I am a writer, illustrator, graphic designer and a mom. I've lived in various places across the country but currently my heart is in the Bay Area. I have two sweet children, two dogs and a mini-cactus named spike. In my free time (ha ha ha), I like to read books, jog slowly, cook badly and sleep rarely.

Crazy, Wonderful Science by Mary Lee is a part of a children's series intent on empowering young girl's science and imagination skills. Mia is a small girl with a big imagination. She has a science fair coming up and simply can't decide what project to do. Should she make a rainbow, a wacky gadget, a volcano or the universe? So many options, which will will choose?

Crazy, Wonderful Science is a sweet and charmingly illustrated book. Mia's imagination is running wild with all of the possibilities available to her- and this is perfectly captured in the illustrations. I think boys and girls alike can see the excitement she has about science, and I feel like that enthusiasm will be contagious. I expect some young readers will be inspired to attempt the experiments on their own, which thanks to the instructions at the end of the book they can do. I also liked the little quiz at the end of the book so that young scientists can test their knowledge. I just might need to explore the rest of this series with my own little scientists.

This is a crazy wonderful book children will enjoy. There are science projects in the back like a rainbow jar. I recommend this for being a Mia book and for the fun science experiments.
Mia is upset she needs to do a science experiments for school and she doesn't know what to do. I could make a jar of rainbows or make a volcano explode or create a universe. If I was a real scientist I could create amazing gadgets and fanatical inventions. What will she do for school? You get to read/listen and discover the wonder.

Cute!

Great story. My only problem is with the digital copy of this book. It wouldn't rotate into landscape view so the illustrations are cut in half and every other page didn't have any words.

I recommend strongly for every children and parents.

This is the 3rd book of Mia series.

I also have 1st & 2nd. But I have a little regret to buy those in Kindle version, since I'm living in Japan and it's difficult to get the paperback. But I should buy these fantastic books in paperback if it takes a long time for shipping and a little more expensive.

Because these are the books of so fun to turn pages that you can't help surprise when you see next pages. You will find more fantastic images than you expected.

If you are parents having little children, you can understand those images are just same as what they have and they like to enjoy these images so much. Children are attracted by that kind of imagination leaping to another world from reality. It will occur on the turning each pages.

And if you have finished growing up children, these books remind you how fun to live with little children were. How freely their imagination leaped from reality, and we enjoyed that.

In addition to saying, if you have had no children and no plan to have, You will be reminded of these books that you (and all of us) were once children like Mia, and have the imagination to leaping from real freely. We could live our life with more fun if we were children like Mia.

So these Mia books are not only for little children and their parents, but also for adults without children.

This 3rd book of Mia series has a theme about science. In this book you can find some fantastic and enjoyable experiments of science. Those shows you (and your children) essential of science and make children interest in. And more, some questions about the story are at the end of books. That is nice for little children to read the book again and deeply understand it. Those are some value of this book.

But the most valuable aspect of this book is telling us science is not hard, and it is one of the means to get free imagination. This is the most important idea what children learning about science.

Science make your imagination more free.

This is a message of this book.

And all of Mia books telling us the same kind of message. To learn Ballet makes you free. To imagine yourself as another person like pirates or princesses is free. What is important in life is having an idea of free, whether you are children or adults.

What I love about Mia series is how represent this idea in visual. Very cute characters and charming colors you can find all pages. It is a visualized idea of freedom.

These Mia books are not only typical representatives of books for children, but also those will tell you that you have had freedom in your childhood. It was not lost yet. I'm really good to have a chance to read these books. And I wish you too.

My little girl (6 years old) and I settled down before bedtime to read Mary Lee's newest addition 'Crazy, Wonderful, Science'. Whilst Mia, the main character seems sufficiently girly - there is also that element of uniqueness in her lab coat and goggles. This appealed to my little girl who immediately referred to her own science experiences.

As we voyaged through the pages, I read the parts of Mum, and my little girl of Mia. This worked well for us. We enjoyed learning about her different experiments and before even getting to the final pages, where instructions are given on how to complete your very own experiments, my little girl was eager to see if we could try some ourselves.

We particularly enjoyed the quiz where, as all little girls, like to show off their knowledge - and as Mum I get the confirmation that she has understood what we read.

I think my only critique of this book is that the wording in parts was somewhat more mature that my six year old could handle. Of course, I was on hand to help out, but as a fiercely independent reader there were a few words which she struggled with. Although it does have to be said that in no way did the advertisement of this book state it was aimed at a specific reading age range.

Now we're off to buy all of the ingredients to make our very own rainbow jar :-)

Crazy, Wonderful Science (A Mia Book Book 4) mary Lee (Author)
Colorful children's book about a girl who needs to do a science project for school. Her mother encourages her as they think of possibilities.
The end has the recipes to do the projects along with sideline hints as to its success. Love rainbow bowl and plan to do that one with our grandson soon.
Quizzes at the end to see if you were paying attention to the story. Other works by the author are highlighted at the end.
What I like about this is that the projects can be done with help from an adult by a boy or girl. Give your young one courage to just tackle it.

I received this ebook for free and in return to do an honest review.

"Crazy Wonderful Science is a cute children's book that is a quick read for children who are not sure what to do about their science experiment. Mia struggles with what she should pick for her science experiment, and goes through her possibility .

The illustrations were a big hit for my three year old. The story is quick , comes with a fun quiz, and breaks down how to create the science experiments mention in the book.

I would recommend this book to the ages of 2 to 7 .

I love books that can be used to start a lesson for a class and Crazy, Wonderful Science is a perfect book for a teacher to use to introduce a science lesson. It gives simple instructions at the end of the story about Mia and a homework assignment to make a science project. She talks about each project and then has to choose one for her homework assignment. This could lead to giving the class the same assignment to do at home and come to school to present. The book also includes discussion questions to use in a lesson plan to make the teacher's planning easier.
