One last chance.

That’s all Luke Collins, local bad boy and motocross champion, has to not only find his redemption, but win back the girl he lost. He’ll stop at nothing to make her his, even if it means playing dirty.

Lara Jacobs doesn’t want her heart broken again and refuses to give Luke a second chance. After he left her after their one night stand, she ran right into the arms of her close friend, Grayson Moore. He’s always loved her, and he’s determined to make her see he’s what she needs.

However, in life nothing goes as planned and tragedy strikes. After a fatal accident nearly claims Lara’s life, she’s left inside a world she can’t remember. Her memories are gone, including those of the men vying for her heart. Grayson sees her loss as a possibility to forget her love for Luke, but Luke sees it as an opportunity to start over. All he wants is one last chance to show her that she’s the one he’s been in love with all along.

*** An updated version of One Taste has been included in Last Chance with all new scenes. I highly recommend reading it again. ***

Last Chances is the latest installment of the Second Chances series. Even though I haven't read much of the previous books I found it easy to catch on. I love this trope but a second chance romance is always complicated too. Yes that triangle, enter angst and drama. Still that premise made me intrigued.

In the prequel we got Luke and Lana's history. The Luke then ad boy, player and motor cross racer who messed up. Now Lara is the girl who got away, trying move forward as best she can. Luke wants her back unfortunately things are it's a not that simple with Grayson in the picture. Lara needs to choose between the safe and the one who makes her heart beat. Luke has his work cut out for him. I don't like picking sides and hurt parties when there's triangles involved but it was easier on me this time. Things aren't that simple though and other factors are at play.

Luke and Lana's journey is tumultuous and has it's fair share of drama. They are likable characters unfortunately feeling wise I didn't really connect feeling wise. I wonder if reading the other books would've helped with that in some way. The storyline is solid and well written, not boring at all. Overall I think it has all the elements for a good romance that many will enjoy. It has conflict, suspense, emotions, steam and a hot hero all the elements you'd look for.

“Sometimes love needs a second chance because it wasn’t ready the first time. It fails at first, but it only grows stronger and learns how to last a lifetime.” ~Unknown

What if your life was altered forever? What if you had a second chance? A chance to start fresh. A chance to right those wrongs. A chance to find happiness. Perhaps a last chance. Passionate and poignant, Last Chance by L.P. Dover is a tender tale of epic love that pulls at your heartstrings while stealing your soul in a scorching yet swoon-filled romance.

There is something special about second-chance love. Friendship that forms into something more. That slow burn of desire. The intimate knowledge of one another. Last Chance is that special second-chance love story laced with sweetness, sexiness, and swoon. A story that captivates and claims over and over again.

Motocross legend, Luke Collins, has crushed on his beautiful childhood friend, Lara Jacobs, since they were teens. The gorgeous guy with the blond hair, green eyes, and tall and muscular build has never thought he was good enough for the beautiful blonde and blue-eyed Lara.

"Luke Collins was all about getting pussy, twenty-four seven. And I hated the face I’d ever had a crush on him."

Luke was more the ‘bang-and-bolt’ guy. Lara does not want to want Luke but she does, and has for a long time.

“I’ll chase you down. You can’t outrun me, cupcake. I wouldn’t even try.”

Luke is sick of playing the field…sick of playing games. It’s time to finally claim the woman of his dreams, catch her and make her fall.

“What if I don’t want you?”
“Look me in the eyes and tell me you don’t?”

OH. MY. SIZZLE. Luke is all-alpha and it’s insanely intense where I nearly fanned myself. I loved Luke’s determination as much as his domineering talk that warms my body from head to toe. It’s too bad that Lara doesn’t want anything to do with Ladies’ Man, Luke.

“Or is this how you get all the ladies, but swinging your prize hog around?”
“Prize hog, huh? Like what you see, do you?”
“Jesus. Of course, that’s all you would hear.”
“Oh I heard everything. But it’s nice to know you noticed.”

OH. MY. SNORT-LAUGH. The banter between Luke and Lara enticed and entertained me; I could not get enough of their fireworks that could not help but go boom whenever they ignited.

“I won’t be satisfied until I’ve tasted every inch of you.”

Lara is falling into Luke Lust Land, under a spell of swoon and scorching heat that surrounds her…surrounds them. As if she do anything but surrender to this charm and the chemistry that combusts whenever they are near each other.

“My heart pounded so hard, I’m sure she could feel it.”

These words melt me into mush where this book is a blanket of warmth and love surrounding me. Luke has become a better man because of Lara, opening his heart to her where it remains hers.

“She makes me want to be a better person.”

Luke has crawled up into my heart, making me feel so much for this man who has already captivated me and claimed me.

Sometimes love is a collision course…a battlefield. The war for Lara has begun with another player suddenly in the race for her heart, which has been hit hard like a wreck. Luke needs to get back in the game and claim what is his and has been since they were childhood friends: Lara’s heart.

“My heart was broken and I felt shattered. I was lost.”

First love. First heartbreak. First sorrow. A love that never dies. Can the heart, once broken, trust again?

There is nothing as a nostalgic and sweet as a second-chance love story that calls to your heart, beckoning it, and flooding it with hope and happiness. Last Chance, a story of heartbreak and healing, spun my emotions around like a motocross race around the track, feels fighting to stay in the race.

My heart was hit with happiness mixed with some hurt. My soul soared and swooned. I was drunk on this feel-good second-chance romance that sizzled with sweetness and swoon yet bled a bit of angst. I lost myself in Last Chance as this spellbinding story grabbed me, wrapping itself around my heart, where I did not want to surface until the very end.

I m not happy, yes, the story lines.

I am not team Grayson, Luke either. I think both of them r victims, especially Grayson. He is a nice man, lost his brother and their dream, make it hard to achieve after the brother's dies, fall in love the woman didn't deserve his love, finally, when she left Grayson approached his edge that cost him much, not only losing the restaurant, the dream he share with his late brother, also his life. Yes, I do think Grayson is victim. do we really this kind of ending? To paint Grayson in black because Lara and Luke r the prime characters? Maybe we can give him much better ending, like, met another lady who deserves his love, or decided to spilt the restaurant in two, or anything Grayson deserves. He is nice to Summer and Lara in pervious book.

I don't like Lara, everything the men faced r her fault. She is so stubborn that not to listen, if she did, she would know that Luke didn't cheat. If she honest to herself, she will not in relation to Grayson, not treat him as a pet to kill her lonely time, or the tool to forget Luke. Even accept the proposal.

I don't enjoy the lines, not happy about the ending, it can do it much better, it is not necessary to color someone extremely dark? Ex can be civilized, can be friend, even it can't, Lara n Grayson can be apart in better way.

Review

description

After reading Defending Hayden and loving it, a first for me and this author, it seemed like a no brainer that when this book dropped, I snag up this one too. Especially since it contained characters from the previous book that while I didn’t know the entire background on, I was definitely intrigued by.

Last Chance is written a lot like the previous story that I read. The writing is solid, the pace quick, fast even, given the way the conversations and situations just easily flow into each other, which was great considering the book wasn’t short. It was what I had come to expect from the author after my previous experience with her and kept me glued until I was done.

Where this book differs from that one is our hero. He’s not part of the Carolina Cougars (though they are his friends). He’s his own man and has built his own name in the motocross industry. Yes, we have a racer, which is actually another selling point to the story for me since this is my first go round with someone in that industry.

I wasn’t sure how to feel about Luke given the history between him and Lara here. What you’re given a bird’s eye view into with the short story that accompanies the actual story with One Taste. He had a lot of making up to do if he wanted to get back into this readers good graces.

As it turns out though, given that this book does in fact contain a love triangle of sorts, I didn’t come out of it feeling quite the way I did when I went in. Luke was easy to love. Like super easy to love. I suppose when you’ve lost what actually matters and you’re given this time frame of being alone without being able to be near what you love, you change. You become the person you’re meant to be. The one you should have been before so that you didn’t end up in the predicament you did. That’s what I got with Luke.

I enjoyed Lara. She wasn’t a typical heroine. She was feisty, both before and after what happens to her and I enjoyed having a stronger heroine like that. One that doesn’t take stuff lying down or at face value, even if at times, like in this book, what she’s seeing is wrong. She had her moments where I felt as though she was a little too easy on Luke and even Grayson, but at the end of the day, she was stronger more than she was weaker and that made for a good reading experience and a greater connection.

I think some of the stuff that happens here, (instances that take place that shape getting us to the ending), were a little crazy and I will admit to rolling my eyes a couple of times. It seemed a little out of this world, even in the fictional realm. I couldn’t hold much stock in it or the impact that it had on the characters themselves. I am thankful though that these instances were few and far between and when they did happen, they were handled swiftly and it didn’t break up the pace of the story much.

If anything, I came away from this story with an even greater pull to read more from this band of Carolina characters and the women that steal their hearts). So that for me is a win.

My thanks to the author and all others involved in letting me read a copy of this story before its official release. Luke and Lara’s journey is one that I am so glad that I got to be a part of. If you’ve read previous stories from this series at all, I think you’ll definitely wanna give this one a shot. I know I’m glad I did.

"I saw her silhouette and lost my breath at the sight of her. Her long, blonde hair was braided to the side, and she had on a pair of denim shorts that showed off her tanned legs, not to mention the light green tank top covering her pink bikini. She was so fing beautiful."

5 stars!! Beautiful and so well told!!

Luke will stop at nothing to win back Lara. But Lara has other ideas. She doesn't want her heart stomped on again and she doesn't want to give her heart up to the man who left her after their one night stand! So she falls for another man. But when tragedy strikes and she loses her memory, Luke sees this as the opportunity to win back the girl he left. Can he do it?

Wow, this book had me feeling so many things!! It was an emotional ride of epic proportions that's for sure. But it's so well told and so well put together, there's nothing you can't fall in love with! Great book!

Another great read from LP Dover

Told in dual pov's you are taken on the journey of Luke and Laura, the dilemmas life throws at them with mistakes, regrets, lies, truths and deception.

A roller coaster read as Laura finds herself in hospital after an accident with memory loss.

Two men claim to love her and she can't remember either of them. Who does she believe? she can't follow her head so she has to let her heart find the way.

Both men are determined to get her back and one would do anything to the point of stooping low.

There's angst, hotness, laughter, a great read all leading to a hea.

LP Dover had me hooked, I love the balance between it all that had me turning the pages.

There's no cheating and it does lead to a hea.

***ONE TASTE*** The Prequel that is attached.

One Taste is the prequel to Last Chance. I haven't read all of the Second Chance novels but I did meet Luke and Lara in Defending Hayden so I knew part of the story. But having a prequel for their novel is genius. I will make this short.

Luke and Lara have been friends for a long time but over the last few months things have changed between them. After losing Kate, Luke turned into a manwhore. Lara hated seeing this since she once had a crush on him. But now, she just gives him the cold shoulder and a hard time. But he doesn't want to give up. He wants her and after getting one taste, he wants more but she is done. She thought he could change but she was wrong. Now Luke has to work even harder to prove to her that he can be the man she thought he could be before is it too late?

I am so glad that I don't have to wait to find out what happens next. I will be reading Last Chance right after I finish this up. Yay!! I have a feeling that I am going to love it. These characters are stubborn, funny, and flirty. So I am so ready for the ride...

Quotes:

“Unless you’ve got a new job I don’t know about. You are looking pretty hot in those shorts.”
I scoffed and muttered, “I guess I should’ve expected that, having a vagina and all.”

“Hands to yourself tonight, Collins. I didn’t come here to be your plaything.” I glanced up at him and he smiled.

“I don’t want my heart broken. Now let me go.”

***LAST CHANCE***

Last Chance is the final book in the Second Chances Series. After reading it, there is one more character I would love to see get a book. Who knows maybe there will be a spin-off in the future. Anyway, back to Luke and Lara's story...

It's been one year since Lara walked away from Luke. She was now with Grayson, a man that has loved her for years. Luke knows this but he will not give up on them. He could see that she isn't happy with Grayson and knows in his heart that she loves him. She just won't give him a chance to explain what happened after their one night together. It changed everything. She just didn't know it. He just wants one last chance to prove to her that he is the man that she has always loved.

Lara loves Grayson but she still thinks about that night with Luke. She knows Grayson would never break her heart like Luke did. But that doesn't mean she doesn't love him. She is torn and when she wakes up in a hospital bed without memories of the last five years, she is even more confused. Two men are vying for her love. She doesn't want to hurt either of them but she has to make a choice between Grayson and Luke. She doesn't know if she will ever get her memory back so she has to rely on her instincts and the way her body responds to the men touch. She doesn't know who to believe so that's all she has left. Who will she gravitate to? Who can she trust with her memories? Who does she want a future with?

I loved this story!! Luke sees this as a way to start over with Lara and Grayson sees it as a way for her to forget about Luke. They all have to fight for what they want. Even if they have to fight dirty. There are definitely some surprises. Good and bad. There are some heartbreaking moments and heartwarming ones too. I cared for all of the characters but I had my favorite from the start. I fell hard and fast. It happens.

In the end will it be Lara choose Grayson, the man that she knows won't break her heart or Luke, the man that already has one upon a time?

Overall...it gave me all of the feels. I laughed. Cried. Wanted to hit someone. Wanted to hug someone. And cried again.

Quotes:

“All I’m asking for is the chance to tell her how I feel. I can’t have her running away from me.”

“You’re not going to treat me like I’m going to break, are you?”

“All you have to do is show me who you really are. Right now, I have no clue.”

I'm a big, big fan of this author, and I always anticipate her next release, especially from this series, so I was really looking forward to reading this book! I also read an ARC of the prequel novella to this book months ago and had been eagerly anticipating the characters full-length story, so I may have flailed a lot when I received my ARC of this book lol! The prequel novella is also included at the beginning of this book and it was extended and had some new scenes added, so I did do a quick re-read of it before reading the full-length book! I also started this book as soon as I received my ARC and it only took me a few sittings to read! I was reading it every chance I had and the plot was amazing and developed at the perfect pace! I also loved the sexual tension between the two main characters and that there were plenty of seriously hot scenes! I loved that there was a bit of suspense and action too! I also wasn't expecting the plot to go in the direction it did, but I loved the overall direction that it went in and it made it more interesting and different! The characters were also amazing and made this book even better! Lara was the main female character, and Lara went through a lot in this book! My heart completely went out to her because she was faced with a very difficult choice! Lara did the best she could in the situation she was placed in though! I also had a lot of respect for Lara because she went through something horrible and was then placed in a love triangle of sorts! She handled everything perfectly though and she definitely did the right thing! I also connected with Lara very well, and never lost that connection with her all the way through this book! Luke was the main male character, and he was seriously hot! I loved Luke! Yes, I will admit that he did do some things wrong when he tried to get Lara to notice him, but he did make up for it and it was easy to see how deep his feelings were for Lara! He really, really loved her and he just wanted to be with her and make her happy! Luke was also very protective of Lara and he showed this several times in this book as it progressed! I just loved Luke and he was like all this author's other male characters and was a perfect book boyfriend lol! I loved that this book was written from both Lara and Luke's point of views! I was hoping it was going to be as the other books in this series are co-written, so I'm really happy that it was! It helped me connect more with both characters and it allowed for more things to happen in the plot! I also can't wait to read the next book in this series! I already have an ARC of it through Netgalley, so I can start reading it straightaway, which makes me really happy! I can't wait to read the characters story! The cover for this book is also stunning! I loved it as soon as I saw it and I love how well it suits the other covers in the series! The models on the front are also the perfect Luke and Lara! Big thank you to L.P. Dover for an ARC of Last Chance and to Enticing Journey Book Promotions for having me on the Blog Tour!

I am a sucker for 2nd chance romance reads and this is one that will get your attention immediately for it is a killer of a 2nd chance romance and with a love triangle to boot. This story will have you ask the “What if” question like a million times while reading this story. What if I..What if she..What if he…What if they…Im serious, I totally did that up until about the very end. That is how good this story gets you involved in the characters’ lives.
What if you had a chance to start your life all over and get to rewrite your mistake? All by horrible accident and get to rewrite those bad things and start over from scratch and get to make new memories with the right person? Im sure your asking why I would even be saying this but this is because one of the main characters is faced with this – Lara’s life was fading fast , she and Luke were fighting and then suddenly one night changes everything. Life is upended and changes are made in a fast and quick matter. Life is done over in a re-do and it’s the only way she can reclaim any happiness is by setting out to make it work for her.
This is a love story that involves two men, Luke and Grayson. One is the ex-boyfriend and one is the best friend who wants to be more. When the near death accident happens, both men try to fight for the love of Lara but do it in a different way. Some of it is underhanded and manipulative all to get the hand of the woman in the center of this man’s game. Last Chance is full of twists and turns that lead to some pretty epic scenes in this story with Lara and Luke. There is a villain in this story and there is, in my opinion, someone who could be considered a villain too. Not mister nice guy---I swear, there were times I got really angry and wanted to stomp on my kindle a few times but I refrained from doing it. The mind games really will get you going, and you will chose a side, which is what I did. I tried not to but in the end, I came to be for #TEAMLUKE. Oh I will be the first to say he isn’t perfect and boy he could drive a person nutty but he loved Lara with an intensity and the 2nd chance they got was unbelievable. This story will have you in tears, will have you in anger and will have you grateful for being alive and for 2nd chances. You will feel a range of emotions in the story so buckle up and get ready to go on a journey.

My rating: 4.5 stars ****

Leslie (L.P.) is a well known author to me. Her books are on my kindle as well as my bookshelf. I absolutely love her writing and when the "chance" to review this book came available, I was quick to grab it! This book can be read as a standalone but it is part of the Second Chances series as well.

Lara is an adventurous, live life to the fullest woman. She works and part owns the Carolina Tavern with her twin sister, Summer and a friend Grayson. Lara has a masters in marketing but with the passing of Summer's husband years ago, she decided to help her out.

Luke is your all around playboy. He is well known for being the best motorcross and supercross champion. He's best friends with Summer's husband Evan. Luke had a rough childhood and his way of coping with it is to push away love.

Lara and Luke became friends when she first moved to North Carolina. They hung out a lot and Lara had a huge crush on him, but never acted upon it. One day, Lara's car breaks down and Luke comes to her rescue. At first she tries to blow him off because of his player ways. But Luke is persistent and eventually he gets her to let him give her a ride. Luke invited her to a friend's party as payback for helping. After the party, they go back to his place and it leads to a hot and heavy evening. Lara believes there is more, only to discover Luke pushed her away. So Lara does what any women would do and that was to move on. She did so with Grayson but not fully. Her heart belonged to Luke. After Grayson proposes to her, she becomes very distant with him. Luke notices at the beginning she isn't happy but is settling. He tells Evan and he intervenes. Lara calls off the engagement and that same night her life is changed.

She was in a horrible car accident and wakes up losing five years of her life due to retrograde amnesia. So now Lara has to figure out where her heart belongs and start all over again.

Does Lara go with the safe bet and pick Grayson? Or will she come to realize Luke is where she belongs? Can Luke show her she is the only one he wants? Do they get that "last chance" at love?

This book was amazing! I literally was unable to put it down once I started! If you haven't had the chance to read any of the other books of this series I highly recommend you do. It will help with understanding the characters that are mentioned. Awesome job Leslie!!

Lara Jacobs has had a thing for Luke for a long time, but finally gave up after watching his revolving door of women. He decides he wants her, so he wears her down until she gives in to her feelings, and they spend a great night together. After he left, he disappears, and she doesn't see nor hear from him until she catches him with another woman. Lara runs to her close friend Grayson Moore, who's in love with her, for comfort. Time goes by, and she moves on with Grayson, but she's not quite happy deep down. Bad boy, motor cross champ, Luke Collins, knows he messed up big time with Lara. By the time he realizes the truth, that he's in love with her, it's too late as she's moved on with someone else. Luke knows her well, and he can see that she's not completely happy with her choice, so he talks his best friend into helping him. She decides to give him one more chance, when life throat punches them, and she's in a bad accident on the way to his house. She barely survived, and when she does wake up, her memories of the last five years are gone. Grayson uses the memory loss to try and get her away from Luke, and Luke sees it as an opportunity to start over. As Lara spends time with both of them, hoping to remember anything, who will she end up with?!

Well, I hate to say this, but I have to, dramatic girly girl emotions straight ahead. WHAT. AN. EMOTIONAL. STORY! Yeah, my heart was ripped out, stomped on, before finally being shoved back in barely stitched up. The character development is great, with a entertaining, and colorful cast of secondaries that rounded it out perfectly. Luke and Lara's flammable chemistry EXPLODES into SMOKIN' HOT sexy scene goodness that I couldn't get enough of, while well placed humor had me rolling, and the angst forced all my emotions onto my sleeve. LP Dover's talented writing style had me all in from the very beginning, while keeping me hostage to the very end, ready to beg for more. Her diabolical twists made for f-bomb dropping OMG moments that came out of left field, and I barley held it together without messaging the her with colorful metaphors. I LOVED LOVED LOVED this story, and I want everyone to feel the same way, so I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

***ARC Provided by the Author for an Honest Review***

Last Chance by L.P Dover was a first for me, and a novel I really enjoyed. It’s a story about second chances, but with kind of a twist.

To rehash the blurb briefly, we meet Luke Collins, a bad boy vying to redeem himself, not only in the field of motocross, but also to win back the girl he lost.

Lara Jacobs is our main girl, one who after having a one night stand with Luke, gets her heart broken and chooses to fall into the arms of her close friend. Said ‘close friend’ – Grayson Moore, also loves Lara, and is determined to make her see that she is better off with him and not Luke.

Add in some tragedy, and this love triangle has the potential to set any reader on a stormy ride.

What I enjoyed about this book was that it catered to those of us who sometimes just want something a little less intense, that we can devour in one sitting. It offered everything you expect in a romance novel – steamy sex scenes, with moments that will pull on any women’s heart strings.

In many romance novels you find there is a predictability about them that makes it hard to actually sit and read the whole story without skimming through sections. That was definitely not the case with Last Chance as just when you thought you knew what was going to happen, our author decided to through in a few twists or surprises to keep it interesting. I love when this occurs because it gives you the opportunity to feel the character’s happiness, and their pain.

The concept of this story line though, is what drew me in, especially the idea of what lengths one person would have to endure, to prove they are worthy of a second chance.

Will Lara choose Grayson – the safe bet, the one who appears to be the less likely to break her heart, or Luke – the one who is willing to fight dirty for her, but has never given her a reason to believe he is worthy of holding her heart.

This is a fantastic read and one I am happy to recommend

This is a five star read for me.

This is a second-chance romance that involves Luke, the bad-boy motocross champion and Lara, his ex’s best friend. Did I mention that they also shared a one-night stand? Within the first couple of chapters, we all know that Luke did not handle this one-night stand in the very best way. Determined to move on with her life and protect her heart, Lara rebounds with Grayson. However, fate intervenes and throws a wrench into everyone’s plans. After a near fatal accident causes Lara to lose all memories of the past several years, things are not as they seem. Will she choose Grayson, the one who says all the right things? Or will she choose Luke, the one who makes her feel all the right things? Who can she trust with her heart?

This was a quick and easy read, although a little rushed at times. I loved the motocross aspect of the storyline. I give Last Chance 3.5 stars.

WOW! This group of characters have 9 lives. Some of them are luckier than the others. Grab some tissues because this book is an emotional roller coaster. Luke and Lara have known each other for some time but Lara keeps avoiding Luke due to his player ways. She knows once she gives in that she will fall for the bad boy Luke. Luke breaks her heart and falls into the arms of Grayson who is part owner of the restaurant that Lara owns with her sister. Things all fall apart when Lara is in a serious car accident. I am going to stop my review right here because I don't want to spoil the book for you. Grab some tissues, relax and get ready for a wild ride.

Luke has some stamina, "groaning, he looked down at his ***k. “Do you see what you do to me? I don’t think I’m going to be able to let you out of this bed if you keep teasing me.” Luke is cocky the boy knows he drives his woman to distraction, “are you okay? What’s on your mind?” I looked up just in time to see him release the towel from around his waist and use it to dry off his back. It was hard to think with him standing there dripping wet. He knew what he was doing, looking at me with a smirk on his face. “Are you going to answer me? What’s on your mind?” he repeated." I loved Luke he was a good guy, sweet, sexy, attentive to his woman.

Meh. Predictability was rampant. Eye rolling happened way too often. Characters acted way younger than their age (For a 29 year old, Lara acted like a spoiled college student.).

To make Grayson such a jerk was really a risk that failed.

Luke was a shell of his former self. It wasn't that I didn't like nuLuke, but his insta-change just seemed a little left-fieldy.

Luckily, it was the last of the second-chance series, one in which I've witnessed a decline in style and content. This author is usually an insta-buy for me, and I'm afraid I'll no longer be so quick to click (ooh, I like that).

**********Contains Spoilers**********

I’ve read this book multiple times as well Second Chances Series as a whole but I’ve never actually gotten around to posting a review so here goes. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved the chemistry between Lara and Luke. I know that Luke hurt Lara but I felt sorry for him multiple times throughout this book as Lara never gave him a chance to apologise during the year since he’d royally screwed things up after their one night together as he ran from what he felt for her as they scared him. Her and Grayson end up together and have been dating for a year so Grayson decides to propose to her in front of all their fiends and family at their restaurant the Carolina Tavern. She realises that he’s planning on proposing but hopes she’s wrong since she’s not ready for marriage but as he pops the question she looks out to the crowd and notices that her and Evan are the only ones who don’t seem happy. Evan had to tell Luke earlier that day that he’s too late to get her back as Grayson’s planning on proposing to her at her surprise party tonight and Luke asked him to really look at her when Grayson asks her, as he can’t be the only one that sees that she isn’t fully happy so Evan does what Luke asked him finally saw through her mask. Lara knows that even if she’s not ready for marriage she can’t hurt Grayson like that so she says that she’ll marry him.

The next day Evan goes to see Luke and Luke’s pretty angry with him for not getting back to him and he understands that he obviously didn’t see that she wasn’t happy and that she said yes but Evan tells him that even though she said yes he could see what Luke sees so he’s going to try and talk to Lara but there’s no guarantee that she’ll listen. Evan talks to her and she decides that she still loves Luke so she ends it with Grayson before calling Luke on the way to his house saying that she’s sorry that it’s taken her so long but she’s ended it with Grayson and she wants to be with him, he tells her that he loves her before she’s in a car accident and he hears the whole thing before the phone cuts off. For two weeks Luke has sat at her bedside, during his allocated times that is since there’s so much tension between him and Grayson so Summer suggested a visitation schedule. Luke has felt like something is wrong but it isn’t until she finally wakes up that he finds out why he’s felt that way as she can’t remember anything from the last 5 years as she retrograde amnesia, meaning that she doesn’t even remember him let alone that she loves him.

Grayson makes matters worse when he tells Lara that he’s her fiancé and Luke asks him if they’re still engaged then where’s her ring. Summer tells Lara about her past with Luke and that her and Grayson have been in a relationship for the last year and recently got engaged but since they’re both saying conflicting things Lara needs to spend time with both of them to decide who she wants to be with but it’s obvious throughout this book that Summer is definitely team Grayson. I’m glad that Luke decided to be a better man than he was when he was trying to win Kate over when him and Cooper both liked her and decided to be completely honest with Lara about their past no matter how bad it was, it totally made up my mind that Luke was the right choice for her. Team Luke all the way.

When it was obvious that Lara was leaning towards Luke, Summer kept on telling her to spend some time with Grayson as it’s only fair. When Lara finally realised that Luke was her choice it turned to sh*t pretty quickly when Skylar the jealous b*tch tried to break them apart by making Lara think that they’d sl*pt together. Skylar also dr*gged the shot she gave Luke to make him pass out. I completely understand that Lara was upset with Luke but it annoyed me that she ran away without even giving him a piece of her mind especially after he’d just finished telling her that he never slept with any of the women he used to make her jealous over the year while he was trying to get her back when she was with Grayson and how much he loves her, you think she would but then she has a brain injury so she can be forgiven for being messed up. I’m glad that Evan believed Luke when he told him that he thinks that he was dr*gged and that he would never cheat on Lara so Evan took him to Kate’s so she can do a dr*g test so he’ll have the proof he needs to make Lara listen to him as she’ll just think he’s making an excuse without any proof to back up his claim. This book was definitely a roller coaster ride on my emotions so be warned. I’m really looking forward to reading Jax’s book next to see him find his redemption. I’d definitely recommend this book, series, universe and author to anyone who likes suspenseful, steamy romances with Happily ever afters.

Lara Jacobs has spent the last few years crushing on her motocross riding friend Luke, but he seems to be completely oblivious to her attraction, especially since he has spent the last few years flaunting his conquests in front of her. She knows she should just move on and find someone more worthy of her time and attention, but no one seems to put the same tingle in her belly like he does, and she wants the fireworks. So she finally works up the courage to make her move one night at a friends party, and the kisses and between the sheets action they share is magical... but the next day he acts like it meant nothing to him. Like she was just another conquest, and it hurts so darn much...she thought they could have something real, how could she be so wrong?

From the very first page Last Chance pulled me in and had addicted to it's beautifully crafted words, it was unputdownable! These characters were amazing, their chemistry palpable from their first interaction, and it just continued to intensify with every page that followed... they brought lots of steam to the pages!! This was quite an enjoyable read, it had touches of suspense, sports, drama, and of course the good stuff... heat! Highly recommend you get your hands on this one, it's endearing characters are certain to charm their way into your heart and leave it forever moved!

Good read.

I finally got around to reading about Luke and Lara. Was glad that Luke finally found his true self, even if it did take him losing Lara to do it. I was completely blown away with Greyson's attitude and actions. Loved their second chance with each other.

4.5 stars I still love all of these characters. Luke was a screw up, no doubt about it, but I still loved him.

This whole series has been filled with people who have lost boyfriends/girlfriends/spouses due to death and also have psycho doctors, nurses, exes after them trying to ruin their current relationships. I wouldn't want to be friends with any of these people, let alone in a relationship for fear of crazies coming after me.

I think it was a bit overkill having the same thread running through the whole series. There are other ways to create angst and suspense. Maybe if the problems between the main characters weren't resolved so quickly, the author wouldn't have to resort to crazy people in every story.

~CASSIE~

Last Chance is part of the Second Chance series and it can be read as a standalone. This is my second book in this series and you will not be lost if you start with this book. That being said you are going to want to read every one of Dover’s books. She is fast becoming one of my go to authors.
Last Chance is Lara and Luke’s story and boy was it a whirlwind. Lara and Luke have chemistry that is hot, but the problem with that is Luke is a manwhore. Lara may want him, but she is not having anything to with him because of his womanizing ways. I loved that about Lara, she was feisty and did not hold back on her opinions about Luke and his lifestyle. She was never intentionally mean about it, but she told him what he needed to hear. Even with all of that she did have a vulnerable side and I feel like that just added dimension to her character. Lara was fighting her attraction to Luke because she refused to be another one of his conquest. Luke was intrigued by Lara especially when she kept rejecting at every turn. I am not going to lie it took a minute for Luke to grow on me because he was arrogant jerk at the beginning, but grow on me he did. He did not show it a lot or to many, but he had a soft side. I also like that he was unapologetic about his lifestyle. He lived hard and played hard. He wasn’t hurting anyone until he hurt Lara.
Luke and Lara finally sleep together and it was hot. I seriously think my kindle may have steamed up. But Luke messed up and Lara refuses to have anything to do with him. For a year Luke does everything to try and fix things, but Lara was heartbroken once and refused to give him another chance. Finally, she was able to see that Luke meant it and that maybe they had a chance. On her way to him there is a horrible accident and this puts all of their futures up in the air. Are Luke and Lara strong enough to fight to become the couple they are meant to be?
Last Chance is a must read! I started this book and could not put it down until the very last page. L.P. Dover has way about her writing that just draws you in, and I felt like I was living this story and not just reading it. I also love the way she brings in the characters from the other second chance series. This adds depth to the story and characters. I cannot wait for the next book!

First I want to note that Last Chance: A Second Chance Novel, includes an updated version of One Taste, a prequel novella for this book. This short novella tells us, finally, in detail, what happened between Lara and Luke on their one night stand and why she feels and acts the way she does towards him. This is a standalone novel, but if you have read any of the other Second Chances books by this author, we never had the full details until now and though this is a standalone book and you do not need to read the other books in the series to read this story, this novella just gives us more background into Luke and Lara’s history. I loved this short story and was glad it was included.

In Last Chance, we pick up just over a year later. Lara has moved on, at least in her mind, if not her heart. Grayson and her are together and moving forward, but Lara is starting to question her choices. Then Grayson surprises her with what should be a joyous occasion, but only plagues her with more doubt. Finally making a choice for her, she is excited to finally move forward. Then tragedy strikes when she is involved in an accident that nearly clams her life. When she finally wakes, its without any memory of the last five years. And to top it all off, there are two men vying for her love and who both say she chose them.

Who does she believe and trust? Those around her clearly have picked sides, but she knows she has to follow her mind and heart. The best course of action? Spend time with her friends and family to see if anything can trigger her memories. This include both Luke and Grayson, both hating this course of action, but not willing to give up on Lara.

And so begins the courtship of Lara. But are both men being truthful about their pasts and where they go from here? Both love Lara and though they both want Lara, are they fighting fair?

I loved that Lara was finally standing up for herself and fighting for what she wanted, even though she did not have her memory yet. She followed her heart and mind. Though we knew one person would be hurt, in the end we make choices that feel right for ourselves. And that is what Lara finally does.

Luke really showed how much he had grown during their time apart and how much he came to realize Lara meant to him. He knew they were destined to be together. Grayson, afraid to lose Lara after he thought she belonged to him will stop at nothing to get her back.

I will say, there is a twist in this story that took me by surprise and was very unexpected. I had a hard time accepting this course of action, but when you love someone and want them more than anything, how far would you be willing to go?

This story is about second chances, following your heart and finding your true place, but it also shows the length people are willing to go for what they want and love. But how far is too far? Sprinkle in some very unexpected turn of events and you have a story that will captivate you from start to finish. I am really enjoying this series and all the characters.

Last Chance: A Second Chance Novel by L.P. Dover was a 4.5-star read for me.

LP Dover has done it again. Last Chance is an interconnected standalone in her Second Chances series, and has all of the same excellent elements as the others.

Last Chance is a second chance love story, a sports romance, with a dash of who's out to get you in it. As with the other stories in this series each book stands completely on its own. You will not be lost if you just pick up this book and read it. However if you have been following along with this series or LP Dover's books in general you will see familiar characters pop up and visit and some that are integral characters to the storyline.

We have our motocross champ Luke. He has a bit of a reputation as a play boy, a manwhore. But he has had a bit of a crush on his friend Lara, he just never acted. Until that one day he saw her on the side of the road. That led to that party. That led to that one glorious night together.... *SIGH* You see where this is going right? Yeah the rat bastard never called :( He broke Lara's heart. Their friendship ended and she went running right into Grayson's arms. Oh Luke realized he was wrong. But you know what they say.. too little too late! Or was it?

Grayson loves her. He looks like he would be perfect for her. But Luke wants her back. He knows that she is the one and he just ran scared. Who is the right man for her? She will choose... but will she remember?

This book just tore at my heart as nothing went right for Lara. But what I loved was that Lara wasn't some weak little woman that just got pushed around by what life threw at her. Did she get thrown by it for a while? Hell yeah! We all would! But she was feisty and took everything she was handed and stormed right on. I loved that even when she took what she saw at face value after a little bit she stopped took a dee breath and dug to the bottom. As soon as she knew she could handle it she went for it. Really we all need to do things on out own time table and that is something that is important to realize! And learning listen to what is truly deep in your heart isn't always easy. Especially when you can't trust what os in your head.

And Luke. Luke! SWOON! He really grew up. You could feel the love pouring off of him. The regret for the mistakes he made in his past. The longing to make things right. I loved his fun and playful nature. I loved how he really just GOT Lara. He seemed to see through her to her core and to see what she needed to be happy. And to me that is what we really need in someone who loves us.

Last Chance is a fast paced read. The twists and turns will keep you on your toes and thinking oh no... please no! But the love and family and friends that surrounds this couple will just make your heart swell. I definitely recommend this sexy second chance love story.
