Misery
Misery though draining can be quite addictive and Holly Doherty becomes a junkie of the highest order, with the help of ultimate hottie Jared Jones, rock star extraordinaire. In one night Holly goes from being a ballsy chick who has total control of her life, to being a woman ruled by lust, unable to clear her mind long enough to figure out what it really is she wants. To make matters worse, her boss Sean is kicking up his pursuit of her into overdrive and her Sensei Deacon is letting her know that his interest is not purely platonic. Poor Holly is inundated with hotties, while her main squeeze is unavailable for a solid week.
I was so drawn into this book that I began to feel what the characters felt, the intensity so strong that before I knew it, an emotional bond had been forged and I could swear these characters were living, breathing, entities. Gemma managed to throw so many curve balls that I couldn't tell which way the story was headed and what a glorious feeling it was. I found myself becoming extremely fickle, for one minute I was in love with Jared and wanted him for Holly. The next minute it was Sean who stole my heart and before I could take another breath, Deacon had my full attention. The inevitable conclusion was, me never wanting this story to end. Readers might want to grab an ice bucket, fan or just put the air conditioner on full blast, because this book is such a scorcher the pages are singed.
Betrayal
This book delves into the complicated and dysfunctional relationship of a couple in love. This story is not a fairy tale, it is the stone cold truth of how relationships are not always roses and chocolate's and how it takes real work and sacrifice(mostly of ones pride) to maintain it.I loved this story because I was able to experience every emotion along with Lee, her hurt at discovering her life was not what she thought it was, her anger at being betrayed by her soulmate and her desperation to hold onto her best friend and love of her life. Anyone who has been in a long term relationship can relate to her. This book is not only very well written it resonates within my heart and truly makes me FEEL the story page by page. Poppet has a way of pulling you into her books making you feel like Alice Through The Looking Glass. So that inevitably it doesn't seem like a story at all,but real experiences you share with the characters. Once again I bow to the literary genius that is Poppet!!
