Nonetheless, Tajalik begins to wrestle with his pride when he is confronted with some soul-searching advice by his peculiar guidance counselor, Alfred Justice, who tries to mentor him. Yet, Tajalik’s egotism and disobedience land him in a “Dante’s Inferno” experience at the gates of hell after a gun fight goes against his favor. In this Author’s Cut of Affiliated, Champion weaves together the same elements from the previous edition, while streamlining the storyline to fully immerse the reader into the domain of the streets where good and evil are oftentimes hard to discern. I hadn't read anything by this author, prior to being introduced to this book. I found the blurb very interesting and loved the reference to Dante's Inferno.
The characters we written exceptionally well, and that was what truly made me enjoy this book. The mix of cleverly created scenarios and characters who have depth and personality gave me a lot to dive into and really enjoy. I liked that the main character was strong, very strong mentally, and used his strengths to really drive himself through the darkness he was in.
I also found the pace was done well, and really matched the scenes in the book. It meant that the tempo really pushed through the story and gave you that sense of urgency, which came from his need to get out of the Inferno situation.
Overall, this was enjoyable and I would highly recommend it to those who are looking for something a bit edgy and exciting.
**I received this book for free and voluntarily provided my honest and unbiased review.
Gritty and Raw. I liked the style of Chayil Champion's writing. Everything from the characters, setting, and flow of the novel really felt authentic.
There were a lot of things going on in these two novels. A lot of growth in the characters and the changes that came within these two novels were surprising.
Chayil Champion has characterization down to a science. His characters really run the show and make the story so fun to read about. There are an abundance of great themes throughout this novel and it is a very powerful read. Great pacing and a well written storyline. I look forward to reading more from Chayil Champion.
