I felt this was an important book in helping me wake up to a surprising insight. Yvonne Oswald offers a quiz to help you see how positive or negative your perspective tends to be. I was confident (as was a good friend of hers) that I would score well as an optimist. However, her talented, gentle way of asking key questions, helped me reveal hidden undercurrents of negativity.

While this didn't feel good, I paid attention and am ultimately very grateful to Yvonne (or to anyone) who can hold up a mirror to show me more of who I *think* I am. This is a deeply spiritual book, although it could be read casually by many who may not intuit the open-hearted, open-minded information flowing within.

Yvonne turned me on to the idea that literally every word has power, as every word offers a vibration, a frequency. It takes a quiet mind to be receptive to the implications of this level of empowerment.

The tsunami of millions of people evolving to a more conscious, more loving way of being is here. Many talented teachers are among us, like Yvonne, to help each of us fly high and far, as we remember and reclaim our natural freedom.

Glad I loaned it from the library and didn't put down a Jackson for it.

There were a few good reminders of the importance of how we talk to ourselves and the language we choose when communicating with others. Would you talk to your best friend the way you talk to yourself?
What words energize you? Help calm you? What kind of voice do you have?

She takes Aristophanes speech from Plato's Symposium out of context.
"Aristophanes said that each person is half of a single unit of love and that the goal is to find the other half."
Then she goes on to disagree with him and talks about how we're really circles and uses some PacMan diagrams and it was hard to finish the book after reading that. Aristophanes writes a most beautiful treatise on love but you can't just pull a sentence from it--you have to read and contemplate the entire speech.

Every word has power is a really interesting nonfiction book, it teaches you about the power of words and how the words you say in your everyday life affects you and those around you. It also helps you change the words you say and makes you say and think more positive things. I gave this book a 4 star because it taught me a lot of different things about our minds, the only reason I didn't give it a 5 star rating because I felt like the book should have been a lot shorter as it was repeating a lot of unnecessary information. However If someone wanted to read a nonfiction book, I would definetlh recommend this book.

I bought this book in 2009. For some reason, I stopped reading it after I read a few chapters. And just a few days ago I looked in my library cupboard and it turned out that I had not finished reading this book. Finally, I finished reading it in 2023.

Very interesting book. At the end of each chapter are given exercises that can support our understanding of the contents of this book. It's quite easy to practice and has a positive impact on the lives we live. In other words, changing the words we speak can change the story of our life path.

This is one of the best books I have read on how to turn up your frequency/vibration through the correct use of language. Yvonne shows you how to light up your life through a shift in focus that is dramatically impacted by vocabulary. She certainly knows how to get her message across. It's a heavyweight message written beautifully in simple style. I have had very positive and rapid results just from reading the book- before applying the lessons even!
