A rushed rescue mission doesn’t go as planned for retired Marine Jesse McDermitt and the crew of Gaspar's Revenge. The two kidnap victims are rescued, but they’d rather be taken back to the Jamaican drug runners who were hired to kill them than return home to laid-back Beaufort, South Carolina, and give the man who wants them dead the chance to hire someone more competent.Crisscrossing hundreds of miles of open Atlantic Ocean, with a weather eye on a powerful hurricane, Jesse and his crew come up with a plan to lure out the man behind the double murder plot. A high speed run from the Out Islands to the South Carolina coast is fraught with peril. However, Jesse knows that the real danger lies in the sleepy little coastal town not far from where he was once stationed. When southern politics, power, and money collide, double crosses are the name of the game. Guns blaze and big diesel engines roar, in the spooky marshes of the Lowcountry, as an innocent child's life hangs in the balance.

Jesse and crew rescue a pair of women from Jamaican human traffickers. Turns out they are the daughter and mother in law of a congressman, who wants them dead. Jesse has to figure out a way to keep them alive and get the congressman.

Not bad, but it does pretend we have the rule of law.

Another decent story but I am getting a bit tired of the plotline that relies on, what is meant to be a group of highly experienced top notch ‘kickass’ agents making stupid mistakes. Who would guess that Swimp would want revenge? Obviously not Jessie and his team.
I did like the new dog but I wish the author would make his mind up about the women in Jessie’s life.

This is another thriller with a slightly different twist. A corrupt, money hungry politician, whose wife is dead, goes so far as to contract for the murder of his daughter and mother-in-law so that he can have everything to himself. Jesse is involved in rescuing the two women from hired, Jamaican killers. He and his cohorts rescue them but they are recaptured for the money. It is a nail biter from beginning to end!

still going strong

What makes this and all the previous books so special is the humaness of the characters. They grow on you and become real. They have a sense of humor, mostly honor and trust. While this is fiction, it would be nice if there a group like this operating just outside the politics and icians. Traitors, rapists, drug smugglers and modulators have as much right as a rat or scorpion that finds its way into my house.

Looking forward to another.

I have enjoyed every Jesse McDermitt adventure by Wayne Stinnett. This author has a way of capturing the interest of readers at the very start and not letting them go until the end. This time, Jesse and crew go against a Jamaican drug gang to rescue two females and then work on goading a Congressman to admit that he offered a bounty to kill his daughter and Mother-in-law. However, the politician has some tricks up his sleeve too which jeopardize Jesse's plans and some of his crew.

Non-stop action from the very beginning with twists and turns to keep readers guessing. Great job. Keep 'em coming!!

WAYNE STINNETT: Consummate StoryTeller

The Jesse McDermitt FALLEN series continues to grow. Mr. Stinnett spins a coastal adventure story raising the ghost of John D McDonald. As the thrill of the chase unfolds, the character development brings me, the reader, right into the cozy family of heroes lead by retired Force Marine, Jessie. He is a stoic, with many damsels to rescue as our Nation is saved from enemies, foreign and domestic.

My standing review for the Jesse McDermitt novels:

Guy gets out of the military, buys a fishing boat and an island and subsequently finds himself catching bad guys with the government. Yes. Yes, it is far-fetched. But it's a hell of a lot of fun. These are not the best-written books. They're not fine literature. They're not really even good literature. But they're compelling, have some characters you really can't get out of your head, and they're mindless escapes for a day or two.

Jesse and most of the alphabet soup agencies are back in this action packed thriller! A perverted congressman wants his mother-in-law and daughter dead to get sympathy in his reelection. Jesse and his crew foil the first attempt and then set it up to catch the congressman in the act of setting up another hit.

'Fallen Angel' was another story from a great series that pulled me in and didn't let go. I could feel my emotions get the better of me during quite a few scenes. That takes talent, in my opinion. The story line was well written and well thought out. Quite creative and imaginative. I can't wait to read the next book. A great add to your tbr list.

Jesse and crew get themselves in another pickle, and Finn is introduced

These books keep getting better and better. The crew, now well known by the reader, have another tough situation on the water. And, we are introduced to Finn, Jesse's new clam-loving pup. Great job, Wayne!!!

Review of Fallen Angel

These books are the greatest. You get an action packed adventure with the flavor of the Florida Keys thrown in the mix. Plus the characters are down home people you can relate to. An unbeatable combination.

Best read

This one of the best series on the market. I normally do not read this genre of book but I have fallen in long with this series and his other series. Keep up the great work and looking for the next Jesse McDermott book.

Fun read

Not a storyline. Pretty basic stuff, but I like to read stories that take place in the Florida area. There was enough action to keep my interest, but it was pretty predictable.

Another great story filled with action and believable characters. I always enjoy Jesse and his team and am torn between reading as soon as I get my hands on a new story, or saving and savoring for a special occasion.

Hard to put this book down.

This book got my attention on the first page and held it to the last one. Jesse is a believable character without super human attributes, just an intelligent individual with a good heart and a good head.

Pretty good "no brainer". Just a fun read. This one takes place away from the Florida Keys. Mostly in the Bahamas and South Carolina.

For those who like 'kick ass' action novels without a lot of plot to think about.

JESSE DOES IT AGAIN

As I read these Wayne Stinnett stories, I continue to be amazed at how each takes on a life of its own and flows from start to finish holding the interest of the reader.

Consistently good stories with Jesse and crew kicking bad guy butt. A little repetitive with the details of boats and bodies of water.

A location out of the Caribbean for this one.

Fallen Angel takes Jesse and the crew to an area often mentioned in stories and movies I've seen and read but Wayne gives us more in depth detail and descriptions that make it like a movie in my mind. Add the detailed maps he included and I now know more about the area around Beaufort, SC including Parris Island than I ever thought I would. I had no idea what surrounds The home of the USMC! I am amazed at the layout of the area! But I digress. As always the story moves at a brisk pace in spite of the detail Wayne always includes in each story. I've read negative comments about this but it's one of my favorite things about his books. I get happily lost in the details. Get it. Read it. Enjoy it!

Stinnett still can’t speed up a boat without having it go up on plane. Once or at most twice per book is all we need to read it, Mr. Stinnett. 25 times in this book alone is too damn many!

Stinnett also still magically relocates characters from one place to another without any movement on their part. Can you say “Beam me up, Scottie.”? He uses it also to have characters pop up in scenes whenever he feels like it.

This is one of the better books in the series so far. No threats to world peace or U. S. security that need defeating here. Just a woman and her granddaughter in danger of being murdered by a scumbag relative.

I’ll be back for the next book in the series.

This is the 9th in the series and continues the adventures of Jesse McDermitt. The story is fresh and well written, a page turner for sure. The characters are believable and human, although just short of having super powers, but then the main characters are all ex-elite trained military men. These books are best read in order. The stories stand on their own, but references to past books can ne confusing if you haven't read earlier novels.

"Another Great Story"

Here's another fast-action, rescue mission story of retired marine Jesse McDermitt aboard Gaspar's Revenge. Great adventure and action packed to keep you reading late into the night. It seems at times that this author creates stories faster than I can get to read them all! Highly recommend.
