Tiffany Wilkes, “SanFran Pearl,” spends hours on dating websites. She’s tired of guys who can’t charm the lid off of a garbage can and sick of God awful blind dates, and mindless encounters. Meeting men at work is a competition and a risk of breaking a dating policy that results in termination.
SanFran Pearl searches for a local suitor interested in a meaningful relationship. Her humorous approach wins a positive response but the connection wanes to disappointment.
When SanFran Pearl receives an interesting email from “Lost Sailor,” Manny Perez - a Navy retiree near Miami, her spirit of chance shoots to the stars. Instead of her typical approach, she’s googling for a background check that’s best suited for the FBI.
Is Lost Sailor a catfish or the catch of the century?
Lonz is from Augusta GA, a Marine Corps veteran, and former Adjunct Professor. He was also a Project Manager Professional and worked in multiple areas of technology.
He loves family, friends, scuba diving, and physical fitness.
His love of writing began at a youthful age. However, he never stepped out on faith until his first novel "Good Guys Finish Last." Though it's not his best work, it's a story most readers enjoy. His second book "A Choice to Yield" addresses continual social issues where love is blind. Yet again, the story attacks moral America. Subsequent books include "When Love Evolves, and Crossed Expectations" part of the Good Guys Series. "A Cyber Affair" online dating for Baby Boomers, and "A Loss Too Great" when your world crumbles before your eyes.
I really don't know what to think about this book , I really don't . It's about Manny and Tiffany , both having difficulties finding a good match , who meet through online dating and fall in love eventually . The characters are flat , I felt nothing towards them and I didn't love or hate any of them ! The story has no twists or surprises whatsoever , you already know what's going to happen . But what really bothered me is the first chapter , how can you spoil the whole book in the first chapter ? You already know they're going to meet , The end is ruined and you're just reading to see what they have to go through to get to each other. I wasn't so eager to find out what had happened when they met and I also wasn't eager to read more about their dating adventures ! Because i felt that the book was already spoiled for me ! Over all , It's not that bad , I enjoyed some chapters !
Cyber Affair was the best of Lonz Cook's books thus far. The plot enveloped through the emails of the two main characters which build tremendous suspense. Many of the details of online relationships were true to my experiences. The writing style of the text involved the daily life happenings of several likeable characters. They were all relatable and fun to watch from a "fly on the wall" perspective. The balance of information from chapter to chapter created that grab that made it hard to put down the book. I would highly recommend Cyber Affair as a "sexy break" from the stresses of life! It was easy reading and exciting.
I had the honor of reading an in-process galley copy, so my comments will be limited to plot, character development, rather than structure or editing. I enjoyed reading an honest story about online dating from a male point of view. Dating is a whole different ballgame as we mature, and the author gets it right with Manny and Tiffany, from the well-intentioned encounters to the crazy. In the end the author gets it right - while the convenience of technology allows us to explore the world for love, human touch will always be the treasure that fills the heart.
Cyber Affair is a great read! I don't like being able to guess what's coming next in a book so I enjoyed the suspense that developed from the emails. It's not often you get to hear about online dating from a guy's perspective, and I will be recommending this to my book club.
Maybe it was my age or my dating history, but I found it hard to relate to A Cyber Affair. Stealing a line from Winston Churchill, it had "all the virtues I dislike and none of the vices I admire."
P.S. I won this book through a goodreads giveaway.
Charming Romance story of finding love online vs IRL. The pros and cons, the perfect guy vs the absolutely no goes both ways whether from a man's or woman's perspective. Also delves into the Married guy, Narcissistic guy, the Casual date woman, the Independent woman. I could've used a few more really weird date guys or girls and why women or men swipe left in a second rather than chatting a little first. (So it's only looks?) There are no dates of horror stories, thankfully.
As a person who started online dating way back when AOL chat rooms were all you had and no photos, you had to really delve into the person. At least 2 "spicy" bits, so if you are looking for very light porn it's there.
Tiffany Wilkes in San Fransisco and Manny Perez in Miami are both looking for love through online dating. Both have met their share of Mr. and Miss Wrongs through internet dating and the more traditional methods of dating (being set up by a friend, meeting someone in a bar). Manny discovers Tiffany’s profile on a dating website and wants to get to know her. Tiffany has a no long distance-dating rule but agrees to be Manny’s friend, and they start chatting and sharing details of their lives with each other, growing closer and closer.
As someone lucky enough not to have had to try online dating, I was looking forward to reading a novel about the experience. However, I had trouble getting into this story. The characters were flat, and the writing seemed a little stilted at time. I did receive a galley copy of the book, so hopefully some changes were made to make the story read better by the time the final edition came out. It was an interesting story, just not executed to the level I would have liked to have seen.
A Cyber Affair 4 out of 5 stars. I wasn't expecting a lot from this book, but it really surprised me. I thought it sounded a bit 'nerdy' from the title but it just goes to prove the saying about not judging a book by its cover! It turned out to be a really endearing story of two separate people on their calamitous journeys to find their perfect partners, and I didn't put it down until I had finished it. I'd recommend this book to everyone that just loves a good happy ending.
There is a mix of technology in this book old and new which is, i wouldn't stay confusing it is just off. The story overall is well written, character could use a bit more development more depth I didn't love or hate anyone. I would have also like to have more descriptive details, on the settings. There are no surprises in the book we know that the main characters were going to get together from the first few chapter, your just reading to see what they have to go through to get to each other.
An amazing story. I authored this book with the idea of sharing what most experience with online dating. The story focuses on non millennials because mature folks aren't as savvy with the concept. However, the characters and actions are definitely true to life and recognizable within each of us who has ventured online.
I recommend this book to others and hopefully you will tell your friends about this Easy-Fun-Read.
