REDEMPTION

Desperate to escape her dark past, Laurel James agrees to wed the mayor of a small east Texas town. With him, life will be quiet. Respectable. Safe. It should be everything she ever wanted.

And it is. Until Shenandoah rides back into town.

Shenandoah never thought he would find the woman he's loved and lost...and he certainly never dreamed she'd be pledged to his brother. He knows he should step aside-he has nothing to offer a woman like Laurel James-but the moment their eyes meet, Shenandoah is lost. He can only find peace in her arms...but can redemption be more than a dream for a man who has known nothing but war?

I'm a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of historical western romance. I live in the Texas Panhandle on land they call the Llano Estacado where the Native Americans and Comancheros once roamed and I can often hear their voices whispering in the wind. History is thick here with the ghosts of the people who settled this land. I love writing western historical romance and can't imagine doing anything else. I love a man in a Stetson and tight pants. Oh man! Those cowboys sure make my heart beat faster.

Witty, harrowing, & emotionally heartfelt, Texas Redemption has it all. Linda Broday can weave emotions and develop characters that will stay with you a lifetime.
Brodie and Laurel both have lead a hard life, an unfortunate circumstance brought them together years ago, but fate has stepped in to reunite them again. Evil is lurking and has chosen Redemption, Texas as its next target, but they never expected Redemption to be Brodie's new found stomping ground. They are about to find out they messed with the wrong man.
Linda Broday's ability to throw twists into her books set her apart from others. The revelation of the past will have you gasping for all they have endured. A beautiful story of letting go of the past, forgiving sins cast one's way, and the redemption that sets them free. 5 Stars just isn't enough for Texas Redemption.

This is the first Linda Broday book I have read. It will NOT be the last. This book was so full of surprises, so many twists and turns that I hated to see it end. The characters were very believable and true to the time period which many authors do not accomplish. And let me interject that I am not the biggest fan of historical romances but Linda Broday writes them with such wit and emotion that she has won me over, at least to hers. It is hard to make me laugh out loud and cry with a book, but I was doing both with "Texas, Redemption". My heart would be in my throat one minute and be giggling out loud the next. This is a stay up all night until you finish kind of book. If you do not read another book, read this one. If you don't, you will regret it.Texas Redemption

Excellent read as true to all Broday novels. True to life, when two people are meant to play roles in each others lives, no matter what roads they take their pathes will cross again. People may not play the role in your life that you originally think they were meant play. No matter our past we deserve happiness, do not let your past define your present or future. I love all the, 'Grandpa always said..." quotes in this book. There is only one person that can get you your Redemption. You'll enjoy seeing Laurel's, Shenandoah's and all the other characters find their Redemption.

What a great read that only Ms. Broday can do. I have always loved her writing style she knows how to pull her reads in giving you a read that hooks you from the first page to the last with wonderful detail and delightful scenes that keep you smiling as you turn the pages to a wonderful plot that is exciting and thrilling. I loved the twists and turns in this book it is filled with pain, hope, love, forgiveness and struggles they each have to go through together and apart. I enjoyed how this story passionate buildup that was slow and steady giving it a realistic feel. I loved the characters they seemed so real to me. I can’t wait for the next book to come out to see what this author has in store for us.

WoW!!! What an incredible book!!! Linda Broday has done it again! She has created a masterpiece with her re-release of Texas Redemption. I instantly fell in love with Shenandoah (Brodie Yates), I could feel his desire to belong to someone again. To stop wondering around like a lost soul. And Laurel was amazing. She is strong and caring and giving of herself. And of course there was Olivia Applejack b'Dam (Ollie) I think she was my favorite character. I cried when she passed. She was sassy and funny and who could forget her grand pappys sayings!! LOL

This book is full of love and suspense, and heartache. It pulled you in and the real world just falls away while you read it. I just loved it. Thank you Linda for a very entertain story.

The journey to Redemption for Brodie (Shenandoah) and Laurel is filled with twists, turns, pain, beauty, hope, forgiveness, surprises and grace. While there was a bit more struggle and time spent to get Brodie and Laurel to fully connect, there was enough spark and simmering passion between them to ease my heart. I was so thrilled when they were finally able to be fully together - and the last major pieces of Laurel's pain was washed away.

Loved loved this book!!! Just when you think you will never see a long lost love surprise you are confronted with him/her again and every possible thing that can be against you both ever finding happiness together again is playing out in a way that leaves very little room for love to pull you back together but even all the evil forces in the world can't stop a love that is truly meant to be from sparking and coming together in the most unconventional combustible way ever thought possible Linda Broday definitely has a way of making one believe anything is possible. Who says you can go home again yes you can and home is the one place you will learn you are truly loved unconditional no matter what has happened. Also Linda Broday truly has way of keeping a reader on the edge of your seat and she can throw more twist and turns than an upside down, backwards flying roller coaster her books never fail to entertain and leaves a reader with a feeling of WOW how does she come up with these amazing stories she truly has a God given talent!!!

This book had several of my favorite subjects as background; Civil War, and Texas; then several people that have a past and how it can and will come back to get you in some way. This book is well researched, you can see and and some at points in the book; you feel that you are there.
You have Laurel James who is set to marry Murphy Yates; the mayor of the small town Redemption; she lives in. You have Shenandoah ( is that his real name); that has fought in the Civil War; and is wanted by the army. You also have Ollie; that is the owner of the cafe that Laurel works at. With just these four people; a story has been started; what do they have in common; where did Laurel and Ollie come from? What does Murphy Yates and Shenandoah have in common?
Once again Linda Broday has pulled me into a book and given me a wonderful detailed book. It will answer some questions; but at the end; it makes you wonder about a couple of the characters that have a part of the story, and you wonder what happened to them. I am wanting more; and would love an update on the main characters of the book.

If you like love stories that are westerns, you'll really love this book. I personally prefer modern day cowboys to the Wild West style. Otherwise this was a good book.

This was my first Linda Broday book and I really enjoyed it. I’ve seen her books around and for some reason just never thought to try them, which is odd considering how much I love western HR.

Anyway, i loved the backstory for these 2 meeting in a saloon and falling in love way back when. I can think of only one other, at the moment, that I’ve read where the heroine worked as a prostitute(at one time). I loved the choice to do this and thought it was very creative and no less appealing.

I did have some issues with the repetition and length- a lot could have been condensed. But all in all, a great read for lovers of westerns with heart!

"Texas Redemption" follows Laurel and Brodie in an old Texas town after the Civil War. Laurel is running from her past- as a teenager, she was captured and sold to a brothel. Olivia Applejack b'Dam (Ollie), a cook at the saloon, helped her to escape, and they run a cafe in the town of Redemption, Texas. Trouble begins when someone from Laurel's past, a customer she was fond of, shows up in Redemption.

Shenandoah (Brodie) is restless- after the war, he has wondered across the country, always watching his back. When he arrives in Redemption, he is surprised to see someone he thought he had left behind, Lavender Lil. His feelings for her are still strong, but he feels he must deny them, based on her profession (which he thought was chosen)... and her engagement to his brother.

While I liked Laurel, and absolutely LOVED Ollie (seriously, I wish she was the star of this book), I had a very time liking Brodie or understanding what Laurel saw in him. He was hot and cold, yes and no, so much so that I felt I was getting whiplash while reading. He was also a bit full of himself and blackmailed/insulted Laurel all over the place. I'm not sure I got what Laurel saw in him. Laurel was very likable- someone trying to find redemption for herself and taking care of everyone she meets along the way.

Ollie was absolutely my favorite- she's brash, bold, and no nonsense, but she cares deeply for the people around her. As she tells Laurel, "Happiness is nothing but a state of mind. Joy comes from tiny details, not how perfect life is." Seriously. She's AMAZING. However, as she was a side character, and the male star was Brodie, I found myself irritated with Laurel and not really understanding the obsession (maybe just my taste). Can Ollie have her own book (prequel maybe?)???

Please note that I received this book from a giveaway. All opinions are my own.

Linda Broday knows how to write the most tantalizing, intriguing novels. Redemption is fabulous!!! It's witty with some very intense moments. I love how the book, like all of Linda Broday's books, leaves you with a very important life lesson and a warm heart. Get ready to be on the edge of your seat with this one. More twists and turns than a rattlesnake. Brodie and Laurels story will forever be embedded in your heart and soul.

What a great story! Set in the south when the US struggled to heal from the war between the States. With ease, the reader is drawn into the town of Redemption where Laurel struggles to leave behind her past and build a future for herself. That is until her past rides into town. She comes face to face with the legendary Shenandoah. The one man who refuses to stay in her past and out of her heart. Attempting to reconnect with his family, Brodie rides into Redemption and he comes face to face with Lil, the one memory burned deeper into his soul than the horrors of war, engaged to marry his brother. As they battle the demons within and without, Laurel and Brodie find redemption in love. Linda Broday has written masterpiece of entertainment!

It took me a little bit to get into this book, but once I did I really enjoyed it. It was a nice, easy to read western romance. I liked the author's writing style and the characters were interesting. The story line was easy enough to follow. I have another book by this author so I plan to read that one too. Hopefully it's just as enjoyable.

Brodie Yates is in love with Laurel James. Laurel is engaged to his brother Murphy Yates. Laurel has a past, and so does Brodie. Murphy get shot and is healed by Nora, an Indian woman. It takes a while to sort everything out, but love does conquer all. The writing is unfortunate, and the book is quite long. I do enjoy a western, but I wish the writing was better.

2.5 stars I wanted to give up on it many times and skipped some of it as well.
The story in itself is great idea, but the writing style slow, boring, unemotional, and not captivating at all.
The characters didn’t do much for me and the phrases and cussing was just too exaggerated, too much.

I really enjoy reading historical romances. Love when the story continues to a new book. Would like to know what happens to Laurels siblings and Brodys brother.

I was one of the luckly fans to win a copy of this fabulous book, it did take me sometime to finish it. It was well wort the read. The main charachters are a delight, as well as the supporting charachters. It did have the up's and down's in the story line. It made me sad when Laurel's friend Ollie passed, Ollie was the one who pushed Laurel . and I enjoyed all the "slang" it made me think of my grandmother who passed awhile ago and brought back memories of her with the words in the book. I ejnoyed reading and learing about the charachters. bravo Linda on a great read.

Uggghhhh, this book was really hard to get started and then once you were hooked the story lines changed. I felt like the characters were really underdeveloped. I was longing for more live scenes and less people. I don't think I will be rushing out to get anymore of this authors work.

Thank you Goodreads for sending me this book. The first time I have read any of this authors books, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a love story, but has lots of different characters running through it and there is areal story going on. Brodie Yates is a truly likeable character and I really wanted things to work out well for him. Well worth a read, and I would not hesitate to read more of Linda Broday’s novels.

Once again Linda Broday gives us a story with a strong sense of time and place. Set in post Civil War Texas, the divisions, resentments, and struggles the people in the area dealt with run through the story. We find several people running from their past, trying to create a better life and future. Laurel and Ollie have started over in Redemption, Texas, opening a diner and seeking respectability. Laurel is set to marry the town mayor, when a part of her past rides into town threatening all she has worked for. Brodie Yates has come home to see his brother, the only family he has left. A spy for the South during the war, Brodie is being sought by the Union forces stationed in the area. Things he did and saw during the war haunt him. He is tired, wanting only to find peace and a normal life. As they all find, the past doesn't stay buried and life is much more complicated than they could ever imagine.

She gives us well drawn characters and situations. These are people we can understand, and to whom we can often relate. We see how the prejudice, injustice, and evil of the time intrude into lives and communities.

An enjoyable read. I give Texas Redemption a strong 4+ stars.
