Is it possible to keep a life-changing secret from your family and friends when it is burning you alive from the inside out?

One week.

It didn’t seem possible that a person could change in one week yet after only seven days spent with the mysterious Frenchman in Los Cabos, Mexico, Giselle was moving to New York City a changed woman. Confident, sexy and in charge, Elle is ready to take on the challenges she knows await her when she reunites with her family and begins her career as an artist in earnest. If she is a little heartbroken at the prospect of never seeing the cool and dominating Sinclair again, she’s braced for it.

That is, until Sinclair shows up in her mother’s kitchen and Giselle discovers just who his ‘darling’ girlfriend really is.

This is the second book in The Evolution Of Sin series and should be read after The Affair

What a weak doormat of a heroine. Absolutely pathetic in the way she allowed herself to be treated and how she kept chasing him and allowing herself to be treated like shit.

In one breath the hero tells her that, yes, he did indeed fuck her sister the night before and then proceeds to ask her to go fishing with him. Are you kidding me? I cannot stand reading about a pathetic weak heroine with no self respect. The hero doesn’t even grovel on his hands and knees after everything he puts her through. She deserved to be treated like trash.

Grr why have I put myself through this?

I detest how elena is portrayed in this book in order to justify his infidelity. She's a bitch, she's cold and she doesn't satisfy him sexually so hey no wonder he went n cheated.

No fuck you. What a wimp, get out the relationship then!!!

I also detested elle in this book as she knew it was her sister and who the fuck does that to their sister esp when its hinted at her and elle's sexual abuse

Two despicable characters and nothing romantic about it other than two weak arsed liars who have no self respect.

I really don't like this trilogy so far. I'm done!!!!

Honestly so glad i didn't read this series first it would have put me off all her other books and that'd be a real shame.

The second part of this story wasn’t much better. I got pretty tired of how everybody who knew about the affair was giving free relationship advice to Giselle like it’s the most natural thing in the world to cheat on your partner.

Yes, Sinclair seems a lot happier now that he’s met Giselle but no that does not give him the right to crawl into her sister’s bed night after night while pining for her. All the “OMG you guys are soulmates!” comments all the time did not justify this in any way.

Well, on to see how they will resolve this shit show.

So, Giselle left Sinclair without saying goodbye, but now, since he is Elena's boyfriend, they met everywhere, and, of course, we all know what will happen, "the" how is why we have to read the book.
This story makes me have controversial feelings.
There's the betrayal thing, and I've loved Elena, but she makes it so easy not to like her in this trilogy, that I'm so Cage in, "go team Sinclair and Giselle".
And, of course, everyone sees that Giselle and Sinclair are made for each other.
description
They are real with each other, with Elena, Sinclair was too perfect, too controlled, too cold.
And, honestly, she's a real bitch in these book, even to Sebastian and Cosima.
I kinda hate her, actually, I hate what she does to Sebastian.
Giselle accepts Sinclair for what he is, with is flaws, she embraces the tastes.
description
Elena feels repulse to Sinclair tastes for BDSM, these two should never have been together, their relationship has so many fragilities, too much appearance and so few feelings.
They're not real, so, yeah, team Sinclair and Giselle, though I think Sinclair should have ended the things with Elena as soon he discovered she's Giselle sister.
My heart almost ache for them, we almost feel Sinclair's pain.
description
But also can feel Giselle dilemma, if she chooses Sinclair, she'll be hurting her sister and her family will be torn apart.
It's impossible to have the typical HEA for this story, someone will end up hurt, no matter they try not to.
This ends with a cliffhanger, when Elena shows up in the hotel where Sinclair is with Giselle.
Will Elena see her sister in his ex bed?

This was another fast read. And it was definitely better than the first part. I can’t deny I’m intrigued by the story and I desperately want to see how it ends. I will say again that this book desperately needs an editor, heck even a good beta could’ve spotted all these continuity problems and inconsistencies this story has. I’m very picky with my books, I just am, and I’m highly bothered by authors not being able to keep their story straight, and this one is a perfect example.

In this one, the heroine has some super complicated drama with her family moving from a small town in Italy and eventually emigrating to the USA. The hero is completely embedded with her family since small world and all, her holiday affair in Mexico happened to be with her sister’s boyfriend who is also her other sister’s best friend. But the author has problems keeping her story straight the entire two books. Like here:

The hero mentions in the first book that he’s 31.
The heroine says she’s 24.
The heroine’s twin siblings, girl and boy are 22.
The heroine specifically mentions that her sister left home for Milan at 17 in order to model. Soon after the brother left for the US, soon after the other twin, then the heroine moved to Paris, and soon after the mother and older sister to the US as well. That would make the heroine 19 and the hero 26 at the time.

In the second book the story completely changes:
“Willa signed her.” I recognized his adopted mother’s name and noted that he didn’t call her something affectionate like mom. “When she was nineteen. I was in Italy with Willa when she discovered her, standing in the rain wearing a long black dress. You couldn’t tell where her hair ended and the dress began. She looked like something from Dante’s Inferno.”

Cosima now gets signed to model at 19 and moves to New York after, and mind you she’s 22 and the family supposedly has been living in New York for 4-5 years. Little Sister Cosima has been friends with the hero for over 4-5 years and older sister Elena has been dating the hero for 4 years as well.

Confused? Me too.

Then this gem shows up. This is now the hero telling his story:

When I turned eighteen, I demanded to be allowed to go to college. I was smart and well mannered, the perfect young man in their eyes. I think they figured, why waste his potential? They already had Cage, the artistic prodigy and, to some extent, Cosima, who was the real talent in front of the camera and on the runway.

Wait, what? They couldn’t already have Cosima when he was 18 because they didn’t meet Cosima until she was 19 and Cosima is 9 years younger than the hero!!!!!

Since I already drove my point, for now I will choose to ignore how the older sister moved to the US only 4 years before, enrolled in law school, recently finished and is on a partnership track, LMFAO. Someone’s been watching too many episodes of Suits.

So, is it really, really hard to just keep your freaking story straight? This book could’ve been a solid 4-5 Star book if the author would’ve just taken the time to get her facts straight. Honestly I don’t know why we don’t demand more of our authors when it comes to these types of issues. It’s extremely frustrating.

Nothing admirable in a so called heroine who cheats with her sister’s long term boyfriend! I read this series years ago and I was disgusted by Giselle and I still am to this day. She is the OW and frankly her sister Elena had more class and dignity towards the end then homewrecking Giselle.

***FIVE STARS***
The first story The Affair was smoking hot and the sex was incredible, but I truly didn't feel the connection between Sinclair and Elle the way I wanted to. I definitely felt it in this one though. This had all the same smoking hot sex, with way more turbulent feelings and drama. This story was fabulous. Onto The Consequence.

I’m not enjoying this series at all, the only reason I continue is because I’m waiting for Elena (one of the only characters I like) to find out.

Giselle and Sinclair are like a knockoff Eva and Gideon but without the chemistry, or literally anything interesting between them. Also Giselle is bland and just a horrible person, she doesn’t try to stay away from him. She doesn’t try at all. And that just makes her a waste of space in my opinion. She is not good. Or moral. And even the small digs Elena makes simply makes me like her more because hey guess what she’s not sleeping with YOUR boyfriend she just doesn’t like your art or you and WITH GOOD REASON.

Giselle doesn’t have a backbone or stand up for herself. Doesn’t even stand up for her sister. Just melts into a useless pile of slush and lets things happen it’s infuriating.

Cannot be read as a standalone.

This book is super sexy! Now... if you hate stories about cheating, you probably won't enjoy this. If you love angst and forbidden romances, you'll probably love this!

Giselle and Sinclair fight a forbidden attraction. An attraction that can damage other bonds and promises made in the past.

Powerless and hungry, they fall into sin together.

I couldn't get enough of this story. I found the scenes absolutely delicious.

I'm diving into the next book!

Lol please Daniel proceeds to say how he treats Elena, MY absolute queen like a ‘goddess’, but then continues to love and cheat on her with her rivalled sister BYE.

Other then Giselle and Daniel having the same sex fetishes, where’s their connection? Right, because their isn’t one strong enough for Daniel to go dip his dick at the first sight of a seeing a beautiful girl on holiday, or for Giselle to continue betraying her sisters trust.
He is just a plain simple cheater.

And Cosima I love you. I need to rr her books ASAP.

Elena is my favorite character and it hurt me immensely to see her not to drag that cheating ba$tard and her bit¢h of a sister (pardon me for my crude language) by their hair. It especially was hurtful when everyone around her was being proud of their relationship and was exclaiming it as quote unquote "love". I'm a pretty salty person and I'm not into forgiveness bull$hit, especially in this case because it felt like @ssniel cheated on her because she was "less enthusiastic" in bed, not up his taste or smth like that. It's been nagging me since yesterday, I have debated with myself if I should actually leave this review- then I decided we don't romanticize cheating, no matter how much in love these people are in. Her family didn't make it any better tbh. It just promotes the narrative (or at least to me) that "it's ok to cheat if your partner is cold". Elena is the representation of a strong woman who faces every odds against her despite her circumstances and I am very sorry that she had to go through three books worth of clownery. That wimp of a fu¢ker could've broken up with her but NO- that'd ruin the kInK.

This review is by no means meant to hate the author, just the characters and it's even worse knowing that actual people like these exists and it happens pretty often too.

Wow! This book is scorching hot!
The Secret, by Giana Darling, is the second book in her "The Evolution Of Sin Trilogy".
After only seven days spent with a mysterious Frenchman in Mexico, Giselle moved to New York City a changed woman. Out of her shell, self-confident and sexy Elle is ready to begin her career as an artist and reunite with her family.
Saddened at the thought of not seeing her French lover again she was quite surprised when he shows up in her mother's kitchen and she discovers just who his 'darling' girlfriend really is.
The story ended with a cliff-hanger and I can hardly wait to get my hands on the next book.

Thank you to the author for providing an arc for an honest review.

The Secret (The Evolution Of Sin #2) is LIVE!

This chapter of Giselle and Sinclair's love story gets to the crux of my original inspiration for the series. It's not an 'easy' read. There is a sh*t ton of angst, moral dilemmas and heartbreak but in the end, I think love is all the stronger for the obstacles it has to face and overcome.

“A man, or a woman for that matter, must have passion or else they are a shell of themselves.”

The chemistry between these two is just sooo good that it makes me blind to anything that could be "questionable". Their passion towards each other, the magnetic pull that they face, and yet how they have to force themselves to be apart in this book because of family and society... It really made it an incredible story for me.

Then add on the snippets of vulnerability that we see from both Sinclair and Elle, the fears they face, the insecurities they try to overcome, and this story had me hooked.

And oh my God!! What is it with Giana Darling and the endings of these books!!!??
I will now have to immediately start the 3rd one because I HAVE TO KNOW!!!

“I love you so much that I’m clumsy with it. There are so many times when I stared at you and waited for some sort of poetry to form, words that were worthy of my love for you, the intense, nonsensical, filled to the brim way that I feel about you. I pride myself on being an elegant man. I wasn’t born that way but I was raised it, and when those words won’t come, others do. The crass, dirty and poor part of me emerges like a fucking animal and all I want to do is claim you, put my scent onto every inch of your gorgeous skin, scream like a psychopath at everyone who looks at you that you are mine.”

“No one has ever made me feel so safe and so inspired to push past my comfort zone. He was handsome and intelligent and just remote enough to make him seem mysterious.” I laughed at myself and shrugged. “So, obviously, I fell in love with him.”

I thought I experienced having my heartstrings pulled at enough with The Affair, but reading The Secret amplified my already erratic emotions tenfold. While the former almost romanticised the notion of having an affair, the latter depicts the harshness of living with immense guilt and the ramifications of one’s actions when reality rears its ugly head.

Overflowing with fierce angst and abundant in forbidden attraction, The Secret will fill you with equal parts apprehension and excitement. Being left with a bruised, aching heart wasn’t enough for Giana Darling—your emotions will be chaotic and your thoughts in neverending conflict while continuing this heartrending, sordid affair.

Art had always been the medium of my sublimity. My love for Sinclair was devastatingly similar, dangerous because it did not recognize right or wrong.

Despite my reservations on cheating, I couldn’t stop myself from feeling conflicting emotions—of wanting Giselle and Sinclair to pursue a relationship in lurid detail, even though it will destroy others happiness; but also wanting them to maintain a semblance of friendship in sacrifice of finding contentment together because it is ‘right’.

It is written so beautifully, their struggles, that it is near poetic. You can feel the inner turmoil they experience, sense that they are weighed down by misconduct and bound by expectations, though the inexplicable chemistry they have can’t be denied or ignored. GD handled the tangled mess of relationships and confronted morality with delicate poise and accurate portrayal, making me fall deeper in love with this narrative.

“This lifestyle is not always about pain and restraint,” he explained. “It is about worship.”

Both characters have immense character growth—specifically Sinclair, whose change is such a treat! Who knew a seeming detached, emotionally stunted businessman could possess so much dominance, romance and intrigue beneath the hardened surface? And Giselle continues to blossom into this wonderfully self-assured and sexually confident woman with so much grace and wonderment, despite the conundrum surrounding her, and she embraces this newfound woman with open arms.

Raw and emotionally captivating, The Evolution of Sin series leaves me bursting with anticipation and overflowing with emotions and continues to leave my heart aching and fracturing into tinier pieces. I'm in awe of this tragic, heartfelt series that is quickly shaping up to be a favourite.

Book Review For: The Secret by Giana Darling Note: Possible Spoiler.
'The Secret" by Giana Darling is book two in "The Evolution of Sin" Trilogy. This book continues the story of Giselle "Elle" and Sinclair "Daniel" after they both have returned from Mexico. This book picks up where the first book " The Affair" ended. So I think to get the full enjoyment of this series it would be better to read the first book too. With that said, I will say that Ms. Darling writes so well that you can make this a standalone book. I was so happy to get this book and catch up with Elle and Sinclair!
Elle has arrived back home from being away from her family for a few years. At her mother's the family is all there to welcome her back home. Elle has mixed feelings about being back because of why she left home and what all happened in Mexico with Sinclair. Elena is her older sister and they have had strained relationship for several years. But Elle is trying to move forward with her life and put things back together with her family and that included Elena. When Elena 'boyfriend' arrives we find a shocked Sinclair and Elle when they discover who the other one is. Elle can't believe that Sinclair is Elena live in boyfriend who Elena has been with for years. 'The Secret' is now started when they both agree to keep it between themselves that they had met in Mexico and had 'The Affair'. Can they keep "The Secret" or will their feelings for each other come forward? My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read."

Did that just happen?!?! *picks jaw off floor* I did not see that coming at all!!! A fellow reader told me I needed to read this series and I am so glad I listened to her. I literally could not put it down. This book was filled with so much angst and anticipation. And left me questioning my moral compass. LOL!!!!! Because I was so cheering for Sin and Elle. I can't wait to see how this all comes to an end.

I don't even know what to say. This book. These two characters. I am hooked. It's 3am and I have just finished this story. I have cried, raged, laughed and just about combusted. Sinclair is one of the hottest, most believable dominant characters I have read and I have a major crush. Talk about a complicated love story. Okay off to binge book 3. Sleep is for the weak.

Five not so secret stars for "The Secret" the second book in Giana Darling's ,Evolution of Sin series!

I am absolutely enthralled and in love with this series! I never thought I would find myself rooting for the cheating couple , but sure enough I found myself doing just that more and more intensely as the story unravelled.
Elle ( Giselle ) Moore met Daniel Sinclair on the way to Cabo San Lucas. And chose to have a holiday affair with him, so thing so far out of her norm to be scandelous ,but it brought out a different mor confident Elle then she ever was; that one week with Sin wa life changing, but how do you say goodbye to someone you fell in love with, you have no choice he is involved, he'll to keep it smiley ou did not even exchange real names or full at the least, she is Elle and he is Sin. So Elle sneaks out after their last night together and heads for New York and her reunion with her Family. But who would expect the very man you left in bed this morning to be at her family reunion party; and even worse On the arm of his darling Girfreind !
Elle's holiday affair has just turned into an all out secret, one that these two will have to suffer through. Elle had no idea Sin was so closely involved and Sin never thought a vivacious curvy redhead that Elle is use to be a scrawny brunette!
karma truly is a bitch when it comes to these two!
This book was such an incredible read, SIn's freinds from Cabo make re-appearances , along with the wicked secretary Margot , let's just say I hate her! Well o hate his darling Girlfreind too!
Ms darling however has created incredible characters in this book, Elle and The very sexy Sin along with Cage, Candy, Santiago and Elle's twin sibLungs Cosina and Sebastion. I want more of them all.
Ms Darling has blended angst, romance, Bdsm and some intrigue beautifully ; leaving me wanting more and wishing for September!

Put a fork in me, I’m DONE!

Let’s uhhh start by saying that I’m currently still swimming from the aftermath of this book, The Secret. What a secret it is!

I wasn’t sure how this was going to play out originally. I did figure out that Darling was Elena from the very beginning. That didn’t bother me, I found some comfort knowing where this was headed. What I wasn’t prepared was for all this rawness.

Their chemistry just seems to bloom more, page by page. It’s electrifying. It’s blinding. It’s beautiful. Granted in reality this affair and secret is a no no. But what makes this is so delicious is knowing it’s fiction and in my mind I can be a glutton. A glutton to all this passion, a glutton to all this pain. Double meaning there, folks!

I don’t get into BDSM style books much, they really don’t do it for me. Some have great stories and passion behind them, I won’t discredit that. Maybe because after Mr. Grey, everyone and their mommas wanted to be spanked and tied up.. I don’t like trends or follow them. So that might of been a my little rebellion against Don/Sub themes. But what miss Giana Darling did here was amazing.

She did not downplay the importance of trust, she didn’t disregard the effect this could have. She perfectly showcased that it’s okay to let your sexuality roam and find itself. That to me made me enjoy this book so much. It was a freeing experience for Elle, I felt it! It was truly magical to see her personality and sexuality peak.

Nice cliffy Giana! Hook, line and sinker! Well I’m not sleeping tonight. On to the next one!
