This book is arm chair gripping!

Jaycee McGinty has a hard time moving on in her life after the loss of her Grandpa. Her family is all worried about her.

She meets the too-good-too be true Rocky Jennings. You just know as soon has we meet him that that something is just 'off'.

It doesn't take long for his evil side to emerge. Jaycee attempts to move on in her life with very attractive Max but Rocky won't let her go. She's not only fighting for her own life but for her family's also.

This book is extremely well written. My emotions were all over the place. Having survived a past abusive relationship I was right there with Jaycee begging for the abuse to stop and for her to find a way to fight and survive.

I felt like I was right there in the book watching everything happening around me. I knew the instant we meet Rocky's Mom that she's also abused and his dad is just pure evil.

The very end of the book has you thinking that Jaycee if finally free.....then comes the epilogue. What a cliffhanger....is he alive or isn't he.....

On to book 2 because I can't handle the suspense!

Texas Hill Country. Jaycee McGinty (25+, narrator, sister, aka Sissy) lives with Stone McGinty (dad, Army vet, construction co.), Violet McGinty (stepmom), Jesse McGinty (30, brother, military), Nash McGinty (25+, brother, fireman/EMT), Abigail McGinty (25+, sister, Sr., college), Jake McGinty (31, brother, military), & Chase McGinty (25+, Violet’s son, adopted stepbrother, construction).
Grandpa Colton “Colt” McGinty & Grandma Lila McGinty live with them also.
Uncle Brock (insurance agent, real estate, Paige’s husband), Aunt Paige (Brock’s wife), Uncle Duke (PhD, Professor, agriculture, Savannah’s husband), Aunt Savannah (Duke’s wife) & Bradley (Brock/Savannah’s son, cousin, gay) are the other members of the family.

Weekend family fun at the lake cabin. Grandpa McGinty was having serious medical issues.
San Antonio ER/ICU. Dr. Jackson had no good news to tell the family about Grandpa Colton “Colt” J. McGinty.
He had internal bleeding & was hemorrhaging from the accident. Something worse he also had terminal cancer. Diagnosis; 6 months to live at the most.

2 months of radiation treatment & Grandpa could not endure anymore.
Lex (Grandpa’s cousin, Funeral home owner/director) had the service for Grandpa McGinty (Freemason, Shriner, Church men’s group, retired USAF Vietnam vet).
Yrs. Later Jaycee meets Rocky Jennings (retired USN, PT car/truck mechanic).
The 2 soon become a couple. Safe sex the 1st. time, loss of virginity.
But then Jaycee (cashier, Dan’s Grocer) hears Rocky on the phone with Kelly. Not good.
Rocky tries to explain his situation to Jaycee about Kelly Price.
Uncle Brock & Aunt Paige are going to adopt a son.

Why was Jaycee in Ft. Sam Houston?
& what about Daniel “Rocky” Jennings?
Who is Sergeant Maxwell “Blue” Bradshaw (Maximillian, Max, PT, Ft. Sam Houston)?

I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review, only an honest one. All thoughts & opinions are entirely my own.

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A fairly well written romantic horror book. It wasn’t always very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish, but never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great family romantic horror movie, or a mini TV series. Just when you think the story was over!? It was just OK for me but I still liked it so I will still rate it at 5 stars.

Amazing read!

Holy crap! This book had me mesmerized. The story is great and fulfilling and creepy. Romance and some sex scenes may offend some readers. I almost skipped the epilogue as the story seemed to have ended, but glad I didn't. Good lord! I won't sleep well tonight. Brilliant job! But I have to ask...did it end like I thought it did? Aargh! So glad I read it.

This book is amazing! I know the author personally and as I read this I was able to see her. The story of Jaycee is a mirror for the authors life as a young child/adult and I couldn't be more proud of her.

Blue is the color of love

This is the first book in the series and it explains so much. I got a book further in the series and started there. Not a good idea. I feel this series should be read in order. This book is about Jaycee. She is the oldest daughter in the family. She meets Rocky in a bar and they have an instant attraction. He seems like a good guy but looks are not always what they seem. Jaycee find out the hard way.

“Not everyone's story is pretty but they're all beautiful in their own way.”

Here is just a scrumptious sample of the story:

“Uncle Brock and Aunt Paige were high school sweethearts and seem to be more in love with each other every day. They’re beautiful to look at. Uncle Brock is the youngest of his brothers and the quietest, but seems to say the most when he does talk. He’s an insurance agent and does real estate on the side. He’s got dark brown shaggy hair and wears a constant five o’clock shadow. My aunt Paige is fun-loving with cool fashion style. She has an exotic look and she’s hilarious to be around, but has a shy side. She loves to laugh and be loud and you can always catch my uncle Brock smiling lovingly at her. Despite his quiet ways, he loves her loud. I’ve always watched them, hoping to find their kind of love with the strong, unbreakable bond.” (Kindle Locations 209-214). Mascot Books. Kindle Edition.

This is my first novel by Donalyn Maurer and I was very Mesmerized!

This is not your typical contemporary coming of age romance style novel – No Siree!

The pace was full of suspense and mystery; intrigue that was embroidered together with humorous scenes of familial love as well as romantic love. Each character possessed specific personality traits that were exponentially expounded upon as the story progressed.

I was so enraptured and invested in the McGinty’s saga - which I actually sat on my comfy sectional and read non-stop until I finished this novel! My i-Pad even ran out of juice!

Now, Beautiful Bookworm – I do not believe in revealing ANY spoilers in my book reviews – I want you to enjoy the ride, delve deep into the story, and lose yourself – This is my wish for you!

I received a free copy from the publisher and voluntarily reviewed this book.

Even though I'm writing this on the first book this review is for the series as it exists currently, which is 6 books.

The McGinty family. They are loud, they are in each other's business, they conform a little too much to gender stereotypes for my personal taste (it is Texas, after all), but they love and support each other no matter what. The books focus on various siblings (of which there are 6). They are essentially romances, but there are elements of suspense as well. Parts of this book and the series as a whole are based on things that have happened in Donalyn's life and in the lives of some of her family. In the 4th book in the series she writes about PTSD and ways that people who want to can help people who are living with it. She wants others to know that they aren't alone in their struggles and to seek help when things get bad. I enjoyed getting to know this family as they navigated through the many events that came their way. I also enjoyed the way Donalyn is able to tell her story, and her family's story, in a way that may be helpful to others who have gone through similar experiences. There are some editing and grammatical issues in the series so there is a factor to be aware of if that is something that bothers you while reading.

This is the first book in this series. This is a new author writer to me and i absolutely love her writing. This one is about Max and Jaycee. The beginning of this book is heart wrenching but that is exactly what pulls you into this book and has you holding on to see what is going to happen. I absolutely love the McGinty family. I love how they get along so well with each other and care so much about each other no matter what is going on with them. Jaycee suffers through something tragic after some time she finally decides to get out with her family. She meets someone and that is where this storyline really gets interesting. There is plenty of suspense and twists and turns with this storyline. But throughout what is going on with her she finds her high school crush is there to take care of her. I absolutely love Max. Max is someone you can easily fall in love with. I absolutely love his character and how he easily wants to take care of Jaycee. This was a very interesting story that i want more from. I absolutely love all the characters and how they all have great chemistry.Great storyline. Amazing writer. I cant wait to read more from this writer.

Jaycee McGinty has been drowning the year after her beloved grandpa died, when she meets Rocky Jennings. And she believes that he's the person who could be the one to bring her back to life, only she finds herself in a new nightmare. That's all that I'm giving away, as Falling Into Blue is a book that is full of twists & turns that I never saw coming. Like the kind of twists that left me only the ability to drop f-bombs twists. Which means, this review is a very challenging type of review because spoiler douchery is something that I don't believe in, not even by accident. When setting up the storyline, I got to know Jaycee & the McGinty family, who are fantastic characters that I fell in love with instantly, as they are hilarious, & kept me laughing a lot! Anyway, this is the first book that I've read by Donalyn Maurer, I find that her talented writing style is very original, that I'm instantly addicted to. And I'm so very grateful that I have the majority of this series on my kindle at once, or this review may be full of name calling since it ended with a cliffy! So in conclusion, I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

As the title states this book may cause triggers in some as it deals with subject matter of abuse and rape.
Jaycee is from a big loving family, with protective brothers and uncles and grandparents.

So after a year trying to recover from her grandpa’s passing she’s talked into an evening out with her family for dinner and dancing, where she meets a handsome man named Rocky.
Upon meeting Rocky he’s charming and charismatic but soon things begin to change and he’s not who he’s perceived to be.
He turns violent and does unspeakable things to Jaycee.

Afraid for her family at first she keeps things to herself but when she’s admitted to the hospital because of injuries incurred by Rocky she has to come clean and this is where she meets the man who’s going to be her savior.
This author is new to me and I’m happy to say she’s got a reader for life, she had me crying from the first turn of the page and on pins and needles throughout the entire book 📚.
