Days away from testifying in a bank robbery and murder case, witness Kari Danville's safe house is breached, forcing her to run for her life. Scared, alone and pregnant, her only hope for survival rests in the protection of FBI agent Marc Callahan. With everyone in uniform a suspect, Marc goes rogue to keep her alive. Deep in hiding as the holidays approach, the vulnerable mother-to-be proves a dangerous distraction. But Marc can't lose another witness on his watch. As the Christmastime trial draws near, the killer stalks ever closer. And Marc must find a way to shield Kari—and her unborn baby—long enough for justice to be served.
When the safe house she’s in is compromised, single and pregnant Kari Danville must flee for her life from whoever is out to get her. FBI agent Marc Callahan becomes Kari’s protector and bodyguard until she is scheduled to testify as the key witness in a bank robbery and murder trial, if she makes it that long. This was a very entertaining story with lots of action, romance, and suspense. I really enjoyed meeting the Callahan family, especially Marc’s brothers, and I liked how they were always there for each other. The storyline held my interest throughout in this fast-paced and exciting read.
This is action packed from the very start. Kari Danville is staying in a safe house prior to giving evidence to bring a bank robber to justice. However, that house isn't safe and she ends up running for her life. She contacts FBI agent Marc Callahan who comes to her rescue. The problem now is that they don't know just who they can trust . . . . . Can he keep her safe so she can testify? Just who is out to get her - and why? Who is the person betraying the law enforcers?
This is a real action packed, page turner! There are car chases, shoot outs, tattoos, traitors and plenty of mysteries to be revealed in this suspense filled story. Through it all Kari put her trust in God and prays for them to be kept safe and her devotion helps Marc rekindle his faith. The Callahans are a strong family unit and I suspect there will be other stories about the other brothers and their sister in future books in the series. They are all there for each other and it is only by working together, supporting each other, that justice can prevail and love stand a chance of having a HEA ending.
Kari Danville was only a few days away from testifying in a bank robbery, and murder case. She was the key witness in the upcoming trail. She was staying in a safe house, when someone broke in, and sent her running. When she found a safe place to hide, she called FBI agent Marc Callahan. He knows someone in the Police Department is a duty cop, so he takes Kari on the run. The only people he trust is his brothers. I love how close he is with his family. The relationship between him and Kari grew into something special over time. This was an Awesome book. I loved the action, suspense, and romance. The only thing I wished had happened that wasn’t brought up was what his boss thought in the end. I don’t want to go into detail and give the book away. It is a book worth reading. I really enjoyed it. I especially loved the ending.
4 1/2 Kari Danville witnessed a bank robbery and murder and is now under protective custody until she can testify in court. She finds herself running for her life when someone breaks into the safe house where she's staying. Marc Callahan is an FBI agent who's assigned to protect Kari. With the safe house now compromised, he suspects someone in law enforcement might be involved. Knowing he can't ask for help from his colleagues, he calls upon his brothers for help. He's determined not to lose another witness. Especially Kari, who is slowly cracking the armor around his heart. Kari knows that Marc would never be interested in someone like her, someone pregnant with another mans child. But life and death situations have a way helping you sift through what's really important.
What a terrific start to Laura Scott's newest series; Callahan Confidential. The suspense starts on the first page and continues to the very last. I loved being introduced to the Callahan family. The way they interact with each other is awesome. Our lead couple had issues but I like that they encourage each other. There is some great chemistry between them. You feel the tension building both in the story and with our lead couple which keeps you reading long past your bedtime. This story has great balance of mystery, action, suspense and of course, romance. There is a conclusion to this story but there is also an underlying mystery concerning their father which I imagine may carry through the series. Just a hunch. There is a faith element but it feels very natural not just thrown in. Though this takes place around Christmas it can be enjoyed anytime, especially if you love a fast-paced story. Now I am really looking forward to 'The Only Witness' which will be Miles Callahan's story. I just love those brothers!

A few favorite quotes:
Two people working together and loving one another is the only way to make a marriage work.
"Thanks for coming," Marc said, opening the door for Miles and Mitch to enter. "No biggie," Mitch said with a shrug. "You'd do the same for us." He would, and was thankful for the Callahan legacy of family that their parents had instilled within them.
Marc's embrace made a mockery of the intimacy she'd shared with Vince. Making her wish all over again that she hadn't allowed him to sway her from her beliefs.

Shielding His Christmas Witness was not a favorite Love Inspired Suspense story, but it wasn't bad. I enjoyed the suspense and the characters were really nice; there were just parts of the story that I didn't like (a mix of the romance and writing style).
I loved how Marc was guarding his "witness" and he definitely had to protect her from a LOT of danger. I really REALLY liked his family and I look forward to reading the rest of the series (I've already read #2, so just have #3-#5 left).
All in all, Shielding His Christmas Witness was a good read. There were a few things that bugged me and hindered my enjoyment (mainly when one character would think something and then right after the other MC would think pretty much the exact same thing...I mean, I just heard that info and I don't need to hear it again so soon...), but I still liked it. If you enjoy LIS novels, I think you will like this book.
*I received a complimentary eBook copy of this book for my honest review. As always, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.*
My second Laura Scott read and I'm really enjoying her books! So far what the author excels at is making side characters that really stand out. The hero Marc and his brother's close-knit/teasing bond is some of the best moments of the book. The suspense was great as well here, but the sense of camaraderie, family, and faith are what really stand out. The Christmas-time setting was perfect for this book and I enjoyed Kari and Marc's road to HEA. Both of them had some terrible exes to put it lightly, but as always things worked out for them and this book had me smiling at the Christmas Eve epilogue.
The first shall be last. Yes I read all the other books in this series before reading this one. It was just as good as the rest. God and family and leading to forgive others and yourself, learning to trust others all woven into a wonderful story.
Anything is possible when you find the right person.
This is the first book in a new series and this is my first read by this author and I have to say that I loved it. This story was filled with suspense and wondering when they would both figure out that they were meant for each other. But they both had a past with the wrong person but what I found interesting was that she got him back into the power of prayer.
Kari Danville and Marc Callahan are wonderful characters that met at a critical time in Kari’s life. She was in the middle of running away from someone that was trying to kill her and she had just found out that she was pregnant. But that was not the only thing that had just happened to her the father of her baby had conned her and she couldn’t believe that she thought she was in love with him. He had taken everything in her bank account and she just wanted to forget and start her life again. Then you have Marc he is a FBI agent that is trying to keep Kari alive he doesn’t want to lose someone else. But the moment that he knows that she is pregnant it was like he just shut down. After a bit he finally told his story and it was sad. I couldn’t believe what he had lived through but he needed to forgive already and move on with his life. But what he needed to do was not only forgive Jess but he also needed to forgive himself. I loved that he had his brothers there to help him through any problems that he had and in this case he was going to need them constantly because these people or person was not letting up.
Shielding His Christmas Witness was a great start to a great series. I loved all of the characters and loved getting to know some of his brothers. Kari and Marc were perfect for each other. Ms. Scott’s writing was perfect, the storyline was interesting. I love reading a story in which I connect with the characters and that I’m able to feel their emotions.
I can’t wait for the next book in this series.

Kari is on the run with Marc Callahan FYI agent after her safe house was exposed and a assassin is there to take her out. It's only a few days left till she has to be in court to aid to convict some robbers. Hopefully she'll live long enough to testify.
I loved this book more then I thought I would it was jam packed with suspenseful moments wondering when the killer might strike next. I loved that there was the Christian aspect in Kari unintentionally getting Marc back into the Christian faith. This book was clean so can be enjoyed by any reader. I loved seeing that spark bloom between even the two. I loved seeing both characters different backgrounds. Overall a fantastic book kept me on my toes and hooked.
Shielding His Christmas Witness: Callahan Confidential is by Laura Scott. It is a Love inspired Romance by Harlequin. It is a quick and easy read. Kari Danville is in a safe house waiting to testify in a bank robbery and murder trial. The bank robbery took place right before her at the bank. Now just days before she is to testify, someone breaks into the safe house for her. Marc Callahan, the FBI agent assigned to stay with her and keep her safe. He decides there is a mole in the department and he has to stay off their radar to keep her safe. The only people he trusts are his brothers. Can he keep her safe?
Great read. I loved it. Hooked me form the first paragraph. I have read some of the other books in the series, but this is the first time i read the first book. And it was fantastic! It gives you an idea where everything starts. I would recommend you start with the first book, otherwise you kind of know the ending. And you know what happens to Marc's brothers and sister, so i would've preferred to start with this book, but couldn't. It is a standalone, so you can read them in random order if you want to.
Shielding His Christmas Witness ( Callhan Confidential )
Kari was doing her job when some men came in to rob her bank. Unfortunately she became a witness at the trial of the one robbed that was caught, and that put her life in danger. When the safe house was attacked in the middle of the night, and called the only person that she trusted, the FBI agent , Marc. If they can only make it five days, until the trial things might be able to go back to normal, maybe! GREAT 👍 READ !!!!
I loved ❤ this book's storyline. I loved ❤ the action in this story. I loved ❤ the Christian theme in this story. I loved ❤ Kari's character. I felt sorry for Kari. I loved ❤ Marc's character. I felt sorry for Marc. I loved ❤ the family 👨👩👦👦 scenes, they made me laugh 😂. I loved ❤ the ending. Awesome job Ms. Scott.
Wonderful , special characters. Story was interesting and exciting keeping your interest all the time. You do not want to put the book down. Already to order next book. Author is excellent storyteller.
This is an excellent book. A real page turner. It had everything I look for in a book: mystery, intrigue, faith and romance. I really enjoyed reading it.
The action starts right away when the safe house the MC is stashed away in is breached, and the MC must go on the run. This book is the first in a series regarding the Callaghan clan, and I think it's a strong start. There are five brothers and one sister in this clan, so if you like this book, you have plenty more stories to look forward to reading. There are a few holes in the story, and some things an FBI/law enforcement character as experienced as this one is presented as, made some of these holes and plot point drops a bit annoying, even making allowances that this book's mission first and foremost is to a romance, not a thriller. On the plus side, both main characters stayed true to how they were presented without being cardboard cutouts. This book is in Harlequin's Love Inspired Suspense, a faith based line of books. This book is a really representative of the line, without being overly preachy or evangelical; it simply stays within the Christian comfort zone, and doesn't get in its own way. 3 Stars for a somewhat satisfying ending; I would prefer a bit more depth in the tie up of the loose ends. I do like the writing style of this author, and I look forward to improvements in upcoming stories.
This book, Shielding His Christmas Witness was filled with action, intrigue and suspense with faith at its cornerstone. Loved the story even if the romance was minimal. I was left guessing till the very end and couldn't figure out the mystery!
FBI Agent Marc Callahan is brave, loyal, thoughtful, serious and kind. He has been through tumultuous heartbreak and has closed himself off into a dreary existence.
The witness to a murder and bank robbery, Kari Ann Danville, has had her share of betrayal, loneliness and sadness. Now pregnant and all alone, someone is out to get rid of her and prevent her from testifying.
Marc and Kari's adventure to protect themselves and obtain justice while opening their hearts, is pulse racing and heart thumping. Add in the Callahan brothers with their varying personalities and it is an absolute treat!
Laura Scott just became my new favourite author for faith based suspense. I can't wait to read the stories about the other siblings in the Callahan Confidential series.
Kari is chased out of her safe house and calls FBI agent Marc Callahan for help. He finds her and tries to spirit her to safety, but somehow the bad guys always find them. Soon, he learns that Kari is pregnant. Now he has to try and keep her and her baby safe so she can testify in court. Who can be trust since someone knows their every move? The only ones to trust are family...and God.
The pace is breakneck and the tone is uncertain yet hopeful with a an action and character oriented storyline that has some kisses but no steam. The characters are vivid and kickass. This is a great introduction to a new-to-me series. The Callahan family is showing up in a current series by Laura Scott about the Finnegan family. That's what got me looking for this series! The Christian ideals are woven into the story and don't seem to be just put in for effect. Read this series in order if you like Christian romances with lots of heart-pounding action and wonderful side characters who will get their own story later in the series! Enjoy!
People who make fun of those of us who read Harlequin published books don't realize that there are some very good writers contributing to the different series, especially the Love Inspired series. Many of the early writers are now main stream writers whose books are very popular: Nora Roberts, Debbie McComber, Irene Hannon, Tami Hoag, Lisa Jackson, etc. This novel, Shielding His Christmas Witness, is a good read about an FBI agent who is trying to protect his star witness from being killed by the thugs who are trying to prevent her from testifying. The plot is full of action from the first chapter until the conflict is finally resolved. I like the Love Inspired series because they are usually good, clean reads. Laura Scott, the author of this novel has contributed several good books to the series; when I see her name on a book, I feel confident that I will enjoy it.
Bam. I love this new series by Laura Scott. After the first paragraph, I knew I was really going to like it. Kari is a witness to a bank robbery. She is set to testify only someone doesn't want her to. She is basically running throughout the book once her safe house is compromised. Marc is the FBI agent assigned to Kari. He quickly figures out there is a mole and he can't trust anyone. Enter the Callahan family. His brothers, who are awesome by the way, step in in a big way. I do love the relationship that the family has. Kari and Marcus have a great tension between them. I could feel the pull. There was great suspense. It took almost until the end to figure out the mystery; always a sign of a good book.
SHIELDING HIS CHRISTMAS WITNESS is another intense Christian romantic suspense by Laura Scott. Kari is in police witness protection after witnessing a bank robbery where she worked and after the officer protecting her is killed, Mark Callahan begins protecting her until she can testify in court. This had a good mystery to solve and lots of intense, high stakes action. The one thing I found slightly confusing and that made the book hard to follow in comparison to the Finnegan series, which I read just before this one is the naming scheme—almost every character has a name that begins with the letter M! 4/5 stars.
This was a good easy Christmas read. I didn’t want too much from this book, and that’s what it gave me. Characters weren’t super likable and the plot was … a lot of things. It was convoluted in some spots but too sparse in others. I didn’t understand the motivation for half the moves they made. And there was barely any attempt to explain things at the end - lots of loose ends still dangling that don’t quite make sense. But it keeps going pretty quickly, with action whenever I was starting to get bored. I wish the pacing had included a little more of a build to the end.
A new author for me and a good start to a new series. Marc is assigned to protect Kira who's a witness in a string of bank robberies. Someone on the bank robberies task force is tracking their every move and attempts on her life. Can Marc keep her safe and get her to the courthouse in time to testify? You're going to want to read this one to find out.I can't wait to see what the rest of the Callahan clan are up to.
