My very first Samantha Chase book and I'm already in love! All the #feels people. Every one. I was stunned at how emotional the story was. And not that it was sad or angsty, it just made my heart smile ... a lot.
Matt and Vivienne know each other thru Matt's best friend who happens to be Vivienne's brother. There is nothing like the best friend sister/brother's best friend trope. It's always amusing to me because I can't understand the hoopla. But that's why it's fiction, eh. :) I've read this story line a million times, but this one felt fresh. It was Matt and Vivienne's individual growth throughout the story that made it fresh. They both had baggage to get thru to move on in life. And they were both exactly what each other needed with that baggage as well. Kismet :)
This is a high ranking **happy sigh** book that shouldn't be missed. It will make you feel good no matter what's going on in your life :)

This appears to be a follow-on series from the Shaughnessy Brothers (Matt's old band is Shaughnessy and was headed by Riley Shaughnessy, whose book was, apparently, This Is Our Song). So while this is the first, there's some tangible history. I bounced hard on the first of the Shaughnessy books so I'm glad this one didn't rely on it too heavily (or, at least, it includes enough contextual information that I didn't feel the lack).
I'm relieved that this wasn't the trainwreck that Made for Us was. There are some similarities in tone and writing, but Matt isn't anywhere near the huge whiner that Aiden was and that makes all the difference.
Not that this is terribly innovative. It's a by-the-numbers romance but it's well-enough written and the characters are interesting enough that I was fine with that. I particularly appreciated that while Matt was a successful rock guitarist, he's coming off of a major undertaking that tanked hard—and that it was pretty much his fault because he just wasn't up to the challenge. And I liked, too, that he is digesting this hit to his ego but in a way that leads him to growth rather than self-pity or blaming others.
And Vivienne was interesting, too. I like how her writing life felt present and kept her busy. Chase does a great job with showing both her time flexibility and the demands that suck in all her free time. And I liked how she didn't take crap from Matt and that she found a good balance between pushing him and learning where the real pain was that needed to be worked around for a time.
Anyway, this was a decent 3½ star read that I'm rounding up on the good communication and characters that I enjoyed. And I'll admit that I'm being maybe a bit generous because my expectations were so low because of crashing and burning on the previous book.
A note about Steamy/Chaste: The main characters have sex. And the lead up is explicit enough that this isn't a chaste read. But Chase pulls the curtain before anything really happens, so this isn't really steamy, either. So neither tag applies.

Matt Reed, taking a hiatus from the band Riley Shaughnessy, decides to take a shot at Broadway where his attempt flops miserably. Crucified by the media, Matt, with the urging of Shaughnessy’s manager, disappears for a while until the bad publicity dies down. The first 75% of the book, I was thinking the story was a little too slow. But Chase did something right because in last 25%, I found myself brought to tears by the character connection Chase was building in the first 3/4th of the storytelling.

Well, Band on the Run – its going to be a rock star band book isn’t it?
That's what I was hoping, but sadly its a rock star in hiding book, and for most of the book its just Matt and Viv, having endless conversations about food. Yes that’s right, food.
She’s a food blogger and magazine writer, and I read far, far too much about food. I love food, love recipe books, and am all for the little details in a story that make it real, but there was much more about food in this story than there was about the band/fame/music.
I wasn’t really invested in either character, and although they were the main stay of at least the first half of the story I didn’t really feel I knew them – other than what they liked to eat :-)
I didn’t really understand why Matt was hiding, for a couple of weeks; maybe a month or so, but news is a hot thing when its celebs, and out of the public eye he’d soon be forgotten.
I thought as a musician he’d be doing more about that while staying with Aaron, Viv’s brother and his long time friend, but mostly he just seemed to be drifting, stopping in to talk about and eat food with Viv.
I just didn’t really feel that I knew either of them well, and I need that to be invested in what happens to the characters.
The kiss: the blurb has it as if he’d never forgotten it or Viv, but though there’s a neat explanation about it to me that didn’t feel genuine, it felt more likely that he’d kissed her while drunk and then it was gone from his mind, though not from hers.
He really was a jerk back then, and I’m not really sure why Viv is so attracted to him, as she hasn’t seen him in years and he was her brothers friend not hers, so she doesn’t know anything other than his public persona. The attraction just felt contrived, forced and I couldn’t see it being real.
They both had family issues too, that could have made for a great bit of drama but...it kind of fizzled out. I wasn’t convinced by the convenient solutions to those issues, they just didn’t feel real, after all the things we’d read about them.
There were a few things like that which I thought were going to lead up to some dramatic reveals, surprises, issues but they didn’t. I guess at least I can’t say the story was predictable!!
Its my second Samantha Chase novel, the first was a sweet story which I sort of enjoyed but wasn’t really pulled into, and I felt it was a little predictable. After reading this one I think maybe she’s an author who writes books that many, many readers love, but whose writing style doesn’t mix with what I want to read.
That’s how it goes, not all books suit all readers, no matter how well the story is written, some love them some don’t.
Its not a reflection of how good or bad a story is, simply that it didn’t work for me personally.
Stars: Two, one of those well written reads that others will love but which didn’t work for me.

What I like about this tale is that the young woman has worked online and got her life together; she's got a spot writing copy for a lifestyle and cooking blog. She doesn't need rescuing or sweeping away to better. The romantic interest is a musician who has stepped down from a band and tried to make it alone, but found that success didn't come automatically. Now he's trying to take time out from work. This young woman giving him a place to stay is his friend's sister and used to have a girlie crush on him; she's over that now, obviously, and maybe you shouldn't meet your heroes anyway. They never live up to what you expect.
The tale addresses some good points and does show that being a musician (or known on social media) isn't all it's cracked up to be. We get some interesting and healthy cooking and a picnic. I thought too much time was spent indoors but other readers may not care. While the romance seems to develop from a growing friendship, it's worth pointing out to the impressionable that not every man and woman who spend time alone need to have a romance. Some strong language appears and this is an adult romance.

This is the first book in the new Shaughnessy Brothers spin off series and it is fantastic!! This series surrounds the members of Riley Shaughnessy's band. This is Matt Reed's story and it is jam packed with all the emotion I've come to expect from a Samantha Chase story. Matt has put all he has into a Broadway show that flops right out of the gate. To control the media blow back for the band Matt returns to his hometown. A place no one would ever think to look for him. Coming face to face with Vivienne Forrester has his world spinning. He's sure the next couple of months will be the ride of his life if she's anywhere near.

I've had mixed results with Samantha Chase books, but one thing has remained the same. No book has broken the "I like it" barrier. It think it's just a general incompatibility between what I crave and what she writes. Even when there is trauma, drama, and angst, it just falls flat for me.
Matt Reed and Vivienne Forrester both have trauma, some of it very, very bad. But I just never connected with either of them. I was far more interested in Aaron's story (a tiny bit piece that came up near the very end).
This is not a rock star romance, by the way. Matt has limited engagement with music on the page and even less engagement with being a "rock star". For a book in a series called Band on the Run, this is not what I was expecting. The focus was on Viv's foodie lifestyle blogging. That's not bad; I like foodie books too. It was just... unexpected.
Also, Chase's series appear to be interconnected (á la Lauren Dane's). Matt's good friend and bandmate Riley Shaughnessy's story has already been told in This is Our Song, book 4 of the Shaughnessy Brothers series. I didn't know and hadn't read it and it was clear I was missing some pieces to the puzzle.

Samantha Chase, wow, just wow! You have have really outdone yourself again!
Samantha Chase has a writing style that I love. In every story she writes her characters have a real struggle that they must overcome. The struggle each character has is always something a reader can relate to.
In One More Kiss both Matt and Vivienne Forrester each have a struggle. Matt Reed is definitely a hot and sexy rock star. Matt's struggles were so realistic. Vivienne Forrester is a blogger. I found myself really relating to her. I loved how she had to be organized and was OCD. I really loved the instant chemistry between Matt and Vivienne. I also enjoyed the dilemma they faced being that Matt best friend was Aaron Forrester, Vivienne's older brother.
This book was very realistic to me. It had all the elements that make a great story. I found myself not wanting to put the book down. I found myself wanting to know Matt and Vivienne and by the end of the story I felt that I truly knew Matt and Vivienne. I didn't want the book to end and can not wait to read the other band mates stories.
Samantha Chase is beyond a talented writer. She has a true gift. Samantha Chase knows how to write. Her characters always have real life problems that you can just find your self relating to. Her stories are so real and down to earth that readers everywhere can really enjoy. Her stories are often unforgettable and stay with you always. I highly recommend One More Kiss.

My Review:
One More Kiss is a stand-alone adult romance that kicks off a new series with familiar characters we already know and have grown to love from Ms. Chase’s last series - double win. The plot felt a bit slow to develop as the majority of the third person narrative consists of the inner musings of the main protagonists as they tackle and work through their personal issues and inner turmoil while their surprise relationship slowly blooms. And their issues were rather large and looming. Matt was a burned out celebrity currently in career crisis and hiding out from the media. His identity and ego were trashed and thrashed and he was a total mess - inside and out. Matt was my favorite character in this story; his family history and personal evolution squeezed my heart. Vivienne was a tightly regimented and well-organized control freak with major OCD tendencies. She was restructuring her job while also changing residences and moving into her brother’s guesthouse. Vivienne was an extremely lucky girl; I was consumed with jealousy as she lived in a new upscale home with every possible convenience, paid no rent, had a handsome and sexy rock-star for a neighbor, and worked from home. I am chartreuse with envy!

Just okay for me. My first book by this author and while I have the second book in this series, I am skipping it for now because I have an arc of the latest book in the series I need to read now. This book certainly didn't make me want to just sit down and read. Eight days? Pretty unheard of for me, but that's how long it took me to read. My issue was how slow it was. How nothing much happens. And FYI the love scenes are all pretty much closed door. That doesn't bother me but it might some people. Here's hoping the arc is much better!

This book was cute !! There is really no other word for it, I mean there were alot ahh and ohh moments and there was even a really good "cute meet" or really a meet again that made me laugh. Overall a good summer read that was recommended through the Libby app and I went and got book 2 as soon as I finished book one.

This is Matt's story, the co-founder of the rock group Shaughnessy and is going through a personal crisis after his dreams of taken Broadway by storm is a total failure. Vivienne is the litte sister of Matt's best friend Aaron. She is also a strong, independent woman who has had a crush on Matt for awhile. These two are total opposites but when they come together it's fireworks. This book is filled with internal conflict and how those conflicts can help you to grow and want to be a better person. This story tugged at my heart but also gave me a few smiles. I think I found my new.book boyfriend in Matt and I want him to come grill ME a steak!! LOL!!

It was a must-read for me as I’ve thoroughly enjoyed every one of her Shaughnessy books. The hero was first introduced in This is our Song (Shaughnessy Brothers #4), but you don’t not need to have read that book to fully enjoy this one.
One More Kiss is the slow-building second chance at love story of sexy superstar guitarist Matt Reed and food blogger Vivienne Forrester. The story is told from the main characters’ dual third person perspectives. Vivienne is the little sister of Aaron, Matt’s best friend. She is also an accomplished and independent woman who has had a crush on Matt for a long while. Two years ago, Vivienne had finally gathered the nerve to do something about her crush. She managed to finagle getting backstage after one of Matt’s concerts and the two of them had shared an unexpected but totally amazing kiss. Then, Matt was immediately and unceremoniously whisked from her life without a word or backwards’ glance. Fast forward two years to where Vivienne has her life in order. She is moving into a cottage on her brother’s property which has been perfectly designed for her. With all her plans clicking into place, Vivienne is shocked to find Matt, the man she had shared that unforgettable kiss with, suddenly and without warning, residing in her brother’s home.

These two are complete opposites but, when they finally came together, their chemistry was a spectacular fireworks display! I just wish there hadn’t been as many internal conflicts for each of them to work through burdening their romantic tale.
Riley and Savannah Shaughnessy (This is our Song) play supporting roles as well as several members of the band who are also struggling with their own problems. As a fan of Samantha’s books, I enjoyed the chance to catch up with them all.

Thankfully, Chase finally broke the stalemate and, from there, their story was great featuring a heartwarming look at falling in love.

Matt Reed, taking a hiatus from the band Riley Shaughnessy, decides to take a shot at Broadway where his attempt flops miserably. Crucified by the media, Matt, with the urging of Shaughnessy’s manager, disappears for a while until the bad publicity dies down. Matt heads back to the last place anyone would look for him in his home town at his friend’s house. His friends sister moves in as well.
Vivienne’s life is coming together. She is moving into a marvelous cottage on her brother’s property and it has been custom designed to fit her perfectly. She got a marvelous promotion with the cooking blog she’s been working. So, she is shocked to discover Matt, her brother’s best friend and the man she shared an amazing kiss with once, residing in her brother’s home.
Matt’s a hot mess, full of self-doubt and quite a few scars from his past. Vivienne has a bright future but struggles with her feelings toward Matt.
I thought that the book moved really slow at first it did pick up late in the book.

One More Kiss is the first book in the Shaughnessy Brothers spinoff series. And this series surrounds the boys of Riley's band. And One More Kiss is Matt and Viv's story.
Matt and Viv have known each other since they were kids. She is Aaron's little sister and that's how things have always stayed between them. There isn't any sort of lust or longing between the two of them from growing up.
Their story is like one we've all read before but it's Samantha's writing style that gives this book a little more flare and sweetness. Samantha has this way with her writing that melts your heart and has you loving her characters.
I really enjoyed watching these two warm up to one another and help each other out. They not only grow individually but they grow together too.
The book at points did move a tad slow for me, but that's how Samantha builds her stories - she gives you the slow burn. Another sugary, sweet romance in the bag for Samantha Chase!!

There's a great, emotionally satisfying moment between the heroine and her mother. The *next* paragraph is a super sexy scene. Whaaa? Crazy segue way. It wrapped up super fast, like the page allotment had been met or something. I'm not going to go after the band on the run. Returned for content.

First of all this book was third person. Second of all I cringed so much during this book.
“A girl could get used to this view,” BAAARRFFFFF!! Ew just ew. When she purred. I’m sorry are you a cat? Why are you purring so much??? Don’t get me wrong there were some cute moments but a lot of them were…CRINGEY!

June 10, 2018I got about 75 pages into this one and decided to put it down. It wasn’t the worst book I’ve ever read, I just feel like I’m at a point where if I’m having to force myself to read then it’s not worth my time. Plus, when I’m rolling my eyes at the story 2 pages in and haven’t felt any chemistry in the first few chapters of a romance novel, something is definitely missing.

I LOVED Matt and Vi hard. This book although it is a spin off of the Shaughnessy Brother's books, can totally be read as a standalone. Vi is hardheaded and stubborn and just the thing Matt need to kick himself in the butt and take down some of the barriers he's been hiding behind. Vi doesn't care that he's famous. She sees him for him. But Matt has demons that he's not too sure he can overcome with coming back home. Will he be able to finally find a home with Vi or will the demons chase him out of town before he ever gets to tell Vi how he really feels?

Band on the Run takes us that step further to see what happens in the lives of the Shaughnessy band members once the group has dismantled themselves and moved on to new musical endeavors.. some more successful than others.. I would call this series a spin-off of The Shaughnessy Brothers series, but I don’t know if it’s officially billed this way.
One More Kiss gives us Matt and Vivienne’s romance, one that grows out of a best friend’s little sister’s crush, and one world weary man’s life changing memory of her kiss. Matt made his choice for what to do as an individual performer, no longer just one of the band. And his efforts flopped spectacularly and quickly closed after only a three day run. Torn to pieces by the critics, practically booed outta town by the fans, Matt has gone into hiding in the last place he expects anyone to be able to find him. He’s going home to North Carolina, a small town and hopefully the blissful quiet of his friend’s home where he can drink himself into oblivion and sulk until he’s as down in spirits as a man can get.
He certainly didn’t expect Vivienne to show up with her bubbly, happy personality, her refusal to put up with his crap – or the memory of one kiss that could change everything. But that’s a risk, and he’s not too fond of risks at the moment.
I enjoyed One More Kiss. This story gives us a look into the artistic mind of a musician who is questioning his talents, and the hope that there is life after a huge failure in his professional life. I liked Vivienne, she’s no nonsense, kick butt when she has to and completely loyal to the man she loves, even if he is a royal pain in the behind at the moment. They fit together so well, even those rough around the edges moments made perfect sense given how much she needs Matt to come back from the edge and live again… with her.
If you are looking for a Romance with all the feels you could ever wish for… have I got a story for you. I’d definitely recommend One More Kiss for any Romance reader who enjoys a solid story, likable couples and interesting secondary characters. You may want to sit Matt down at some points for a stern talking to, but you’ll enjoy his journey back to the world that Vivienne offers, one where only he matters, not what he can do or who he is – just Matt, and that’s enough for them both.

In One More Kiss, Samantha Chase presents a poignant, passionate story of one man’s triumph over personal and professional disappointments. As a guitarist for the legendary rock band Shaughnessy, Matty Read was used to success, parties and lots of media attention. The band members decided to take a break from touring to pursue different creative outlets. Matty chooses to perform a musical on Broadway, however, much to his disappointment the musical closed after 3 performances. While his band members have achieved success during the break, Matty has crashed and burned in a big way. Members of the media have questioned his singing ability and his work ethic.
Samantha Chase’s portrayal of Matt’s struggles takes on an edgy tone. In the novel, the reader senses the intensity of his inner struggle. Was he really the party hearty, Jack Daniels drinking rock star Matty Read? Or was he Matt Read; the singer songwriter from North Carolina?
Vivienne Forester is Matt’s best friend’s sister and she’s had a huge crush on Matt for years. A successful food blogger and editor, she is moving into a cottage on her brother’s property. Vivienne is not amused when her brother tells her that Matt is hiding out from the media at their home. Loved that the author provided a backstory to Matt and Vivienne’s romance as it clearly defined the difficulties faced by Matt’s rock star persona and provided the reader with Vivienne’s perspective.
I am glad the author chose to have romance between Matt and Vivienne progress slowly in this character-driven novel. Both characters need to sort out issues before they can take the leap from friends to lovers. Vivienne is one of Ms. Chase’s best characters. She’s is independent, smart and very career- oriented. Even though the chemistry between Matt and Vivienne sizzles during the novel, she is aware that Matt is restless. How can she have a serious relationship with a man who hiding out from reality?
The last few chapters are superbly written in this novel. Matt’s past and present seem to simultaneously collide in front of him. His friendship with Aaron, Viv’s brother, is tested and Riley presents him with a huge opportunity. Will Matt and Vivienne be able to exist in each other’s worlds? In One More Kiss, Ms, Chase delivers a terrific contemporary fiction novel with characters whose unique story has the perfect happily ever after!

A SWEET ROMANCE
One more kiss is sweet, a childhood friends to lovers romance. Vivienne and Matt have known each other since childhood Matt being her brothers best friend.
A blip in his career has Matt hiding out from the hype of his downfall and escaping the media Vivienne's brother lets him stay at his place.
Vivienne and matt haven't seen each other properly since they were kids apart from a near one night stand that Matt doesn't remember due to alcohol. like a woman scorned Vivienne remembers though & it's an icy start to their relationship.
Told in third person, A slow going plot, I didn't feel the connection to the characters I was merely an outsider looking in to their story.

amantha Chase is a new to me author, but when I was sent the information about her newest release, I knew One More Kiss was right up my alley. I adore the older brother's best friend falling for the younger sister troupe, and Ms. Chase did a great job with Matt and Vivienne's story. As One More Kiss was my first book by Samantha Chase, I wasn't sure exactly what to expect. I love reading a new to me author and then falling in love with their voice.
I love there was a history between Matt and Vivienne, even if Matt only remembered her from when they were kids. Yes, Vivienne was initially a little hostile with Matt, but she soon let that go and I enjoyed watching them become friends. I liked they were friends first before they gave into their attraction to one another. Matt and Vivienne had really great chemistry, and I think they were so good together because they started out as friends.
One More Kiss was a great start to Ms. Chase's newest series. I already know I want to go back and read so many books on her back list, and I also can't wait to read more books in the Band on the Run series.

"One More Kiss" is the first book in a new series and the first book I have ever read by Samantha Chase. I thought it was an interesting story and liked the concept of the plot.
Matt was a member of a very well known rock group, Shaughnessy. At the end of their tour, the band breaks apart to pursue individual dreams. Matt decides to star in a rock broadway show. Unfortunately for him, the show tanks horribly and is cancelled within three days. Due to his horrible performance, the press questions the validity of his talents and even the talents of his fellow band members. His manager forces him out of the spotlight to try and get things cleared up. He is offered a safe haven in his hometown of North Carolina with his best friend, Aaron. To Matt's surprise, Aaron's sister, Vivienne, moves into the guest house on the property. A week later, Aaron leaves for Europe, leaving the two of them by themselves.
I really liked Vivienne's character! She is a strong, independent woman that does not put up with any bull. She puts Matt in his place several times which is one of my favorite aspects of this book. Matt's character was super sexy and talented but at times he made me want to smack him with his self doubt/ self pitying. I would have liked to have felt a little more chemistry between the characters. The black curtain got thrown up more abruptly than I would have liked during some parts of the story. I do think this was a fun romance though!
I am rating this book 4 stars because it was entertaining and fun. Also, I am rating it 4 stars because of how much I liked the heroine. I love female characters that aren't afraid to put the guys in their place. I will definitely read more of Samantha Chase's books in the future.
