Thomas Ironcutter is a hard drinking, cigar smoking, ex-homicide detective. Now he is about to investigate the most important case of his life. A case that will drag him into a world of corruption, blackmail and murder. In this high octane thriller, Ironcutter will need all his years of experience as he faces off against drug traffickers, the FBI and possibly his wife’s killer.
After being honorably discharged as a Sergeant in the United States Army, David Achord found his true calling in law enforcement. His twenty-five year career included stints with the Rutherford County Sheriff's Department and the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department. A lifelong Tennessee native, he is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University and Cumberland University.
I was a fan of David Achord's Zombie Rules series and needed a break from zombie and apocalypse novels so decided to give this a shot. Now I'm addicted to novels about hard drinking, cigar smoking, former homicide detectives.
The subplots are enough to keep it interesting and all come together nicely. The pace is excellent, the characters are engaging, and I'm ready to jump into the next one. I'll try not to stay up all night reading it this time.
Police officer is under suspicion for the murder of his wife, despite the that the coroner ruled the death a suicide. His pride would not allow him to under a polygraph test, therefore he resigned from the force. He became a private investigator and continued with his life.
To start, drags along then and call they talk about is cigars. Could have been good but just got dragged out and everything the do involves cigars, cigarettes and alcohol.
Ok, get on with the story and STOP with the darn cigars!
Author knowledgeable in what he's writing about it was hard to put this book down I look forward to reading the next one. If you like Private Eye stories you will enjoy this book
Thoroughly enjoyed the first two Tom Ironcutter novels. Pacing and premise were spot on, the cast of characters were reasonably fleshed out, and the plot adequate.
...anything I have tried to read in months. Actually read it in one day. Characters are well written. Plot kept me guessing. Going to read book two now.
Very good characters... Likeable. Twists and turns and a mostly satisfying ending. You will enjoy it. Hate this word minimum. Not going to review any more books
