When a book says it's about a pirate turned into a fairy and sold to a slave ship, I just know I'm in for a good time.

And I was. It was so much fun.

Denny Derrick Dalton is Captain of the La-Di-Da. He's the most feared pirate on the high seas but he's mostly just misunderstood. He's a really good guy, once you get to know him.

On trial for piracy, he'll have to defend his actions and convince the jury not to kill him, all the while learning how to use his newly acquired fairy wings, devise a way to find his long lost sister, and rescue the love of his life, Prince Merrick, from the evil witch that cursed him in the first place.

It's a very silly story that manages to balance a little bit of gravity with a whole lot of absurd, and just when you think you have it all figured out, think again.

If you're worried about it being a historical setting, don't. It doesn't feel historical in the slightest. It's historical light, with the feel of contemporary, and a huge amount of fantasy weaved throughout.

Every time I thought to myself that this read couldn't get any better - it did. (It reached stratosphere when the Kinbaku-bi scene came on page.)

I was a little over halfway through when I thought to myself, You know, the only thing that could make this better would be a dragon. Can you guess what showed up a few pages later? A sea dragon/creature/thing.

There's a whole minefield of silly and awesomeness in this book, and I refuse to spoil any of it for you.

But there are a couple of things to keep in mind:
This is meant to be a silly, fun read. Don't think too deeply on the details. Like, when they tell you that a fairy is immortal, but that every alcoholic drink takes a year off their life. Try to keep from doing the math. What's infinity minus 200?

And there's no doubt that Denny Derrick Dalton is in love with his Prince and desperate to be reunited with him. Sure, he's going to reminisce in great detail about experiences with someone in his past, and sure he's going to give really good head to that bumblebee guy over there because he's gotta pay him back somehow, right? Denny LOVES sex. Even if you don't like to read about your MC getting it on with other people, go on this ride with Denny. Trust me, it'll be worth it.

This read was just all around good fun. I wanted a little more from the ending - there were bits and pieces left unresolved, but this wasn't exactly a deep story, so it doesn't really matter.

There's a man with a tail of a fox, centaurs, good witches, bad witches, self-duplicating money, and a whole Island filled with things guaranteed to make you smile.
His beautiful ship surged forward toward the doomed vessels and he smiled widely until he glimpsed one of his crew running past him. As soon as the man became aware of Denny's scrutiny he gave a strange whimpering sound, clapped a hand over his badly swollen right ear and tiptoed backward away from Denny.
"What's he doing? And what happened to his ear?" Deny demanded of Rigby who sighed.
"You don't remember?"
"No. What am I supposed to remember?"
"You tried to have sex with his ear last night."
"I- What?"
"You heard. You broke into his bunk and tried sticking your cock in his ear. I had to thunk you over the head to get you to stop."

Are you smiling yet?

If you're in the mood for a fun afternoon read, this is the book for you.

Highly recommended.

Denny Derek Dalton has a reputation as a fierce pirate. Unfortunately, everything changes when a wicked witch, Princes Fortunata, curses him and leaves him with fairy wings, something no self-respecting pirate captain should have. If that is not bad enough, she leaves his ship taking her brother Merritt, the man Denny that deeply loves, with her. Now he is stuck with wings he cannot use and a depression. If that is not bad enough, his crew mutinies and turns him over to slave ship. But this is not just any slave ship, it a magical one that takes Denny to magical court where he is put on trial and forced to explain his actions.

The Pirate Fairy is a delight from beginning to end. Just when you think you know what comes next, everything changes. As you immerse yourself into the pages of The Pirate Fairy, you will find that no one is as they appear and not even time is stable. Be prepared to be surprised and amazed when you pick up The Fairy Pirate.

Four star!
This was a fun story that made me wonder if Merritt and Denny were going to ever be together. At times the story went back and forth between Denny’s past and current happenings. It made following more cumbersome than normal. However the story is still enjoyable. I loved the characters in the story. They came alive on page and made me want to know more about them. They were each so well developed with very distinctive personalities and their own desires for the future.
Denny was more than he initially comes across. He was a pleasant surprise with a pure heart and a strong sense of right and wrong. For a pirate, I loved that he wasn’t truly a bad guy. He loved Merritt so much you could feel it even when he was falling down drunk. His journey through the trial was so interesting. At times you couldn’t tell if his legal counsel was truly on his side. However I did feel his ending was a little too easy. He had all these struggles and things he had to overcome. Then the final part was like “Oh, I can fix that for you” without any real thought put into it.
Merritt was interesting. His love for Denny was the driving force behind most of his actions in the story. He seemed to act rashly at times. However he knew exactly what needed to be done to make things right and get back to Denny. I felt bad for him because of the things he endured at the hands of his sister and his time in captivity. But he is amazingly strong for not letting it definite his life.
Fortunate was such a bad person. You can’t help but dislike her right from the beginning. It was kind of astounding though how deep her influence went on events in the story and how far she will go to get what she wants. It was hard to pinpoint her true motivation in the story though. But she had so many people working for her whether out of fear or misguided loyalty you could never tell if someone was telling the truth through most of the book. It created this fun dynamic of misdirection and red herrings before we find the truth of things afterwards.
The ending was so sweet though. I liked how the storylines are wrapped up and you’re not working about things. I’d love a sequel where we get to see how everyone handles the future; along with what Merritt and Denny choose to do. The whole cast is fun so I hope they’d all make an appearance at some point in the sequel as well.

Unbelievably silly, and not in a good way. Possibly the most telling thing here is that there's an excerpt for a different book by the author at the end, which finishes with a scene that's nearly word for word the last scene of this book -- and that sentence is almost as confusing as the experience of reading it was to me! I think I'll be taking anything by this author off my TBR -- not worth the effort needed to plow through their ridiculous plot twists.

This was laugh-out-loud funny. Denny is adorable and the story is fast paced and surprising but shouldn't really be surprised. This author has a wicked sense of humor. I loved the magical court that tries Denny and how mean some of the fairies could be. Only one BDSM scene but it's good. The whole book is refreshing and different and I am still laughing.

I love a story where you have no idea where it will go next and you get that in droves here. The idea that being a fairy is thrust on you as punishment is interesting and Denny is a great hero. Thoroughly enjoyed this.
