The Midwife’s Christmas Surprise
Anna Zook was left behind shortly after Benjamin Miller declared his love for her. She gave up even trying to find someone to replace him. Anna lives with Elizabeth Miller and her family and is gradually taking over more and more of the practice. The family is also living with the pain of having one son leave, but Ben shows up and how he is received and tries to put his life together is a big part of this book. Three years later he returns, but is she ready to forgive him?

A Christmas to Remember
When a small girl comes into Amos Stolzfus’ shop to steal a loaf of bread he follows her to the woman he thought sent her into the shop. Finding a young woman with no memory of who she is or why she and the little girl are even there he takes her home to his family to help her recuperate from a nasty accident. After being lied to by a woman 5 years ago, Amos didn’t find it easy to trust, but after rescuing Polly and Linda from the harsh winter weather, the one thing he isn’t expecting is falling for Linda. This is a sweet romance with the conflict coming from not knowing whether Linda is free to fall in love.

I always enjoy reading stories of the Amish at Christmas. Perhaps it’s because their lives are so simple and their belief in Christmas is exactly what it should be. Anyway, these were two of the best Christmas stories I have read last year. I strongly recommend AMISH CHRISTMAS BLESSINGS to anyone who loves Amish stories as well as anyone who enjoys books about characters who struggle to overcome life’s greatest challenges.

I loved this two story novella collection written by Marta Perry and Jo Ann Brown. I'm a fan of Marta Perry but this book introduced this reader to author Jo Ann Brown. I will be reading more of her books in the future for her Christmas story here did not disappoint this reader.

The Midwife's Christmas Surprise by Marta Perry
Anna Zook and Elizabeth Miller are partners together in a midwife practice. Anna has been with the Miller family for the past five years. The family treats her as though she is one of them. No one knows the hurt and pain Anna has had in her heart for the past three years. Their son Benjamin Miller swore his love to her and asked her to be his wife, but the very next day he jumped the fence and hadn't been heard from since. Then suddenly he was back home and wanting things to return to normal as they were before he left. Anna is determined not to trust Ben with her heart again. The hurt is still raw. Can he be trusted again and will he really stay around for long.

A Christmas to Remember by Jo Ann Brown
A young lady and a small girl appears suddenly in the town of Paradise Springs Pennsylvania. What is unusual about their arrival is that the lady doesn't seem to know who she is or how she got there. She doesn't even know if the little girl is hers or not. Amos Stoltzfus notices the little girl in his grocery store and follows her to a lady the child calls Linda. The Little girl knows her first name is Polly . The two apparently were on their way to visit their grandparents but something has happened to them along the way. They are obviously Amish by the way they are dressed. The lady has no purse or identification on her. She passes out and Amos takes her into his store. He then takes her home to his family and a doctor checks her over and decides she has had a nasty hit to her head with a severe conclusion causing amnesia. The family welcomes her to their home until her memory returns. An attraction grows between Linda and Amos but her memory doesn't return. She wonders if she is married to someone . Polly is too young to be of much help. Surely someone must be missing her and Polly. Who is she really and where did she come from? Will her memory ever return?
I enjoyed both these stories but my heart went out to Linda, Polly and Amos in Jo Ann Brown's A Christmas to Remember. Both novellas were filled with the Christmas Spirit.

This is a quick easy to read Book for readers of Amish Fiction. If you read Love Inspired books or are fans of either of the writers you will want to read this two novella book.

This book is the perfect holiday gift/stocking stuffer for that reader in your life. I thoroughly enjoyed both stories, The Midwife's Christmas Surprise and A Christmas to Remember. Both stories were sweet in their own ways. There was the lost love and forgiveness that could be found in The Midwife's Christmas by Marta Perry. Then there was the story of kindness and taking a chance on love with A Christmas to Remember by Jo Ann Brown. Which both stories were short they read like full length novels. Anna and Ben were so good together. Yet, Amos and Linda showed that love can be found in unexpected ways. What I really enjoyed about both stories is the Amish influence. I felt like I was transported to this other world reading both stories. In addition, I like the idea of Second Christmas, the day after Christmas for visiting with friends, relatives, and rejoicing together.

The Midwife's Chrsitmas Surprise by Marta Perry and A Chrsitmas to Remember by Jo Ann Brown were both a quick read being a novella. Each tale is filled with some hardships and victories, pain and love with characters that will charm the readers--especially the young child Polly.

This is a nice relaxing read with two gentle romance novellas set in Amish country. I preferred the first which follows a new midwife. Some of the locals are a bit suspicious of a stranger and aren't keen on the way she serves the wider community as well. But in the deep Christmas snow, just travelling is hard enough, and as Amish ladies don't like going to hospitals the conscientious midwife is very important.

The second story shows a shopkeeper who finds a young woman and little girl wandering in the snow. The woman has amnesia and doesn't know who they are or why they were there. The child provides considerably less information than is realistic. All the unmarried shopkeeper can do is bring them home to his mother, who is obliged to help those in need. I have enjoyed other Amish romances more, but we get a good look at winter weather and understated Christmas preparations. A little too much of kids' pageants for me as a reader, though I am sure they are a big part of the life.

I downloaded an ARC from Net Galley and this is an unbiased review.

The Midwife's Christmas Surprise by Marta Perry - Delightful prodigal love story enhanced by a Christmas backdrop. Love Ben's courage to return and admit his mistakes. But Anna is wary even as she strives to extend forgiveness. A sweet, uplifting romance that embraces the true meaning of Christmas.

A Christmas to Remember by Jo Ann Brown -- A touching story with a bit of mystery. Love Amos the protector -- kind, steadfast, unflappable. And Linda is so confused and vulnerable. Not the ideal circumstances for a romance to brew but Christmas magic is in the air and the result is a sweet love story that will warm your heart.

The Midwife's Christmas Surprise by Marta Perry

The Midwife's Christmas Surprise by Marta Perry is a sweet tale of returning home and making peace with yourself.

Midwife Anna Zook lost her heart when Ben Miller left the Amish life 3 years ago, but now he is back and Anna is struggling with not only her feelings for Ben but conflict with others in the community,

I loved this book by Marta Perry, she has a way of putting a refreshing spin on Amish stories and leaves you wanting more.

A Christmas to Remember by Jo Ann Brown

When Linda opened her eyes, she didn't know where she was or who she was, all she knew was she was taking Polly to her Grandparents, but somehow she found herself in Lancaster, taking care of a little girl, being taken care of by Amos and his family.

After being lied to by a woman 5 years ago, Amos didn't find it easy to trust, but after rescuing Polly and Linda from the harsh winter weather, but the one thing he wasn't counting on was falling for Linda.

A Christmas to Remember is such a sweet tale and you just can't help but fall in love with Amos! I absolutely loved this book, so if you like Amish fiction, it's a must read!

I give Amish Christmas Blessing 5 stars!

These were two nice little romances set at Christmas.

My favorite is the first story which is a reunion between Anna who is training to be a midwife in the Amish community and Ben Miller, the son of the midwife who is Anna’s mentor.

Three years ago, Ben and Anna declared their love and the next morning Ben jumped the fence, leaving the Amish community to travel.

Now he is back and it’s obvious that the years away have been tough on him and he seems to have unfinished business. It’s tough for Anna to trust him again, having opened her heart to him and been rejected. She’s carried that pain in silence as no one else knew. The ending was satisfying.

The second book is an amnesia trope and Amos finds a woman and child wandering around in the winter cold. Linda has been injured and lost her memory and the child is too young to have useful details about their identity and where they come from.

This was a sweet romance with the conflict coming from not knowing whether Linda is free to fall in love. The ending is satisfactory.

Two wonderful Christmas stories.

The Midwife's Christmas Surprise
Anna Zook was left behind shortly after Benjamin Miller declared his love for her. She gave up even trying to find someone to replace him. Three years later he reappears but is she ready to forgive him?

A Christmas to Remember
When a small girl comes into Amos Stolzfus' shop to steal a loaf of bread he follows her to the woman he thought sent her into the shop. Finding a young woman with no memory of who she is or why she and the little girl are even there he takes her home to his family to help her recuperate from a nasty accident.

I have no idea why I enjoy reading stories of the Amish at Christmas. Perhaps because their lives are so simple and their belief in Christmas is exactly what it should be. Anyway, these were two of the best Christmas stories I have read this year. (Perhaps too, it is because they focus on love from the heart and not the sex that so many stories seem to have now!)

Sweet little quick read. It's two smaller stories in one book. Only took me a day, but that's what I was looking for at the time.

Both writers know Amish customs and I didn't notice any mistakes.

The Midwife's Christmas surprise centered on a girl who had trained to be a midwife, but nobody really wanted to accept she was capable.

A Christmas to remember centers on a young Amsih (maybe) lady who has lost her memory and is taken in by a very kind Amish family.

Both stories had happy endings.

The Midwife’s Christmas Surprise 4 stars
Sweet story of a midwife’s apprentice gaining confidence in her abilities to help birthing mothers and of the community trusting a younger midwife as the older one retires.

A Christmas to Remember 2 stars
Cute story, but a little unbelievable. Underdeveloped and there are quite a few mistakes: Larry/Ezra cheese; she didn’t notice the looks over her head/bothered by sympathetic expressions. You don’t want your reader to be the editor.

I received this book from a goodreads giveaway. It was a combination of two Christmas stories, both being quick romantic reads. I enjoy these types of books during the Christmas season and this book was no exception. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a fun read to put you in the holiday spirit.

The Midwife's Christmas Surprise by Marta Perry

Three years ago, the man Anna Zook hoped to marry left her and their Amish community for the English world. Now devoted to proving her abilities as a midwife, Anna has given up on marriage and children for herself. But when Benjamin Miller returns, now a changed man, can delivering a Christmas baby reunite these two hurting hearts?

My thoughts: THE MIDWIFE'S CHRISTMAS SURPRISE is a really sweet story. Anna is shy, insecure, and sweet, but struggling to be accepted as a midwife after she finished her apprenticeship. Ben left the Amish, but now he's back, but it seems he lost everything, including the girl he loved. Both Anna and Ben are out to prove themselves, but they do it in a gentle way. This story was a pleasure to read. Enjoyed this quiet escape to a snowy Amish landscape.

A Christmas to Remember by Jo Ann Brown

When a little girl leads shop owner Amos Stoltzfus to an Amish woman in distress, he rushes them to his family's farm. "Linda" has no memory and doesn't know if the sweet child is her daughter or even her kin. As Christmas arrives and Linda's identity is revealed, will Amos be able to claim his holiday guests as his own?

My thoughts: Amos is a kind, considerate Amish man, still living at home with his parents, but running a store. When a little girl steals bread from him, he gives her peanut butter, too, but then gives chase after her and lashes into the woman she's with. Except she is rather clueless, having lost her memory for some reason, and doesn't even know who she is or what her name is, or even if the little girl is hers. Amos takes her home to his mom. Sweet, kind of. He gave me mixed emotions and with "Linda" not knowing who she is, there was nothing to make this reader connect with her. Still a good escape to Amish country.

My thoughts on both: A good collection of two Amish romances for readers who can't get enough bonnet fiction.

I was given a copy free from a friend (not the author, publisher, or publicist) and no review is expected.

I love Christmas stories, and I love Amish stories. So Love Inspired's Amish Christmas Blessings is just perfect. And guess what?! It has two stories instead of one. I great "snack," as I call these heartwarming Love Inspired stories and novellas. Amish Christmas Blessings consists of The Midwife's Christmas Surprise by Marta Perry and A Christmas to Remember by Jo Ann Brown.

The Midwife's Christmas Surprise touched on lost love and forgiveness, while A Christmas to Remember is about generosity, hospitality and mainly finding love unexpectedly. Both are easy to read and quick romantic stories, but packs in much more than the number of pages it suggests. It's surprising how it delved on some serious issues in such a short amount of time. And that is a testament to the good writing by both authors. I did not find one area that had be questioning nor editorial issue. It was simply an enjoyable read.

With this book you get a double treat, and answers come quickly with these slightly over 100 page novellas, but they pack a lot in a small amount of pages.
With the first we are with Amish midwives, partners, in a clinic run at the Miller farm. Anna Zook lives her with Elizabeth Miller and her family and is gradually taking over more and more of the practice. The family is also living with the pain of having one son leave, but Ben shows up and how he is received and tries to put his life together is a big part of this book.
The second is the story of a woman Linda, a young girl, found by Amos Stoltfus, but the woman does not seem to remember anything except where she is now. As this story unravels, we fall in love with the little girl, and try to put ourselves in Linda’s shoes. We also find Amos caring more and move about this family, but what if she has a husband?
Great holiday stories and quick evening reads enjoy!

The Midwife's Christmas Surprise is a story of a love that finally comes back. When a snow storm strands Anna and Benjamin with a couple who's baby decides to make an entrance on Christmas eve, Anna and Ben really learn about each other and forgiveness.

A Christmas to Remember is a story of a love that is not quite what is expected when Linda and a young child show up. Linda has no memory of who she is or who the little girl is or where they were going. Amos takes them home and slowly falls in love despite thinking he would never love again.

I had anticipated that this would be my last book of the year, but toward the end of 'The Midwife's Christmas Surprise' and then all the way through 'A Christmas to Remember', I found myself turning pages far more quickly than expected.
I especially enjoyed how Jo Ann Brown (who was a new to me author) kept me guessing as to what had happened with Linda and why she had lost her memory. I did have my suspicions about one particular thing, but how it all played out was actually more surprising than I thought it would be.
Enjoyable reads for sure and for certain!
