Adam Pratt and Noah Young's relationship is like a newborn deer—quivering, wobbly, and barely able to stand.
But, with a baby on the way, Noah aches for Adam, pining like only a pregnant omega can as he fusses over his so-called 'unrequited love'. The alpha is perfect... and perfectly oblivious. Right?
Luckily, their developing child sees fit to bring them closer together, whether they're ready or not.
4.5 Stars ~ Thank you to the authors for beginning this book right where the previous one ended. As I discovered in book one, this is a fabulous world and I still have much to learn about the characters and their backgrounds, primarily Noah. When I last saw them, Noah had escaped his apartment after his sister tracked him down with the intention of returning him home to their parents, the place Noah had left to get away from. Noah had run to Adam as he had nowhere else to go, and the decision was made for Adam and Noah to return to his pack, tell everyone they're mates even though they aren't, and stay at the omega commune which is essentially where pack members choose to live who don't want to live in the city.
"But Adam's a sticky web of genuine affection and honest stupidity and maybe it's the pregnancy or perhaps it's just Noah's inexperience but the omega can't help but be affected by it. He has no barriers for a person spilling love onto him, whatever form it takes."
Noah is completely overwhelmed being with Adam's pack for they are nothing like the pack he grew up in. These people are so friendly and kind, the children are all running around, happy and joyous. Noah has to agree that it's a wonderful place to raise a child. As the mommy part of the equation (and in this world that's what the male omegas are called) Noah's hormones get the best of him many times, much to his embarrassment. The more of Noah's thoughts about his own childhood that I am privy to, the more I understand why he left and refuses to go back.
Noah is encouraged to join the commune's pregnancy group and he's so out of his element it's not even funny. He's not used to people being kind and nice to him. He's not been sleeping and he hurts all over, but he can't bring up the courage to ask if this is normal. Well, never fear, the alpha's mate takes him in hand and he finally blurts out how he's feeling. Much to his surprise this is normal and sex with Adam will fix the problems. Noah doesn't dare bring this up to Adam. He already feels like a giant burden to the man. I almost spit water out of my nose when the alpha mentions it to Adam while he's chopping wood one day and Adam's reaction is priceless. There are some communication issues that need to be worked through. Obviously.
"C'mon, you really think I don't think about you like that? Naked? Frequently? I mean, I know I've been pretty tame the last couple months but I didn't want you to think I was some huge creep. Of course I'm attracted to you—how could I not be?" Noah's just staring."
That sex scene was, by far, one of the most awkward, embarrassing, totally freaking hot, loving, and just plain perfect I have ever read. It just did it for me. I can't lie. And oh how it did it for Noah and Adam. It changed things inside them both.
Just as stunning as book one. In fact, I think this one was even better. Loved it!
Could these two get any more cute? Adam the sort of bull in a china shop Alpha and Noah the reluctant Omega are hilarious in this second installment. The other wolves contribute to the overall fun of this story as well. Evan is a hoot! I hope we get more of him going forward, because his complete lack of guile and blunt talk is just what is needed by Adam and Noah. I'm on to the next.
Nice follow up! I liked this one a biiit less than the first one, basically because this was more about MC1's feelings, which is totally alright, but I would have liked a bit more of build up towards the discovry of their feelings and to know about MC2's side as well. Besides that, it was still cute and easy to read. Going onto the last one next!
In this second story Noah and Adam move back to Noah's pack (the omega commune that was referenced in the first book) and begin settling in. While Noah's past is an open book to us, we get only hints here and there about Noah's past and his packless status. The two are moving closer together emotionally and, for the first time, physically. Their union is explosive and the author really captures their passion. This is a story where each man thinks the other doesn't feel as deeply as he does, but it seems like each of them is only falling harder. I can't wait to see where we go from here.
Is this a far star book in terms of great literary books? No. I gave it 5 stars because, I picked up the first book to get a steamy, short, easy, fluff book. Instead, I got totally swept in by the characters, setting, romance, and mystery. When it ended I was upset... I have to wait! That made it a 5 star.... simply for getting that much from me, that quickly.
Yum, these two are delicious together. Oh, if characters would only talk to each other instead of angst by themselves haha. But overall this was a nice continuation of the first book.
The story itself is cute, but writing is awful (or it's editing?). It's af if the story not shown to me but retold to me while majority of details are glossed over.
