Welcome back to craziest place on Earth, The ER. A 24/7 non stop medical roller coaster of thrills, pills, and nasty spills. We've got fights, bites, and flashing lights. Think you've heard it all? Think again. Get ready for the all the over the top stories I still don't believe and the patients that come with them.
Don't think you've heard everything heading into books like these, you haven't..
Sometimes I think, "will I be surprised at anything?" And not far in: ooh yup, that's a new one, wait a sec I gotta read that again and WTH are some of the things that go through my head.
There was one story especially when my jaw was hanging open mentally and I was very surprised and impressed with this particular patient.
Would recommend.. there are some gross things described in detail fyi, but it doesn't go on for too long (I read between my fingers haha).
This is a very entertaining and informative book. I appreciate knowing what the life of a busy ER nurse is like. I also learned how to be a better patient and hopefully not annoy any of the staff of a busy emergency department.
This book is straightforward and interesting enough to not want to put down. Therefore, it was a fairly quick read.
This nurse and all others like her deserve more money, more respect, and more kudos than all of us could ever possibly give them. In spite of the chuckles (that undoubtedly save their sanity some days) they keep coming back day after day.... As a person that's been there on the receiving end of the care of an ER...thank you all. <3
I have been an RN since 1964 and enjoyed your books. I liked your tales of helping to teach the realities of nursing to new grads, it does make all of the difference in adjusting to a new job. I would like to see a few more nursing situations in each book.
Fast pace, written with great honesty and frankness about the craziness faced by the nurses. Humorous and factual. Only criticism is its top short,I would have loved more.
I like Dani's writing. He's honest, entertaining, witty, and interesting. I read the book in a couple hours and I'm disappointed that I'm done already. Hope you read this, Dani, because I am waiting for another, longer edition.
Really well written and obviously true stories of life in ER (A&E in the UK). Thoroughly enjoyed and easy to read and follow. Definitely saved the best story for last.
This is another entertaining book of ER experiences from the nurse's point of view. Dani's candor and informal writing style make for a very interesting book.
This book truly is the OTHER part of the first Rants book. While his first one was incredibly funny with dashes of sobering thoughts and venting frustrations with our insane and inept health system, this follow-up is it's fuller story. We're shown a far more clear and deeper view into an ER nurse's experiences as well as a broader picture true of the human side of both patients and staff. Don't misunderstand though, Dan I still doesn't pull any punches on honesty or spare the humor, but this time around he's allowed us a more intimate pass into his world.
Absolutely enjoyed it, and encourage you to read it.
WARNING: If bad language or plain-speak discussion of bodily functions (or any other just plain, honest language) or dark humor bother you, please just skip this one so your scathing reviews don't mislead folks who could have a chance to enjoy this author. Oh, and yes, there are some editing snafus; the enjoyment value far outweighs their impact.
Dani is a born storyteller! (And I got validation that I'm a good patient!) He clearly loves his job, and as a retired cop, I can relate to the gallows humor. Like I said, I literally just busted up so much, I had tears. This, after lying down to read a "bit", the fun, (and sun), just vanished. For anyone who wants to hear the truth and get a great laugh, as well as insight, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!
This book about vignettes in an ER was ok. The stories were nothing special. The author had major problems with pronouns. In the same vignette, the patient identified as a female would have "he" and "she" used interchangeably. Also the author could have used a good editor, many misspelled or incorrect words.
