ski instructor for Fated Mountain Lodge and he is good at it. He competed in the X-Games before the war, and like the rest of his buddies of the Rescue Bear crew he is an ex-Navy Seal. Even though he loves the rush he gets from high-risk, and the adrenaline-risk he gets from taking the slopes at a fast speed, he has decided he wants a mate and to settle down like his buddies and be a man who is worthy of a mate. He is leaving the lodge to take guest to the slopes to ski and he sees this red headed, gorgeous woman entering the lodge. He wasn’t sure but he was almost certain with what he was feeling that there was something to this human woman.
The chemistry between Zach and Maisie is undeniable, but each are wondering if they are right for each other. They really don’t have that much in common. Zach starts wondering if he is good enough for the sophisticated Maisie who had been to Paris. Maisie is having trouble deciding if she is ready for the demands of a shifter mate. One of her problems with Zach is that he is very athletic and she doesn’t even like to ski. With the demands of her business she also wonders if getting involved with Zach is fair to either of them.
Zach knows from the experiences of his buddies with mates now, that it is important to take it slow with human females so he takes things slow with his courtship of Maisie. Maisie wanting to impress Zach decides to practice her skiing, and because she misses the ramp for the easy slop she has to take the most difficult slop in order to get down off the mountain. Going too fast down the slope, she has an accident and her phone has no service. Can Zach and the Rescue Bears find Maisie before it is too late? Will Maisie be able to trust Zach and accept that she is his mate if they find her? Can Zach and Maisie who are different as night and day find their happy ever after?
No spoilers. ARC free book given for an honest review.
