Love creates its own rules

Ascending the corporate ladder has consumed most of Tayler Carter's adult life. Now the savvy Atlanta VP and female-empowerment speaker is ready for a well-deserved retreat. A fabulous antebellum mansion turned B and B in rural Kentucky is the perfect change of pace. But her host is no unsophisticated farm boy. Rugged hunk Rollin Coleman is educating Tayler in the wonders of natural food and down-home passion.

Transforming his family's struggling homestead into an organic cooperative is starting to pay off for Rollin. But without the right woman, it's a lonely existence. Until he introduces his alluring new guest to the pleasures of the countryside. And once his small-town community embraces her, can Rollin count on Tayler to leave her fast-paced world behind and together create a place they can both call home?

I really enjoyed Tayler's visit to the countryside and the people she meets along the way, most especially Rollin. It did slightly irk me that her name was spelled Tayler, though.

Very strong beginning, good writing and an entertaining read.

The story is quite simple - big city girl goes to small town to chill out because she was on a verge of a nervous breakdown.
description

Ms Taylor-Tayler is a massive micro-manager even when she's burnt out. Yep, even on this mandatory break she is still checking her work emails - don't you just love bosses like that?

She meets small town farmer with big plans. His laid-back attitude and her ambition are love made in money making heaven. Sort if.

Rollins is a cool simple guy who has big plans of his own but takes his time. He's a simple country farm boy at heart with family at the centre of his life. Until Ms Taylor-Tayler walks through that door, and literally changed his life.

Of course, they ends up like making sweet music of a sort together.

And that's when Miss Taylor-Tayler starts her micro-managing of Rollins - making business plans, looking for partnerships and ideas to grow his business. hmmm.

What's really funny about this book, this may be just me, is that Taylor-Tayler didn't slow down at all, instead of resting she just turned her micro-managing to Rollins. It was so funny, I laughed and laughed because I was expecting her to wake up and smell the coffee and chill out. But Nope! Taylor-Tayler had plans for Mr Rollins, like she said, 'Bro, please. I'm handling your life and business'.

This romance lapses us back into the big-city-slicker trope. It’s the one where the suave urbanite gets undone by the simplicity and coziness of the countryside. The city is portrayed as a place of alienation—from friends, family, lovers—while the country conveys the old-fashioned values of kinfolk, homestead, community and down-home cooking.

It doesn’t matter which gender is from the city or the country. The predictable ending is one you can see coming a mile away. With the final words, “He promised me something I haven’t had in a long time. A family.”, the trite happily-ever-after finale is dropped on the reader with the subtlety of an anvil. With a storyline like this, one that thrusts men and women into shopworn roles straight out of the 1950s (or is that 1840s?), there’s nothing in the way of surprise. The romance is steamy enough and the sex suitably passionate. But with such a foregone conclusion this romantic tale is nothing more than an uninspired throwback to a deceptively simpler age.

Good look into the life of a corporate executive on the verge of burn out. Her friend/co-worker suggests she take an extended leave st a B & B in KY. what she neglects to tell her is that it is a working farm where the guests pick their own food.
Rollin owns the cooperative farm and B & B ans it's starting to pay off for him. As he coerces Tayler to participate and show her the pleasures of the country; he's also falling for her, but wonders if she'd be willing to leave her fast-paced life behind.

I don't like when a guy and a girl living far from each other fall in love and the girl (whether by her own choice or reluctantly) gives up her job and old life to be with him. Suddenly, she does not like her own, successful career anymore, gives it up, sells her condo, and becomes a part of the guy's life that feels like home to her.
