Rayne Dance By Mlyn Hurn Keeping her psychic powers hidden had come to mean living the life of a near-hermit for Rayne. That was not difficult since she lived in a small community and worked as a farmer. Life wasn't easy, especially with the drought, but Rayne suddenly had two new men in her life. Sean owned the farm next door, but was he just another rancher? Then the French foreigner enters her life. Suddenly, being psychic is fraught with sexual tension and danger. Her life could be forfeited if she trusted the wrong man. Wynd Temptress By Kathryn Anne Dubois As a descendant of the most malevolent and despotic psychic ruler in history, Jezermiah, a powerful psychic herself, wants nothing to do with her legacy and will do anything to keep her secret. But the ruling government has found her and sends sexy psychic cop, Adam, to make sure of her intentions. Jezermiah wants nothing to do with him, despite her powerful attraction to him. She is fearful that mating with a psychic as powerful as herself will create another monster like her great-grandfather. Adam, convinced they are destined for each other, will stop at nothing until he makes her his.
Kathryn Anne Dubois lives the demanding life of a mother of five, a wife of 30+ years, and a public school art teacher. What better reason to escape into the delicious fantasy world of writing romantica. Reviewer Lani Roberts of Affair de Coeur Magazine has this to say of Kathryn. “Kathryn Anne Dubois makes her debut…with such sexual intensity that the readers will definitely cry for more.” Kathryn was first published in 1999 with Virgin Publishing’s Black Lace Line whose publisher’s claim “only the most arousing fiction makes it into a Black Lace - erotica at the cutting edge written by women for women” and later with Red Sage’s Secrets and still writes for both publications. She is pleased to have joined the wonderful authors of Ellora’s Cave. Kathryn has been an active member of Romance Writers of America since 1998 and lives in the greater Philadelphia area.
This is the second story I read from this author, the first being Surrender of the Bound Hearts series, and compared with the first one this has a paranormal side. I didn't get the story at first because the beginning was somewhat in the middle, but everything was explained about psychics and some threat they pose.
The heroine Carmella, happens to be a descendant of those powerful psychics, the Tyre who became destructive because of the power he wields. She has these needs that Torren her lover couldn't satisfy, and with the help of Ryder, who's been watching her from afar, for a very long time now, they "control" her (literally and figuratively) in a way that she's not a danger to their...community (I don't know if that's the right term but it goes along the lines).
As usual, the sex scenes were hot, erotic, and if you want it you got it, satisfaction guaranteed. I liked the fast-paced story, in the short span of time the characters emotions were portrayed in the minutest detail - from Ryder's irritation after having extremely wild and hot sex with Carmella, because she's really a suspicious woman. I felt for her when she found out the truth, but in most relationships, the best part after a fight is the kiss and make up and that's what happened.
KA Dubois' Wynd Temptress , Myln Hurn's Rayne Dance, and Lora Leigh's Fyrebrand were all intriguing with its three possibly dangerous, psychic sisters; I'd like to see it as a series.
