After the tragic consequences of their last case, fraud investigators Ruby Delaney and Hari Bhatt have lost the desire to expose cheats and con artists--or to risk their own hearts. But Ruby can't look away when she stumbles upon a mortgage scam that's torn an elderly woman from her Las Vegas home. And a reluctant Hari agrees to go undercover to probe an identity theft ring at a Las Vegas casino-hotel. Whena body is found in the home of a missing casino employee, the estranged partners must join forces to find the victim's terrified killer. Hari and Ruby embark on a desperate race through the city's underground tunnels, pursued by a deadly adversary who's hunting the same man.
"Dangerous Comforts" is the third volume in the Ruby Danger Series of financial thrillers.
When not hunched over my computer conversing with people who exist only in my head, I spend my time trying to tame an unruly half-acre garden and a mischievous Jack Russell-cross. I also share my southern Ontario home with two rescue cats and an overactive Netflix account.
I write The Ruby Danger series of financial thrillers, and a cozy mystery series, The Leafy Hollow Mysteries. The Ruby books reflect my interest in fraud and how it ruins lives, while the Leafy Hollow volumes are more light-hearted. I hope you enjoy them.
Ruby Danger strikes again. Even when she is sent on mandatory vacation, she manages to get herself in trouble, find a criminal or two and almost wreck the career she is trying to revive.
I read book 1 in series, but skipped directly to book 3. You can read it as a stand alone, but I'm absolutely going to read book 2 as Ruby is turning into a very resourceful and intelligent woman. After the chaos in which we left her in book 1, with no money, no career and no marriage, she has made a great come back.
This time she is in Vegas, where instead of relaxing and having fun, she stubbornly does what she thinks is right. Her business partner Hari, in the meantime, is in London depressed and doing nothing. When his neighbor, who happens to be the owner of the luxury hotel in Vegas where Ruby is staying, hires him to find the person who is selling confidential information, he reluctantly agrees and stumbles into Ruby.
Great book, great characters!
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
'Dangerous Comforts' was very interesting. I've been intrigued by this series since book one. 'Dangerous Comforts' did not disappoint. I was hooked by the first page. The storyline was full of suspense, thrilling scenarios, action and unbelievable deceit. The way it played out made it hard for me to put the book down. Ruby, as always, was a great lead. Hari and Ruby had quite the unexpected adventure that left off with another possible unexpected adventure. I can't wait to read the next book in 'The Ruby Danger Series'. A definite must read.
Another excellent book by Rickie Blair! Set in Vegas, this one features not one but two crimes that tangle into each other. There is romance, heartbreak, and non-stop action. Well worth the read!
Disclaimer: I received a free copy of the book in exchange of my honest review.
This is the third in series of Ruby Danger book that I have read. And I must say it was a freaking fantastic read. Like all previous books, this books hold you down and makes certain that you do not move your attention from it.
Best part about Rickie Blair? The author clearly knows not to repeat previous books stuff, as I have already mentioned in my review for Series#2 in Ruby Danger books.
About the plot. I was totally not expecting that Oliver would turn out to betray Watson. However, I am still left a little confused about their story. I mean Blair could have described in detail as to what actually happened that made Oliver turn so sour. Yeah, I get he was caught and beaten like anything by the cops. But then what led him to take Vicotin drug? So yeah, what actually happened there? Blair should have covered that somehow. Moving on, I am SO glad that finally Hari and Ruby are together. Like yes, thank you very much Blair. Overall, an extremely good read.
About the print and grammar stuff. There were certain spelling mistakes in some area, which can be overlooked in draft version. However, in final version, Blair might want to run a thorough spell checker. That should to the trick.
P.S. I would really like if Blair covers the storyline of Hair and Meera. I mean provide the readers with details as to why Hari doesn't live with Meera, and what is Meera's reaction to Ruby coming with Hari to Mumbai. Definitely waiting for the final version in the Ruby Danger Series.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO PEOPLE WHO LOVE MYSTERY !

While I really enjoyed the first two books, I found that I really enjoyed the third book in the series more because, as the reader see, Ruby evolves and matures in the first two books, and that is very apparent in how she acts in this third book.
Ruby continues to show compassion, and has a nose for finding trouble and wanting to solve it to help others. It is nice to continue to see her grow as a character, trying to shed her tabloid image while moving forward with both her acting and with the business she is partnered with Hari. The characters are well developed, well written and with great dialogue. I really enjoyed the progression of the series in relationship to the dynamic between Ruby and Hari, and how Ruby herself is growing.
The plot is great, as are the characters and this is a good follow up to the first two book. I don't want to rehash the plot, but there is enough action and humor to really keep your attention.
I was given a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
In this third book in the series, Ruby and Hari find themselves in two seemingly unrelated situations that turn out to be intertwined. Apart from their investigation, the two seem to belong together, but Hari is married--even if he and his wife have lived apart for years. I'd like to see that situation resolved before Ruby and Hari end up together. Ruby has a good heart and cares about people, but she doesn't always follow the rules. The descriptions of people living in the storm drains under Las Vegas were fascinating.
The author provided me with a free copy of the book in exchange for this honest, unbiased review.
This started out appearing to be a fairly breezy conventional mystery with an amateur "girl" sleuth and then turned out to be more. I hadn't read the previous two books in this series and while I initially felt a bit at sea, the story quickly wrapped me in. The plot line hits several topical matters but doesn't feel overstuffed. The characters, especially Hari and Ruby and the Havelocks are all well done. I was surprised by what happened to one of the characters, as it was unexpected. Thanks to NETGALLEY for the ARC- I'm going to look for Blair in the future. Recommend for fans of this genre (and don't be scared off by the fact that it's the third in the series!)

Although I have not read this series before and this is book three; it was not necessary to understand the story line. The author grabs your attention from the start and keeps your interest until the end. The book has well developed characters and the story is full of twists and turns that keep you hooked until the end. I enjoyed that the author finishes the story and doesn't leave you hanging, but gives you a quick peak at what the next adventure will be. I am definitely interested in reading the next instalment in this series.
When I started reading this book I did not realize it was the third in a series. It seems I am always reading series backward. With this book it did not seem to matter tho, The characters were well developed and I quickly liked several of them, feeling sorry for some also. The story is full of twists and turns, enough to satisfy any reader. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
