Designed for the three-semester engineering calculus sequence, Early Transcendental Functions offers fully integrated coverage of exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions throughout the first semester, within the hallmark balanced approach of the Larson team. A rich variety of applications encountered earlier in the course prepares students for concurrent physics, chemistry, and engineering courses. This edition features nearly 10,000 diverse and flexible exercises, carefully graded in sets progressing from skill-development problems to more rigorous application and proof problems. Eduspace is Houghton Mifflin's online learning tool. Powered by Blackboard, Eduspace is a customizable, powerful and interactive platform that provides instructors with text-specific online courses and content. The Larson/Hostetler/Edwards Early Transcendental Functions course features even-numbered questions from the book and test bank content in question pools.
this has to be one of my favorite texts on calculus I've read... it covers so much content in one book! this is the book that made me appreciate a lot of calculus' charm. the showcase of applications is utterly immerisive in my opinion too. there's one problem that stood out to me... it showcased topology and multi variable calculus .. it's one of my favorite calculus problems I've ever done. speaking of problems... this book has many practice problems which makes understanding the content so much easier. lastly this book has absolutely amazing diagrams and visuals ( especially when u get into the multi variable calculus section). overall I highly recommend this calculus book!

Not bad, but not so good as Thomas Calculus. Though... It contains derivation of Jacobian formulae, description of Least Square method and derivation of potential and kinetic energies from line integrals, but Thomas doesn`t. Thomas contains Laplacian but this book doesn`t. So it`s necessary to read both.
No doubt, will have to come back to this to review various sections. Great overview of a lot of important calculus up to and including undergraduate level. Loads of exercises, and thorough explanations of concepts with good visual aids.
The lessons are very barren - no explanations for the majority of concepts beyond what you are able to pick up from the examples. Most of the time I find myself wondering what he's trying to get through to the hapless reader. Definitely not a very complicated book, but that is because of its lack of rigor, and so is not a positive.
This text & edition offers the best in pedagogy which I've encountered. Correspondingly this edition comes with CDs which interfaces MATLAB, Mathematica (etc.).
