Asher: A Second Chance Novel by Kylie Walker is a full-length stand-alone romance novel. If second chance romances are your thing, this is DEFINITELY a book for you. It is an emotional ride that will leave you hanging on each and every word the entire journey through Mia and Asher's story.

Asher and Travis have been best friends for ages despite both of their parents having some long time feud going on. Asher starts to fall for Travis' younger sister, Mia, and gets her brothers grudging approval to date her. They quickly form a very close emotional bond. Asher then receives some devastating news and it is Mia who is there to help him through his issues and hardships. All that changes in one terrible night though...

Seventeen years later Asher is back in his hometown. This is the first time since he left seventeen years ago and he has no idea what to think, do, or expect. What happens is something he never could have possibly imagined and it leaves him with a decision to make, stay or go.

Oh My Gosh - the absolute emotion this story evokes. I LOVE LOVE LOVE second chance romance stories. I'm starting to realize that out of most sub-genres of romance, that this is my favorite one. Kylie Walker did NOT disappoint. This was one of the best second-chance romance stories I have read in a long time. I highly recommend it!

Gifted a copy in exchange for honest review:

i have read many of Kylie Walker's books but this one I have to say is my favorite. It is everything rolled into one book. First love, friendship, family, betrayal, lies, and all it takes to recover from the past and start fresh. Don't go in with any preconceived notions of what you think will happen because you would be surprised at how detailed and thought out the story/plot goes. I won't lie, it starts out slow but give it a chance and you will see why it is necessary to the plot to start how it does. Kudos Kylie on a book well

Awesome second chance romance. Asher and Mia were deeply in love in high school and had plans for a their future. Ashers mother is very ill and only has a short time left. She has cancer and is in constant pain. Finally she asks her husband to assist but he couldn't. She wanted relief and ended up begging Asher to help so he did. His father came home drunk again but called Asher a murderer and kicked him out. Asher went to one one of his best friends, Tyler and told him that his mother just died. Tyler is also Mia's older brother. They sat around drinking but Asher needed to see Mia so Tyler opted to drive as he wasn't as drunk as Asher. Unfortunately, tragedy struck again. Asher felt lost and guilty so left and was in Special Ops in the military for 17yrs before his injuries caused his discharge. More tragedy occurs and Asher has to return to the home of his youth. The author draws the reader from the first until the last page. Readers may expect to go through an array of emotions. I received a complementary copy of this book and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by this talented author.

Very touching, heartfelt with tears of sadness and of joy. Drama of ‘rivial’ families like Romeo and Juliet, Asher’s parents are great people but with Mia’s mother is like a fued that they grew up hating the other but there is no ‘story’ for the hate she had towards Asher’s mom. The first part is the building relationship between Asher and Mia but with a twist, is his mother suffering from sage 3-4 brain cancer and they spend most of their time with his mom. Her brother his always there from either Mia or Asher, and on the day Asher did the deed his mother begged him for, was the same day he and Travis had too many beers that caused Mia to loose her brother. And when the day both funerals took place was the last time he saw Mia or is father. The second half is 17 years later when Asher got the news about his father that brings him back to his hometown and basically into Mia’s arms and his son. But trouble is brewing in their little country town and it’s not good for the folks, animals or the community....

This is one of my favourite books by Kylie Walker and it has everything from love and friendship, family and betrayal, lies and hatred, anger and forgiveness. It starts a little slow but then you are pulled by the wonderful and clever plot, Can everyone recover from all the lies and betrayal? Can they let go of the past and work towards a start fresh? There are a lot of wounds that have been left to fester unnecessarily. How can one person cause all of the hurt without even a flinch or a sorry. You won't believe or see what is coming because just when you think you have it all BAM you are thrown for a loop. A job well done Kylie.

I just love this novel

I like that I can take a break from unnatural amount for sex stories seems to tell. It be good though. Just read a novel about something that could happen to anyone.

Asher was loved by all a naturally good guy, great best friend who had a little sister Asher fell for. But as his mother's illness progressed, his family life fell apart. At his mother's request everything he's ever known was taken from him in one night. So for 13 years Asher never came back home, only to emerge in the chaos of his community and family that it seems only he can solve. I highly recommend for a more softer story, cool, calm, and collected. It was well written!

Kylie Walker is a great author. This book was everything I was hoping to be and more! This story line flowed and the characters were just perfect. There is so many different emotions in this book. One chapter you are laughing, the next you are crying. Throw in a couple more with anger, tension and sorrow and you just have to keep the Kleenex near by. I cannot wait to read more of Kylie Walker books. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves laughing and crying with the characters

Asher and Mia are two characters that I loved immediately. I always love a good second chance romance and young love. This book had the best of both.

Their love was torn apart and after seventeen years when Asher returns home, you can feel the bond between Asher and Mia is still as strong as ever. As much as they had both changed, they were still the same. This is a book that I read at one sitting and I recommend this second chance romance!

Alpha SEAL and second chances

Amazing read, very well written. The story begins with some history on Asher and Mia. How their first several months in Asher’s senior year and all the sadness that leads to Asher running. Seventeen years later Asher has no choice to return, but he doesn’t realize he would have reasons to stay forever again. Asher must face his demons and his past. Great characters, great story! Definitely an author that I will continue to read.

Love Endures

Asher was young and carefree until the day his mother was diagnosed with cancer. Mia was the love of his life and the sister of one of his best friends. One night all the happiness in his life is gone. He looses his mother and best friend.
Kylie writes a beautiful story of love lost and second chances.

Great book!

I absolutely loved Asher & Mia’s story. I just live a good 2nd chance romance. I felt this book was written perfectly. You were given just the right amount of information in their past, about the day it all went hell, and when Asher returned. Hoping Axel will get his own story😉

True love rules

I love second chance romance books especially when they start off and high school sweethearts. You get the chance to se the characters grow independently of each other and then come together again. You'll love Asher and Mia.

Asher

This was a heartbreaking story of guilt that a character carried for years. The characters experience tremendous loss and hurt. But in the end is there a chance for redemption?

Really enjoyed Asher, Mia and Axels story.
I love a second chance and unknown child story.
I felt for Asher from the beginning, everything was going against him, the loss of his mother, best friend, his dad then his friends at war. So glad he came home. I believe his relationship with Mia and Axel healed his ptsd and he quickly became a loving and wonderful dad.

This review has minor spoilers. This is my first book by this author and the writing was good however I had a few problems with inconsistencies. Being the wife of an ex-marine I know you cannot "retire" from the military with less than 20 years. You can be discharged but no retirement after 17 years. I am sure he went out on disability with PTSD. Also if you are gone for 17 years you pretty much can't have a son 17 years old, it does take 9 months to have a baby. I know that exact months are not mentioned but still, lets make it somewhat real. I feel the main characters were a little under developed also, especially Mia.

The story is about Mia who is 16 and Asher who is 17 when they start dating. She is his best friends sister. Asher's mother is dying of cancer and the day she dies he is so devastated that he starts drinking and is in an automobile accident with devastating consequences. Not being able to live with all of that he leaves, joins the army and is gone for 17 years. He comes back for his fathers death and sees Mia again and finds out he has a son. They are both still in love with each other and they pick up where they left off. There is also town corruption going on that causes drama. I wish there would have been more focus on developing Asher and Mia's relationship rather than all the other stuff. There is a nice epilogue a year later with the birth of their daughter. 3.5 Stars

What an amazing story of renewal and hope. The book starts out telling Asher and Mia’s love story and then it gets dark- the time he was out of Mia’s life. The dark times right before he left and then suddenly Asher is out of Mia’s life, and for 17 years how he was gone and what he did for those 17 years. The hard times and pain then suddenly Asher is back in Mia’s life when he comes back to his hometown. This is a 2nd chance romance that is filled with hope, love, passion, and more. I loved Asher and Mia. Their pain and heartbreak opens the way for more positive emotions- the angst in the beginning and middle by the end was gave way for this couple to work out their pain and problems and make their bond solid and complete. There are villains in this story and there are fantastic secondary characters in this story. I couldn’t help but cry several times in this story which this story will have you do but it is all worth it. I loved this book and hope to read more about the son in this story. Awesome story, awesome main couple.

My rating: 4.5 stars ****

I lived this interesting story through Kylie Walker writing. I felt a lot of emotions through it. Love a book that hold my attention and this one did all the way through. I was not expecting anything like this story. It had action, intrigue, suspense, violence, romance and sex and deals with strong life issues that made me think seriously in the topics. At the beginning of the story the author was building Asher’s and Mia’s youth characters and presenting the conflicts that made way to their adult life. Seventeen years had passed with Asher trying to leave behind his former life. Liked how the characters were set up. Made sense and the plot developed in a way that I could follow and understand Asher’s pain in a better. Had a hard time putting down the book so, I read it non-stop sniffing and sobbing some times. The story line engaged and hooked me up.

DEFINITE MUST READ
Kylie Walker has done it again. I have loved every book I have read by her. This is one of my favorite 2nd chance romance books. Asher and Mia fell in love while in school, and then their happily ever after is taken away. Asher leaves and doesn't return for seventeen years while Mia goes on with her life. This story is an emotional roller coaster that has it all. It's also told in the dual points of view format that I really enjoy. It adds so much to the depth of the story. I was so glad Asher and Mia got their HEA. I received a copy of this book as a gift for an honest review. I also purchased my own copy. Patsy Sacco

I am a huge Kylie Walker fan and always enjoy her books. I have to say that I absolutely LOVED Asher. I experienced a wide variety of emotions from shock to anger (at Greg) to laughter and ultimately tears. Asher quickly became an adult at 17 years of age which led him to some dark experiences that resulted in PTSD. He fought to overcome his issues. He was away for 17 years but returned home due to a death and his life changed forever (for the better) Asher is definitely a must read!. Congratulations Kylie on a fantastic novel.
