Deep in the underbelly of Montreal, an ancient evil stirs at the time of the Black Moon. Rumors dark as night seep into the public, spoken in hushed tones, as though those who speak are afraid to make the horrors they whisper of come alive.
Azura, a student of witchcraft, wakes up to find her room empty. On her way to class, she finds out that her roommate has been murdered and that the Supernatural Intelligence Agency has been called in. With them comes Rook, the lead investigator, whom Azura finds herself helplessly drawn to. But while Azura is human, Rook is a werewolf, and their romance is as forbidden as it is strong.
As the darkness draws nigh on the city, it falls on Rook and Azura to protect it—and themselves.

Unbind by Nadine Travers has a lot of promise. The concept of the book actually was what caught my attention and made me pick up the book and read it but it had some flaws. For one it has some editorial errors that need to be corrected, which can be done rather easily and I still don't get how books still get published with those in them. Get a couple of beta readers to help if you need to but editorial errors should no longer exist. It also has a little bit of an amateurish feel to it, the way it is written. I am not sure I can describe it any better than that but I think that will disappear the more this author writes.
Another pet peeve of mine are books where the pace is off, and in this case it is too fast. It feels like ok this happens, check, next, now this, check, next and it all happens too fast and too smooth and the most stupid errors that one shouldn't make are made. Please, think it through a little more and develop it a little better to not make it too simplistic in a way.
I really liked Azura but she was very hot cold back to hot and lets be cold yet again. Thankfully once she REALLY made up her mind she stuck to it, but that took a while. The interesting part was, she was not affected by what happened too much since she admitted she was not close to that person, however all the sudden she was very affected. I was a tad confused by it all. Rook however was straight forward all the way and I liked that. I also really liked the director and hope to see more of her.
As I said, I really liked the concept of it all, just think there are some issues that need to be addressed to make this from an ok book to a really good book.
Voluntary review of Advance Reader Copy. I was given a complimentary copy of this book by the publisher.
Unbind by Travers. I received a free copy of this book and volunteered to read it. I skipped over the minor grammatical details and enjoyed the story. I was most disappointed when it ended and look forward to the sequel. The two main characters of Azura and Rook blend well together and alternating their perspectives worked well. There's a nasty demon that they're trying to stop from stealing a person's magic which in turn will free a bigger demon to wreak havoc. Well thought out.
The plot was ok but needs better editing. Wasn't sure what was going on at times because of the bad editing. Doesn't flow real well either. The story is ok though, but not sure I will read further into what seems will be a longer series.
Sorry to say it was a painful read. The h was annoying and stupid (unable to follow basic safety instructions time and again). The story itself was disjointed and awkward and might have just been Google translated. Not recommended.
While I enjoyed the storyline, the dialogue was very awkward and stilted. At first I thought it was another case of a fledgling author failing to appreciate grammar and spelling. After I made it about 60% of the way through the book I had to stop.
I quickly discovered that the author wrote much of this book using French grammar and sentence structure as English is her 2nd language.
I think a rewrite/edit with beta readers who read and write English as a first language is all this book needs to make it superb!
This book has a very good story line. I quite enjoyed it. I have to be honest here, it would have been so much better if there were not so many grammar errors. the story is great and it had me constantly wonder what would happen next.
Great story. I really liked the characters of Azura and Rook and how they interact with each other. The story is shorter than usual novels but the tension builds up nicely and keeps you on your toes. Interesting locations and second characters, can't wait for book two!
Interesting read. A hidden world filled with paranormal this has everything from witches, Vampires to Wolves and Demons I thought it was a good action packed storyline really loved the idea of pulling all the different species together
I would definitely read more from this author, in fact I've already taken book 1 of her Highland time traveler.
