Elian Thompson is a young orderly entrusted with caring for patients in a long-term coma ward. He is a kind and gentle soul who lavishes loving attention on those the rest of the world has forgotten. His life is quite boring until one night, he unwittingly brings someone home with him... A someone that he cannot see or hear. At first, poor young Elian thinks he is going mad, but he slowly realizes that the man haunting him is quite real, and that his intentions towards Elian are not entirely innocent.

Billionaire businessman Mason Cartwright’s body is in a coma. His soul on the other hand, well, that’s another matter. Trapped between the living and the dead, his spirit can roam the earth freely. He falls in love with Elian and slowly becomes obsessed with him- obsessed with protecting him, but also with possessing him, completely.

Will Elian ever find out the truth about the ‘ghost’ that is haunting him? Will Mason ever escape from his hellish limbo? Will these two star-crossed lovers ever get to be together?

Read on to find out! This erotic story by Amelita Rae will titillate the senses and remind you of the power of love to make the impossible; possible.

She now spends most of her time writing filthy smut that she tries to frame with farfetched plots and deranged characters, but don't be fooled by her bullshit people, its all just smut.

He talked to each and every patient like they could hear him. He told them about the news and all the things going on in the world, the weather and the most recent knock-knock jokes he had heard.

This story is a mix of quite a few elements.
Yaoi/pnr
Caretaker
BFFs
A ghost
Virginal firsts
Jealous/possessive lover
Brilliant musicianship
The best and sweetest HEA

There was an unbreakable bond between them that had somehow crossed over even into the realm of the supernatural.

So I won't beat around the bush, Mason absolutely rapes Eli the first time they are together. No question. Why this doesn't effect my rating is because that kind of ridiculous, overbearing, bordering-on-sociopathic dominance is what I except from this author and genre. If that scene had been in a 'normal' romance novel I would have been horrified. My point is no one should read these books to take them seriously! But triggers would probably be useful.

Anyway, this book ended up being a great Halloween book, with the whole ghost thing. Everyone and everything is as you expect from Rae, the overdone bad-guys, innocent slutty virgin and very hot yet slightly disturbing sex.

I had lots of fun! Thanks Josy for pointing out this freebie

Am I a pervert myself for admitting that I absolutely love perverted, jealous, horny Ghost bastard Mason? 😂

I absolutely love the way how the characteristics of the MCs were built. The physical features of Miss Rae's MCs may be repetitive but the traits of his MCs never are. I love how Eli was very kind, sweet and giving to his patients, friends and everyone around him. I like the initiation of how Mason started to able to act things physically while he's trapped in limbo. It was realistic and romantic. Everyone wants to protect our loved ones and it's only logical that Mason tried to fend off Eli when he was mugged. I like the way how Mason began head over heels with Eli even before he has seen him.

I even loved the not very consensual devirginization of Eli. The sex was very hot and lusty. The storyline was delicious too. And I love about the ending since it was a satisfying HEA. I just wish to get a bit longer epilogue.

I loved the idea of this story, the execution didn't quite suck me in the way her stories usually do. I'm not sure if it was that the 'hulking possessive obsessive Adonis rapes/loves the beautiful shy kind wonderful virginal blonde bottom boy' trope got a little repetitive. Or if I just wasn't feeling their connection the way I usually do in Ms. Rae's stories. Even the sex (which is usually smoking) just didn't do much for me. Maybe it was just a matter of wrong time, wrong place. Or maybe this is one of her earlier works and she's gotten better.

There were also several instances of long, detailed, and unnecessary medical explanations. Often for things that weren't even relevant to the plot. Then some of the other medical stuff that was relevant to the plot, like rate of muscle atrophy and how long it takes to regain strength, was way off. I also got distracted by one "orderly", not registered nurse, being solely responsible for what seemed like over a dozed comatose patients, including all their skin care and medication needs in addition to mopping the floor? And it seemed like when he went home to sleep no one took over for him. Weird. I know that's not the point of the story, but it seemed to be trying very hard to be medically accurate.

I really liked this one. It was so sweet. But I must warn you. If you're fine with dub/con or non/con, it should be good.

The sex was hot even though it's little rapey sometimes. But there was one non/con sex scene. I'm not going to sugarcoat anything. Yes, it was a rape. Mason was basically raped Elian. Because he was so jealous, Elian was about to go to dinner with another man. But... We actually did learn something about Elian. Elian was always had fantasy about rough sex even though he's a virgin. After he was raped, he realized that he did enjoy it. And for Mason himself, he felt guilty about it. So, I let this slide. And then, Mason trying his best to woo Elian.

Seriously, after that 'horrific' moment, Mason became so sweet. I really liked him. I just wish we got more Elian and Mason when he 'woke up' literally. But we only got two chapters left when Mason 'woke up'. They're so cute and sweet I just can't get enough of them. Damn.

Warning : non/con

Well this one’s for re-reading. The goodness in Elian shines through in every page. Smutty as hell considering he was getting it on with Mason as a ghost. Unconventional but entertaining. Really liked it. This author hasn’t disappointed me yet, she always manages to bring the HEA.

There was some very interesting aspects to this story that I found quite enjoyable. Namely the character Elian. I found him charming and good to the core. He cared about those in his charge and went above and beyond to make sure those patients, in comas, were comfortable and cared for. There aren’t enough people who truly do this without promises of recompense. He’s an orderly, but in this story he provides meds and things that in reality an orderly wouldn’t be allowed or expected to do. But I overlooked this.

The other main character, Mason Cartwright, is a patient brought into Elian’s care. Among the rest of Elian’s comatose patients, Mason stands out. He’s handsome, fit, and around Elian’s age. Elian is drawn to him.

Now, where the paranormal arc comes into play, is where Mason’s spiritual self is able to leave his body and spend time with the remarkable man caring for him. Mason is able to see the care Elian is providing and how wonderful a man he is. As time goes on, Mason falls for Elian. And, as Elian eventually comes to realize Mason is the entity he feels around him, Elian falls for Mason, too.

Cute.

Yet there were aspects of Mason I didn’t like and I didn’t care for Mason as a character. While one doesn’t have to like a character to enjoy a story, my dislike of him affected my feelings of the story.

The story was told by an omniscient narrator. There was a satisfying mystery present, but overall, my dislike of Mason prevailed.

If you have triggers for rape or sexual assault then do not read this story. Being tied down in your own bed, raped, and manhandled is not loving or sexy. This is also rough, painful sex. Then we get the scene where Mason is so large that Eli can see him poking around in his stomach--GROSS! I started off loving this story because of cheerful, innocent, giving Eli but I didn't like Mason from the beginning. I felt he was using Eli and causing him unnecessary stress and anxiety. There were times when Mason could have easily let Eli know who he really was. I finally stopped reading after the Mason pretty much violated Eli. Some people really like dub-con and non-con but that's not me. There is a sense of suspense and a bit of a mystery that readers may be intrigued by; I was too disturbed to continue caring. I have liked two other of Rae's stories but realize that she has some other disturbing ones. I just found one by mistake.

Anybody familiar with Amelita Rae's works should find that most sexual relations are dub-con or non-con, and though the rape scene was mildly disturbing, this was still a pretty good afternoon read for me.

The characters as usual were pretty well fleshed. And the atmospheric feel of her writing was present as well. The ghost and human relationship was quirky at its best and felt quite real. The suspenseful element though was obvious from the get go, but I would say that plot point was essential but not a huge part of what made this story work. What surprised me was that it had some humour to it and helped break up the seriousness.

Overall would recommend, though with a trigger warning.

Elian is an orderly on an ICU ward full of long term coma patients. He is a gentle, kind and loving human being that makes all of his patients feel seen. Mason, is a new patient that requires more attention. Elian plays music for Mason and speaks to him daily, and after playing ‘The Devil’s Trill,’ Mason no longer finds himself stuck in the darkness. He has Elian as a guiding light and quickly realizes he can’t lose him. Elian starts to feel haunted and no longer safe, but all Mason wants to do is reassure the sweet “boy” that he’s there watching over him.
There’s a bit of mystery and a whole lot of sweetness! A very cute read on what it means to find your soul mate in the dark.

Good edgier entertainment!

I first read the reviews for this book, then I checked where it was available and then purchased it from this digital bookstore. I thought that it could not have that much ‘taboo’ if it was available here. And I loved it, I love reading the work of writers who put the edgier human desires in a romance novel. They cater to an audience. ❤️

Good

I quite enjoyed this book, it was a lot sweeter then other books I've read by this author.

My only complaint was I wanted to know what other patients came out of comas, specifically the police officer whose wife still visited him every Sat.

This book contains a ghost (not sure if this is the right word because he's not dead yet?) rape/sex scene and I can't decide if I enjoyed reading it or not which is why it only gets 3 stars from me.

I’m a sucker for OTT paranormal romance, especially when it’s a “ghost” and human. So yeah, I loved this.

I loved this book!!! It's the most unusually romantic love story I've read in a while. There's places where you laugh and then you're crying, but not an emotional roller coaster. It's a must read book.

Amelita Rae writes an integrating story about a young man, Elian Thompson, who works alone as an orderly in the coma patient unit and his newest patient, Mason Cartwright, is the son of one of the world's wealthiest Corporation known. He's been assigned to have most of his duties taking care of Mason.

Amelita brings us into the world where Mason is trapped in his coma. It's interesting to me because I too had written a character who also was trapped in his coma world. It pleases me to know their very similar. Anyway, she gives us a detail image of what it's like.

Elian loves his job and takes it seriously and since has taken over the unit the patients have improved health wise, even Mr. Cartwright. Eli keeps a violin in his locker and many times after work he would bring it into the unit and play for the patients.

On a stormy day with lightening and thunder Eli was taking care of Mr. Cartwright when one of the unit doctors, Dr. Stevens, came in to check on the patient he gave him a injection of something Elian wasn't sure was from the medication cart.

Elian went about his duties and came back to Mr. Cartwright and he seemed to be getting worse not better after that injection. So even though he was still on duty he brought his violin into the unit and felt a pressing need to play "The Devil's Thrill".

The music was so intense that the dark space Mason was in started to bring him up into the light, not only did it do that, but also brought him into a out-of-body experience. He was standing, unseen by anyone, and discover what the gorgeous orderly looked like, but also saw his own body lying on the bed still.

I don't want to spoil the fun of reading about the two of them and how they fell in love, because it's too precious to give it away. Just know there's a lot of action that takes place and an unknown mystery that also gets solved along the way.

Honestly, I truly loved this story and it does have an HEA ending. Go for it and buy the book. You won't regret it.

This was a nice little story with many typical yaoi elements. The MCs are cute and small and big an powerful respectively, the smaller guy nearly gets raped twice and the villains are very villanous.

Elian is an orderly at the coma ward and Mason ends up there as a patient. The romance starts to develop, when the previously very selfish Mason ends up having a permanent kind of out-of.body experience and falls for the kind and beautiful Elian.

He stalks Elian until a near rape enables him to communicate with him and the two begin a strange relationship.

Amelita Rae writes her stories well, they are clearly yaoi rather than standard romance, so there are elements that would show in a different light was the genre different. But, if you like the blurred ethics and tropes of yaoi, this is a fast, lighthearted story.
