Still grieving decade old losses and feeling the weight of new losses, Christine felt like everything was slipping away from her – her home, her health, her family. Upon a freak Facebook encounter with her younger self, she’s presented with a second chance. Has Christine finally lost her mind? Or has she been gifted with a rare opportunity to change the course of her life? And if this gift is real, can Christine convince her younger self to believe her and to heed her warnings?
What about the butterfly effect? Will Christine's modifications result in some universal impact? Should she try to stop tragedy for all involved or should she be more careful, and instead just focus on protecting her family?
A new twist on the time travel genre, The Status Update is the movie Frequency meets the movie The Lake House meets the digital age.
If you could talk to yourself as you were 10 years ago-would you listen to your own advice? That's the gist of this story. I liked the idea of the main character being able to connect through Facebook with her younger self and warn her of the signs of oncoming rheumatoid arthritis and also of a community tragedy that she has the power to change.
Loved it!!!!! Couldn't put it down until I finished it. Can't wait for author's next book! Really makes you think what would happen if you could change things from your past.
I was hooked from the first chapter. Fun that it's set in my hometown, with locations in familiar with. Twists until the very end! Set at holiday times, so fun to read right now.
I heard about this through a rheumatoid arthritis support group, and while it was nice to see a character with RA, ultimately I was disappointed. The story is kind of interesting, but the writing wasn't great. Part of it takes place in the future, and it didn't seem very well thought out. The RA part was the most disappointing, with a plug for an extremely expensive biologic (not "biological") brand-name medication, and not much specific information that could have educated readers. Easy, short read though.
