A growing Empire...
The end of the Sowir Dominion draws near as the Empire resumes its offensive. The retaking of Guxcacal home-world begins, as the Empire's fleets invade the remaining Sowir territory. But the Sowir still have surprises up their sleeves.
Adrian Farkas awakens new abilities, buried deep inside the human genetic code by their ancestor Axull Darr. And with them the Empire gains all the knowledge contained inside the device left by their ancestor, the sum knowledge of the People, the first intelligent race in the universe and the ancestors of Humanity and the Nel. Adrian struggles to learn how to use his new abilities, even as he commands the invasion against the Sowir. But Sowir are not the only thing that threatens the Empire, new dangers lurk just outside of its now growing territory. And the Empire will need everything it has in order to survive.

Great series!
The widening of the sphere of knowledge for these books is great. I love how each book adds more knowledge about the book’s universe.

The Earthlings close in on the Alien Scum that destroyed Earth, unaware there is a bigger menace stomping them from the other direction. The Empire continue to punch above their weight with nifty footwork but 400 pound gorillas don't need footwork to take your bananas.

Like two books rolled into one (Spoiler-free review)
This book ties up one storyline nicely while cracking another wide open, and drastically expands the scope of the universe I which these stories occur. However, neither of these plots will probably make much sense unless you've read the previous books in the series. Like the previous books (before they were professionally re-edited, that is), this one had a number of typographical and word errors, but far fewer than I remember in previous books (pre-re-edit). While the detail-oriented part of me insists that even one such error is too many, and I noticed perhaps 12-15 such errors throughout this book, the science fiction fan in me overrules that concern because he finds this to be one of the most interesting and compelling military/empire/expansion science fiction novel series currently ongoing. It has a constantly expanding universe and ever-changing landscape. This book expands on on the new plot development hinted at in the end of (I think) the previous book, and introduces several new players and races, while hinting at more to come. Once again, this story ends if a not-quite-cliff-hanger (more of a cliff-teaser) that is enough to make me wish the next book was out right now.

Wow, they talk about how Stairway to Heaven and Freebird are great songs because they are climbing songs, they keep building as they progress and that is exactly what this one does. Add to that a great value. Most of the books in this series have been 200 to 230 pages and this one weighs in a pleasently plump 300. Lots of action, great pacing, intrigue. Oddly enough having read some of his other books
has me several of the easter eggs the author has devilishly sprinkled for us to find if we are looking. You know you have it bad for a series when you will get up half an hour early just to get in a chapter or two before heading out for work. BRAVO Ivan Kal and thanks.

This universe expansion in world building has been great. Another enjoyable read
You start with book one and you think you've read a really cool story that has a cool storyline. Then as you hit books two three and then four and now five that storyline morphs grows changes and advances character development progresses. Some major drama and heartfelt losses tagged along with the struggle to survive and the indomitable spirit of the human race. This was a fun read about to open the next book

Both the human and the enemy empire are too strong for their population and the time they had to develop. The plot about the remote controlled animals that build ships, work all the industry, fight and crew (and repair) the ships is moronic and does not work. Furthermore, the genocides committed are totally unnecessary, as this race doesn´t even need more space and only needs more ressources to kill others... *aargh*

Another great book in the series. If you are a fan of the Star Force series than you’ll love this. The plot lines of the series are very very similar with similar character, civilization, and technology development. Ngl it’s very suspicious how close the series are, but I’m not complaining bc it’s good

The author does an amazing job of weaving various story threads together, and this book focuses much more on my favorite character thus far. Awesome read.

SciFi Space Opera Stomps Along
"Inheritance, Rise of the Empire Book 5," stomps along, continuing a decent storyline, hampered by an "awkward" writing style, lifeless narratives, and incompetent editing.
The escaped remains of humanity, have formed a federation-style Empire, far from Earth. Technologies, genetics, psychic abilities, alliances with alien races, alliance with distant human genetic cousins, and combat with dangerous foes all continue. The Empire is exponentially expanding in all areas, in order to prevail against its known and unknown enemies.
It's an "ok" storyline, nothing special or new. The problem is with the writing: uninspired, stilted, needlessly repetitive, inane at times, number/percentage/size obsessed, and without any humanity. Much of this eBook, as with the prior ones, indicate a Germanic EU bureaucrat as author-soulless.
The eBook was fully read via Kindle Unlimited and is narrowly recommended.
