Slow volume unlike the previous one. Nothing is happening. But her sister Nogiku is planning to spoil Kasane's play Lady Macbeth and expose Kasane's truth in front of the world! Of course, this is going to happen or not in the next volume.
I know that this is a story about stagecraft but this was the first volume that I felt such an impact of the play. Maybe because Macbeth is the first play in the series that I actually know about. But also, the motivations of characters in Macbeth and the motivations of the characters playing the role have such a nice synergy to it. In retrospect, all the plays so far, they mirror the plot in one way or the other. I bet that if you view it from the lens of theater instead of the intrigue caused by Kasane, it'd be a very different series indeed.
Ah, the revenge. It was expected to be like this. Last volume and this one have very smoothly brought the story to this point. Now whether the revenge plan comes to fruition is another story altogether.
Kasane playing Lady Macbeth and her dedication to the role (maybe a bit brutal) created an amazing atmosphere. This volume was just a brilliant accumulation of conflicting emotions. I'm looking forward to the next volumes
Ocena: 4-4.5/5
I love the whole aesthetic of Macbeth, and the way it ties into the actual story. The plays are utilized so well as metaphors for the characters themselves.
Volume eight revolves around Nogiku and her plan to ruin Kasane. Although slow, this instalment is brilliant! Kasane has decided to play the very same role that caused her mother’s insanity and the cracks in her psyche are beginning to show. Seeing her experience the same madness her mother suffered is fascinating yet heartbreaking. And the portrayal is terrifying! Nogiku’s plan has finally be revealed and the anxiety I felt reading this and considering what the outcome would mean was immense! I’m impressed by just how much I am drawn in by this story and the Kasane series is proving to be an incredible psychological horror! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
