"What's to The mixed-media look of The Amazing World of Gumball lends itself perfectly to comics, but now, we get to tell a full-length story, much like what it'd be like if you were watching a super-sized episode of the animated series! What It It's a beautiful day for a Renaissance Faire, and the Watterson family is having a blast taking in ye olde fun and games...until a magician's illusion turns into a real spell, and all of Elmore is cast into a fairy-tale world of quests, danger, and magical adventures! Can Wizard Darwin, Knight Anais, and Jester Gumball save Richard from his everlasting, turkey-leg-induced sleep, or will the citizens of Elmore remain trapped in the Middle Ages forever?"
I have to admit it was cute. Their constant use of breaking the fourth wall especially with the captions was hilarious! Highly recommend it if you want a good laugh.
Based on the animated television series created by Ben Bocquelet, The Amazing World of Gumball: Fairy Tale Trouble is written by Megan Brennan and illustrated by Katy Farina. This story follows the Watterson family as they enjoy a day at the Renaissance Faire being held at the school grounds of Elmore Jr. High. The day goes awry when the town folk find themselves in an alternate, middle ages equivalent of Elmore, and the kids must go a quest to find three magical items, so they can return to modern-day Elmore.
There are a number of reasons to recommend this graphic novel to kids, especially those who enjoy the animated series on Cartoon Network.....
This was an enjoyable read! It was just like watching an episode of The Amazing World of Gumball.
The story starts with the Wattersons at a Renaissance fair. Gumball is irked he cannot compete in the joust. But soon, they enter a magic show. Things take a turn when they are sent to an alternate Elmore with knights and dragons. Gumball, Anais, and Darwin must complete a quest to save their sleeping father and turn the town back to normal.
This was a fast read. I can see younger readers enjoying this, or fans of the series. The art was not exactly like the show, but it was still nice to look at.
