The Santa Muerte: The Origins, History, and Secrets of the Mexican Folk Saint

Rate this book
*Includes pictures *Includes online resources and a bibliography for further reading *Includes a table of contents This is the story of Santa Muerte, the so-called cult of crisis, a red-hot combo of a kermesse (Mexican carnival), Catholicism and New Age; a hedonist practice but involving bodily sacrifice too. It is an expression of economic, psychological and social forces, bigger than perhaps any of her acolytes suspect. The Santa The Origins, History, and Secrets of the Mexican Folk Saint looks at the folk saint and the manner in which her cult grew. Along with pictures of important people, places, and events, you will learn about Santa Muerte like never before.

Honestly, this book just straight up paints the worse possible picture about La Santisma Muerte. Its like if someone wrote a book about Christianity but only included all the burning, torturing, raping, mutilating, and enslaving of people that has been done in the name of Christ. That book would be a far cry from what Christianity can be. Even if it is a part of its history. This book does put someone things about Santa Muerte into context but otherwise, the language is completely biased, the author has an obvious agenda, and by word choice, he very well may be a bit of a bigot. Plus, the actual product itself is flimsy, ugly looking, and the text is so tiny its kinda of annoying. Save your money and find another book on Santa Muerte to read, such as Chesnut's "Devoted to Death" or "La Biblia de la Santa Muerte" sold by Skullduggery Emporium.

This book is a hateful and bigoted portrayal of Santa Muerte. It's a complete piece of Crap. Definitely disgusting there was nothing fair and balanced about this book

Ok...no new information

This simply recapped the easily accessible information already out there on the subject. It was not as informative as I had hoped.

Great read and very informative.

Loved it. Quite interesting and well researched. I am most curious about this subject and the author has done a good job of pulling the history together well.
