He wanted a little R&R. He got a baby.

When my stepbrother Max enlisted in the marines several years back, it was the worse moment of my life. Now that he’s returning home from his tour, I’m filled with excitement. I’ve grown up a lot since he last saw me and a lot has changed. I’ve blossomed into a woman and I’ve managed to put my crush on him to the side.

But when I open the door and see him standing there, looking like the rugged soldier that he is, all the feelings I have for him come flooding back in an instant.

Meanwhile, Max is amazed at the change in me. I’m not the little girl he once knew.  He can’t keep his eyes off me.

Knowing that my time with Max is limited before he leaves again, I’ve decided to find a way to make him stay . . . forever!

Wow.

Just wow.

This is easily one of the worst books I have ever read. I hate, really hate to bash books, but come on.

This one was cheese city. Super corn filled. WAY over the top. The main female character was level 5 clinger status, with what she did in this book. The main male character was a complete idiot. I felt like there was no development of the characters at all. Like nothing.

THEN, just when I was about to DNF this book at 45% (which I never do), I flipped the page and it was the epilogue. LOL I mean seriously?? 4 or 5 pages of an epilogue and then there as a preview of another of the author's books.

BUT get this. The preview of the other book, was longer than this book.

I feel bad for giving this rating, but what am I supposed to think here??

This book was painful....

I noticed the stepbrother theme is a hit with this author but this is the first one I've read. I don't think I'll delve into this genre or this author. Getting pregnant on purpose to trap someone into staying with you is disgusting. It's such a teenager thing to do and I can't believe this chick done it and everyone was just like... oh that's cool....
The brother, apparently was a marine or something but.... blah, he didn't pull that off well and the rest of it, the scene at the airport, it was all just way too much... I couldn't handle it, any of it...
The dialogue, the story line, the ending.... just no....not for me.

This was a quick read....I loved the story line, but the overall the book wasn't very good to me. Everything happened too fast for my taste, I like a little bit of lead up. I didn't expect Nikki and Max to hook up on day 1 of his return.....then the idea of her "trapping" him into staying was not what I wanted. Now if she'd accidentally gotten pregnant, that would have been different, but to trap him was wrong. Then their parents were entirely too comfortable and easy going about the entire situation.

DNF

There is no way I'm finishing this book!!!

My rating:

1 star because Max treated Nikki with zero respect as if she was a slut picked from a corner. 1 star because a heroine who doesn't respect herself is worthless.
Excuse my French but that's how I see things.

This just felt like it was too rushed and I didn’t really like the main male character.

A hot read.

Nikki couldn't help falling in love with her sexy charming step brother Max and when he comes home after a tour of duty she is determined to bag her man.

Nikki knows her mind and sets out to get Max to admits he wants and loves her. Max is tough yet honorable young man and is determined not to give into his love for Nikki because she is just too young.

Max gets tipsy one night and Nikki moves in for the kill......a kiss and more kissing and soon Max can no longer deny his feelings. Passion explodes leading them into hiding their relationship and a baby. Nikki keeps mum on the baby until Max is ready to ship out and her emotions get the best of her....showing her inmaturity she blurts it out! Shock holds the whole family in its grasp but changes will need to be made. A lot of adjustments need to take place in order for this new young family to stay together and grow that will show their maturity.

A nice sexy fast paced read that is gripping enough to keep you reading and short enough to be sweet. I liked the turn around in that woman chases the man and man tries to resist.

I had to give it an extra star just for the hotter than hell man on the cover.....yum!

Great romance story that is about Max who is coming home from a stint in the Marines. His step sister Nikki is so happy and excited that he is coming home. They have been sneaking around having a “relationship”. Nikki soon is tired of all the hiding that they have been doing and asks him when will they be able to come “out of the closet” so to speak. Max lets it be known this isn’t the time and anytime soon isn’t the time because he has a military career and its just starting because he has reenlisted to the Marines . Well, to Nikki, this isn’t acceptable. Nikki quit taking her BC pills and soon Max has to make a choice—the military or Nikki

What happens- will Max make the right choice and do they have a HEA? This was a good love story with a HUGE twist at the end of the story. It makes sense with how some things that were said in the story . Loved the MC and how they fought to be together .

My rating: 4.5 stars ****

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Max comes home from a stint with the Marines. His step sister, Nikki, can hardly wait for him to arrive.
One night together turns into weeks of sneaking around. Soon Nikki becomes too invested in this "relationship". She wants to know where they are headed. Max is more casual about their situation. He feels the time is not right for them to be together. He feels his military career is just beginning.
Nikki devises a plan to bring them closer. It doesn't go as planned and all hell breaks loose.
This is a great step-love story. Nikki is smart, strong and sexy. Max is a Marine. A sexy, hard bodied soldier and everything a girl like Nikki could want. They know what they are doing is wrong. Taboo. Off limits. But they can't seem to stay away from each other. This story has some twists and lots of STEAMY SEX. A GREAT READ !

I received this for my honest review. I really enjoyed reading this book, well I do enjoy everything this author writes as she has a way with all her books.
Max is in the military and he's coming home, while his step-sister nikki and her mum get to work preparing the party her nerves and feelings all start to get a bit much. Then he arrives surprised by how much she has grown up since he was last home. I won't do spoilers but their chemistry together while he is home turns to more, so Nikki decides on one way to keep Max home and not go back and it works whilst causing tension in the family.....you will have to read the book to find out what happens and the little twist at the end.....

DNF!

It's not often that I give a book 1 star but this book was just awful for me. The storyline although believable was so poorly written that I found myself not believing it at all.

I don't know what it is with some books these days but they are so rushed I find them such a turn off. I'm not a writer and I don't presume to know about writing but having said that, I know what I like and this I did not like.

Nikki and Max parents are married to each other. Nikki hasn't seen Max in years. When she sees him again she can't believe he's even hotter! They fall into a relationship but, know it's short lived. Only Nikki doesn't want that. She wants Max at home. She in a lack of idiocy doesn't take her birth control. Will one little pill change both of their future?

Sometimes we find love in the least expectant place, with someone who shouldn't mean what deep down inside we know they truly mean. Max, is Nicki's stepbrother who was returning home from the service. All to soon Max and Nicki find that there is an attraction between them. Once Max informs his family he is re-enlisting Nicki knows she can't let him go no matter what she has to do.

3*** because I've read a lot of Lauren Landish and I'm usually in love with her characters but I wasn't feeling these one at all. I was disappointed and skimmed through whole sections just to get to the end. Not my first choice for her.

Fun, Quick Read

I liked Max's character immensely
Nikki drove me a bit nuts as she needed to grow up but when she finally realized what she'd done I felt better
The story flowed & the chemistry between them was sizzling
I definitely recommend this book for a fun, quick read

I hate giving low ratings but I felt gracious with 2 stars. I couldn't believe Nikki trapped Max with a baby and thought it was okay. Who could actually do that and live without guilt? And Max just dropped his responsibilities to the military. They fell madly in love...HEA. Boom, done.

Quick read

The Homecoming story ends at about 48% which explains why the story lacked depth and felt rushed. Nikki told so many horrible lies that you'd think Max wouldn't forgive her. The best part of the book is the big surprise Max and Nikki learn about their parents.

Nice Story

I don't know why people think it's wrong to love and marry a step-sibling. It's not like they are biologically related. I mean, what happens if the children marry first, and then the parents marry? Oh well enough bandwagoning! Good story. I recommend it.

Waste of time for me

The concept of the storyline is as fine. I felt the characters were flat, storyline was rushed, nothing was fully developed. I just couldn't find myself caring about any part of this book.
